What About Bob (Morris)?

A website that specializes in debunking Internet rumors and urban legends has chimed in on State Representative Bob Morris’ claim that the Girl Scouts of America promote a “pro abortion/homosexual” agenda.

As you know, Morris touched of a statehouse firestorm which later garnered national attention with his comments regarding the girl scouts.  He voted against a House resolution honoring the 100-year old organization, saying the group is the “tactical arm of Planned Parenthood” and “it promotes the homosexual lifestyle”.  Morris became the butt of local and national jokes and only made matters worse with a non-apologetic apology.

Snopes, the website that specializes in debunking Internet myths and rumors did some research on Morris’ comments and found out while there is a some truth that some Girl Scout chapters do help young girls with sexuality issues, Morris went off the reservation with his comments.

Indiana Barrister has attached the link here for you to read  for yourself.  In the meanwhile, Morris reportedly in the doghouse with his House Republican colleagues right now and he’s likely going to be there for a while.

He is a typical Hoosier Republican office holder.  It is good to see that they are starting to get exosed for what they are.  Now let’s see.   Just how do the Republicans what the National Anthem sung and how much is the fine for not singing in the state approved manner?

  • Think Again

This was fun for a couple of days.  Righteing nutjob takes one miniscule point and blow sit all out of proportion, makes a complete fool of himself, and even Brian Freaking Bosma makes fun of him.

Can we move on for God’s sake?  His views on the Girl Scouts are the least of our worries.

It’s like we’re all distracted by shiny objects or something.

  • Just Me

Rightwing nut jobs seem to be the rule in Indiana. Not only Morris’ outrageous charges but those who would teach creationism in science classes, school us in how to sing the national anthem properly and, oh, yeah, the secretary of state, in charge of election laws he himself violates.

OK, some truth sounds better than none. How much truth?

Snopes enjoys an error rate along with a detectable bias.  Let’s see what they’re reporting about recent & significant irregularities in climate science:  www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/02/peter-gleick-confesses-to-obtaining-heartland-documents-under-false-pretenses/253395/

..but what will we do with the Communist lesbians who are promoting abortion in the Girl Scouts?

  • Think Again

    Take away their license plates.

    That solves everything.

Ask Eric Miller.  He’s the Prime Minister of the Shadow Government anyway.  Whatever he says, we do.  God bless.

Much in the way a cover-up can be worse than the crime, so it is that reactions say more about us than the exaggerated opinion of one lawmaker’s letter, and I’m referring to Bosma’s pitiful reactionary response that did nothing but demean his office and the general assembly and humiliate a fellow lawmaker.  Bosma not only paraded a letter never intended for public distribution, according to Bob Morris, but made a crusade to exacerbate the matter in front of the nation, making the legislature and everyone involved look petty.  We can laugh at Bosma’s comic relief of wearing a girl scout’s badge sash at the gridiron, having a box of GS cookies marked ‘Caution: Contents Radicalized” at each table, and numerous jokes at the expense of Morris who apologized for his own choice of words as ‘emotional, reactionary, and inflammatory’, but Bosma’s taking his road show into his place of employment to further extend his mockery to Morris says more about Bosma than Morris.  Profusely eating GS cookies from his General Assembly perch, asking all female lawmakers who had been a GS, to give the motion for adjournment and announcing he had bought 278 GS cookies in the last 48 hours, all head up acts to the circus led by Ringmaster Bosma.
It wasn’t that long ago that Bosma questioned the time spent in 2009 regarding a resolution making sugar cream pie the State pie for fear the public would sense there were more important issues on the table (That was 2009 when dealing with a tax increase to cover an unemployment fund shortfall, and a bill against dog abuse, and against cell phone abuse by teenagers while driving until age 18, and difficulty in passing a budget). Yet, now that Bosma’s new job seems to carry a vengeful side, it’s a sad day for Hoosiers when his brand of self righteousness is made front and center within his agenda.  Sugar cream pie and girl scout cookies anyone?

