You Won’t Have Frank Straub to Kick Around Anymore

I was out of town when the news broke that Dr. Frank Straub had turned in his resignation as Public Safety Director.  I was originally planning to scribble down a few thoughts, but I figured I’d voice them instead.

Frank Straub Commentary

LEO training reinforces that the truth needs to be told.  If the truth is something you find uncomfortable, that is Your problem, not mine.

  • Maxon

My comments are far from knee jerk and are based on facts as they were presented in the many officer corruption/misconduct cases that have found their way onto the front pages of the star or lead stories on our local TV stations over the years.

How do you spin the fact that an officer was getting it on in his police car with a prostitute?

How do you spin the fact that an officer was stopping female drivers and having them perform favors to get out of tickets?

How do you spin the fact that an officer was involved in a murder at a club he was running?

How do you spin the fact that an officer was tipping off informants?

How do you spin the fact that am officer was going to strip clubs in uniform seeking lap dances?

Do I need to continue? From the public’s view, this is unacceptable.

And in reference to you not buying my story that I’ve talked to several officers over 17yrs, well I’ve been on 6ride-a-longs  in the last 8 years. I’ve donated money to and I have participated in 3 Jason Bakers golf outings.  My foundation works hard in supporting inner city youth programs along side members or your PAL club.

    So who are you?

Getting back to my main point. Straub is not the problem with your department.  They way you try and defend the actions of the few only supports the push back that Straub been getting the past 2 years.  Not putting the best interest of the community, your police department and the good hard working officers that do things right, first but to instead defending the apparent history of corruption/misconduct of the few by not wanting to CHANGE.

I just don’t think anyone is buying it.  If you were really that involved in IMPD than you would know better.  Again, all of those incidents that you list are going to happen.  The good thing is that they are getting caught and prosecuted, thanks mostly to other IMPD Officers.

“If you were really that involved in IMPD then you would know better”.

At 68 yrs old, I wouldn’t say I’m “really” involved to the point I live and breathe IMPD.  On the other hand I am very involved in my community and attend meetings where we invite the police to come and talk to us about crime issues.  My opinion is based on my many conversations with officers, over the years, in these settings and riding with them. Despite what you say, what other people say here and what your FOP says, not all officers share your feelings about Straub.

    Maxon,
Sir, you are compromised.  Stop trying to tell a lie enough times.
The Officers have expressed themselves anyway that they can that Straub was not the right guy to move their department forward.  Anyway, he is gone, he finally got the picture that you have yet to see.
Now it is time to find a real leader and get IMPD back on track to being the best Police Department it can be.
