Battle of the Social Network Stars

I had a couple minutes today so I decided to do some cruising through Facebook just to see how some of Indiana’s candidates are doing with their social network worlds.   I tried to use campaign Facebook websites where possible.  Now this is not to say whether your “friends” will translate into votes, but I think it does provide a peak into how candidates are using the medium to reach the populace.

Word of caution, I am friends or following all of the candidates because it helps me keep track of their campaigns and it is not to be taken as an endorsement of their candidacies.  I like and dislike everybody equally.

So with that said, here’s where everybody stands as of when I wrote this post this morning, the numbers may have changed slightly since then.

U.S. Senate

2nd District

8th District

9th District

Secretary of  State*

Auditor

Treasurer

State Parties**

*Just for the record,  if Facebook friends were votes, Libertarian Mike Wherry helps Libertarians keep their ballot access because he get seven percent of the total vote.

**State parties have a couple pages that I pulled the data from.  HT to Matt Stone for the info.

I got some different results from state parties:

    Republicans: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=492879230...

    Dems: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=492879230...

I suspect that the “group” pages you linked to were from a time BEFORE Facebook introduced Fan pages and that counts for their low numbers.

And no 7th district? As if there’s any mystery, but still fun to observe.

I agree. Thanks for the other links, Matt. I’ll throw those up in my blog.

So, is this the definition of “slow blog day” ?

  • Rico

Maybe Andre doesn’t have any friends.

  • Wilson46201

André Carson has 4983 friends at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234051072&ref=ts

Candidate André Carson has 1968 fans at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Andre-Carson/31116589096

Congressman André Carson has 411 friends at his new official Congressional page at http://www.facebook.com/CongressmanAndreCarson?ref=search

  • Rico

I knew you’d come to your friend/fantasy man’s defense, Wilson. That’s so sweet.

  • Rico

…and what a way to ‘plug’ your favorite Liberal. (Uh, that’s media talk).

  • Wilson46201

by the way, “rico”, Congressman Carson was elected with a higher winning vote percentage than Mike Pence

Well, I have to report an Abdul sighting and he has lost weight! Whether he will report or not on the methods by which people, in the past, voted multiple times remains to be seen. However, his source for this information was impeccable.
It is almost good, for comical relief, to see the return of Wilson10001 (he of the 10,000 jobs from the Cultural Trail). I hear the Black Baptist Minister group is not going to be supportive of a Muslim and one who votes for government funded genocide. That is, Andre voted to use your tax dollars for abortions here, there, everywhere.
Wilson has always had problems with numbers and what they mean. Mike Pence is in a competitive district long held by the Democrat Mr. Phil Sharp. We will see if the 7th is similar although the readers of this forum seem to think not. Citizens would always be better off with competitive districts as the quality of candidates from both main parties would be of higher quality….in the case of the 7th….much higher.

Marvin Scott’s Facebook page is a hoot — rife with factual, spelling and grammatical errors. I often publicize it myself: it reflects so poorly on Dr. Scott’s candidacy!

Uh, Pascal….don’t know where you get your “facts”, but that distirct no more resembles Phil Sharp’s than a man in the moon.

    Redistricting, ya know?

  • indyernie

The Anybody But Carson political opinion yard signs are going so fast that I had to place ANOTHER order of five hundred signs. The bumper stickers are getting low also…another order will be placed before the end of September.
If the Carson/Pelosi congressional tag team is doing so well, why is there such an anti-Carson atmosphere this election cycle? What say Wilson?

Thanks for the link Wilson. Folks please go to the link above and after reading the propaganda listed there contact me for your very own “Anybody But Carson” political yard sign and bumper sticker. You can pick up one at 8444 E Washington St. just across from L Fish Furniture.

Again, thanks to Wilson for providing the link to Carsons’s Crap.

Hmm. What is it that I recall Mr. Pence running against Mr. Sharp at least twice….and losing? It was also nip and tuck when Mr. McIntosh ran and won. It is a competitive district if the dumbocraps would run real democrats instead of the crooks and thieves that the Indiana D. Party has come to be. Think Pension Fund theft of teachers and policemen and answer for the dumbocraps as to why any sane person would vote for such thieves.
Or, go silent as is your usual wont
