First 5th District Forum

Three of the five candidates for the 5th Congressional District will meet in a couple weeks for their first joint appearance in front of Republican voters.   The Howard County Republican Party is announcing that Susan Brooks, David McIntosh and John McGoff will all participate their Century Club candidate breakfast on January 14 at 8:45 at the Elite Banquet Center in Kokomo, located at  2820 S. LaFountain St.

According to the release sent out by Craig Dunn Howard County GOP Chairman, incumbent Dan Burton declined to participate.  There is no word yet on whether candidate Jack Lugar will appear at the forum either.    FYI, I will be there to act as moderator.  The event is open to the public, however you  must RSVP by January 12.

Questions or RSVPs for the Fifth District Congressional Forum may be addressed to:  Craig Dunn-Howard County Republican Chairman,  Telephone: 765-457-1134 W. or 765-252-8643 C.  Email inquiries to:  chairman@howardcountyrepublicans.org

I want to say this is the first time the candidates will meet in a public forum to debate the issues, so it should be interesting.

I’ve always scratched my head to the Burton district, there are always four to five formidable candidates running in Burton’s district, yet he always wins by splitting the vote in the primary.
I’ve wondered if this is a smart political strategy on Burton’s part, or if the Republican ego’s always rule in the fifth district?

The Republicans in that district are not smart enough to figure that out.  Their reward is to be represented in congress by a buffoon.

  • indyernie

Sooo the Republicans in the 5th have something in common with the democrats in the 7th…who would thave thought?

  • Rico

That’s better than a race pimp loser thug.

  • http://diveboard-dave.blogspot.com/ David Sprowl

Did the Burton camp give a reason for not participating?

  • Ramon

My guess is that Burton is playing golf in some warm climate with all expenses paid for by some lobbyist.

  • Scooter

I agree.  I remember when ‘Ol Danny-Boy hit the Links instead of voting on an important VA funding item.

Oh, and let’s not forget the out-of-wedlock child he fathered with a staffer….. and had the nerve to call Bill Clinton names.

Cripes, I really like it where I live…. all except for my representation (Burton) in DC.

  • Turk182

I think it’s time for Lugar, Carson, and Burton, to hit the bricks, they all have ruined America!

  • Steved608

    Scooter. AAAAAAMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Think Again

    David McIntosh.  Hilarious.

  • Pissed off in Brendonwood

I total agree..Lugar has been a terrible representative for our state. He is an idiot when it comes to Foreign affairs. His knowledge of constitutional law is kindergarten at best. And, of course he has NO pull in the Senate. Its time that h=we get rid of his experience and bring in new blood like Mourdock.

Mourdock is a great man, he figured out how to not pay his taxes. He found $300,000,poo that we didn’t know we had and he has such a sweet personality.

Get rid of Lugar and bring in new fresh blood like Mourdock !

  • Think Again

    Idiot at foreign affairs?  Seriously?

    Boy are you delusional.

  • Mailbin19

It seems to me he was being sarcastic

  • M Theory

You are right about Lugar being an idiot with foreign policy.  If he knew what he was doing, we would have diplomacy instead of debt we can never pay off for unconstitional wars.

Washington insiders like Lugar sure do love a good war, but only slightly less than they love a good bailout to reward their Wall Street friends and foreign banks!

And good for Mourdock.  That $300 million which was found on his watch, was disclosed to us, and hopefully will be returned to the people!

  • Think Again

    OK

An historical throw-back, because Abdul can’t, or won’t: this district was (largely) carved up for State Repub Chairman Bruce Melchert in 1981.  He thought he could win the election from a golf cart.  Danny Boy ran and out-worked him.  The Republicans knew at the time that Burton was a womanizing , cheating evangelical hypocrite.

While in office, he’s chased skirts, sponsored stupid legidslation, been flown globally by special interests, and played golf while Rome burned.  He entered Congress a relatively modest man, and is now a milionaire.  He was a Clinton Conspiracy Theorist of the first order–his pumpkin-shooting backyard incident is still a huge chuckle on Capitol Hill.  He’s a Hoosier embarrassment worse than Vance Hartke ever was.  And that’s saying a LOT!

They (GOP) have had, by my count, 15 opportunities to take him out.  Two more redistricting opportunities. We get what we deserve from Indiana’s legislature–one more example of how it’s one of America’s worst.  Danny left the Indiana legislature to go to DC, and his brother Woody arrived soon thereafter–can’t remember when, not that it matters.  In God We Trust indeed.Today is Wednesday–Woody’s turn to use the Burton brain.

  • pascal

Both Burton and Lugar have much coin of the realm in DC-Seniority.

  • Rico

….win the election from a golf cart….hmmmmm? Sounds like someone of whom we all know.

  • Rico

    …again….sounds familiar….hmmmm…

  • Turk182

Barry Sorento is playing his 90th round today.

  • Think Again

Nope.  Not gonna bite.  Not worth it.

  • Think Again

LOL  Funny.  Inaccurate (again) but funny.

  • M Theory

TA?  What is the accurate number of golf games played by Obama (Barry Sorento) since he took office?

    91?

  • Coffee Crystals Angry

    No coffee crystals!  http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/237136/

  • Rico

That would be 90……as of today.

  • Rico

You are as pathetically-narcissistic as your hero Barry.  Where in my reply to Ramon did I indicate that my goal was was to get YOU to ‘bite’?  How impressed you must be with yourself. ………must not get out much…….

  • Think Again

I am impressesd with myself, and I know you were trying to get a response from me. I am smarter then that….

  • Think Again

Carson has done alot for this city, why would you want him to leave his life time job?

  • Think Again

Stop using my post name, can’t you find your own post name.

  • Think Again

Why should it be returned to the people, we can fund more social programs…

  • Think Again

    stop hatinnnn

  • Think Again

Lugar has done so much for this country….

  • Scooter

Huh???  Like what??  Farm subsidies?  How much farm land does his family own??

  • Scooter

    90 days = 1/4 of a year!!

  • Think Again

How DO you do that?  It wasn’t me….

  • Think Again

    Again–what’s up Abdul?

  • Think Again

    Ugh….

  • Think Again

Why do the golf games concefnr you so much?  If yo think he’s so awful, you ought to be glad he’s not making us even more socialist as a nation.

And his total vacation days aren’t even close to Bush’s yet, just FYI.

  • Think Again

    Not me…

  • Scooter

The business of this nation is not conducted on a golf course. Those elected and sent to DC by we the people are expected to be on the job 24/7/365… just like us poor bastards who wore the uniform of this country.

Also excluded are date nite trips to Chicago or NYC (at tens of thousands per trip), or flights for the dog (at taxpayer expense) for nothing other than a photo-op.

At least both Bushs & RR conducted government business from Maine, Texas & California. Can’t do that on the back nine or from the pet store.

  • Indyernie

In W’s first term most of his vacation days were at his home. Obama is flying half way around the world. What Barry has spent on Secret Service for these trips is more than what Bush and RR spent for SS in two terms. Add in staff and travel on AF 1, local security the cost huge. Barry acts more like a King than a President.

  • indyernie

TA are you talking to yourself …..again? They have meds for that….

  • Scooter

    Roses are red
    Violets are blue
    TA’s a schitzoid
    and so is TA.