Who funds Snopes?  Nuff said.  A contrary view showed up in the Scar.  ”
Behavior Unbecoming of the Dignity of His OfficeContact House Speaker Brian Bosma About His Disappointing Behavior Many people have contacted us about the controversy surrounding the Girl Scouts in the Indiana House of Representatives. This began when Fort Wayne Representative Bob Morris (R) sent a letter to his colleagues expressing his concern over a resolution praising the Girl Scouts of America (GSA) on their 100th Anniversary.Rep. Morris addressed some recent moves by the Girls Scouts of America toward certain liberal ideologies and associations with groups like Planned Parenthood. As you can imagine, the media jumped all over Rep. Morris. That is to be expected. Unfortunately, Speaker of the House Brian Bosma only made things worse this week by repeatedly mocking Rep. Morris on the floor of the House and in a dinner with many legislators and members of the media present. There are a few points here that need to be made clear.First, there are many very good families involved in the Girl Scouts of America. Nothing in this email should be interpreted as an attack on any family involvement, any Girl Scout or any local Indiana GSA troop. It is true that GSA was, and is, a good organization that can provide much needed opportunities for many girls and families. However, it is also a fact that the national president of the Girl Scouts of America has admitted onNBC’s Today Show that GSA works with Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppX6oXCmHF4&feature=related It is a fact, that some GSA materials have referred Girl Scout members in certain parts of America to Planned Parenthood centers as well as homosexual activist organizations or agendas.http://cnsnews.com/blog/peter-sprigg/scouting-troubleIt is a fact that Betty Friedan, the founder of the National Organization for Women (NOW) and theNational Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) was a national board member of the GSA for twelve years. It is a fact that concerns about the direction of the GSA have been around for some time and widely reported in regards to various questionable political activities and associations. For this reason, a successful alternative called American Heritage Girls has grown rapidly across the country out of concerns over the direction of the national GSA. Why then did Speaker of the House Brian Bosma, who claims to be pro-life, publicly mock, taunt and demean Rep. Morris on the House floor this week for the legislator’s concerns about the GSA?According to news reports, Speaker Bosma boasted that he bought “278 cases of Girl Scout Cookies” passing them out to House members and staff and even eating them from the Speaker’s chair mocking Rep. Morris during House business for his pro-life concerns over the GSA. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2012202220320Last night, Speaker Bosma attended an annual event called the Gridiron Dinner, which is always widely attended by political leaders. He wore a Girl Scout sash to this dinner, again, mocking Rep. Morris and his concerns. This raises another question. Why did Speaker Bosma kill Senate Bill 72, the only pro-life measure of the session to see action? That legislation provides important medical information to women considering abortion. It also addresses a problem with an unregulated abortion clinic in Fort Wayne. The bill passed the Senate unanimously. Speaker Bosma has buried it.It appears as though Speaker Bosma has more zeal for bad behavior than he does for doing what is right. Or perhaps it is just that he seems to be more interested in mocking a conservative more than he is fighting his true ideological opponents on the political left.Regardless of whether Rep. Morris should or should not have raised this issue, or whether he used the best adjectives to describe Girl Scout leadership concerns before a hostile media, this is behavior unbecoming of a Speaker of the House who claims to be a conservative, pro-life legislator. Former House Speaker Patrick Bauer is a political bulldog, but at least he publicly treats his members with respect in regard to their political convictions. Representative Bosma should do the same.It appears as though a fairly new member of the Indiana House tried to do what was morally right and his own leadership has mocked, humiliated and demeaned him.

The Republicans have become a party of nut jobs.

They actively want to turn government into a “Theocracy” that only the folks in the Middle East could love.

They want to combine Religion and Government and make
televangelist inspired Christian Evangelicals the official church of the United States.

They are easy to spot, they feel compelled infuse words like faith, god, pray or even Tebow into their political talking points.

They are prone to go into theoretical musings and furious rants at times when just a little common sense is required.

Regardless of political party affiliation, religion should not lower itself to partisan politics.   Certainly government has no place in choosing an official religion like the Church of England which our countries settlers were trying to escape.    I’m afraid my party is lost and there is no coming back.

    We are doomed!

Bob Morris wants to take on the Girls Scouts and Separation of Church and State because Pro-Life is the only issue that really matters in his eyes.

Republican Candidate for Governor, Mike Pence describes himself as “a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican, in that order.”

Republican Candidate for U.S. President, Rick Santorum,  “I don’t believe in an America where the separation of church and state
is absolute. The idea that the church can have no influence or no
involvement in the operation of the state is absolutely antithetical to
the objectives and vision of our country.”

  • Think Again

    Morally right.  That’s hilarious.

Hey, Rick Santorum, Mike Pence, & Bob Morris,

So It’s Totally Cool If A Muslim Becomes President And Doesn’t Separate Church-State?

Just wanted to get your answer on record.

America’s cleft should celebrate this division in the parlance of “choice,” where informed parents can direct their children to an alternative organization like American Heritage Girls.

Speaker Bosma’s unfortunate bully ragging of Rep Morris seems to be the real excess, given what appears to be GSA’s questionable affiliations.

  • Pascal

Pascal was offering an extended quote but forgot to put the last quotation mark in.  I understand the mocking of morality and considering the source of the comment am not surprised.  This is a bit like Komen Foundation-when we check the facts we find they were in bed with Satan.  When we check the GS we find similar. Ha ha ha-it is hilarious….And, Rep Morris comes out smelling like a rose while Mr. Bosma, et al come across as toadies for the Scar…and duh media in general.

I think we should move on an explore the YWCA and their relationships…..or, is that “old news”?

Just saw a picture of a bear cub at the General Assembly. Sugar Cream Pie, Girl Scout Cookies, and now a bear cub.  What’s next..a bear claw at each table.  The circus continues..

Yeah, right!!   GOP bigotry never changes.

  • Rico

You’re the most bigoted person on here, Ramon. You support profoundly-ignorant and incompetent politicians simply because they’re black.  You are a cancer to the black community and too stupid to realize it.
And, if you’re an educator as you claim to be, you’re the poster child for private education.

  • Whomever

Abdul,  what is sad is people believe the mis-information that Rep Morris claims.  In fact, the schools where his daughters attend have disbanded the Girl Scouts in favor of a more Christian Conservative agenda.  Several catholic schools within the Fort Wayne Diocese have cancelled Girl Scouts following the comments of Rep Morris.  Sadly, people have drunk the Kool-Aid.  Just some of them prefer grape as opposed to cherry or orange.
