Out of the Craig Frying Pan

This can’t be good.

I’m getting word this evening from my sources at the Statehouse that the real reason Indiana lawmakers can’t get anything done is because House Democrats don’t have a majority to pass anything, instead they only have 50 votes,  and you need 51.

State Rep. Dennie Oxley, Sr. has been out with health problems and State Rep. Craig Fry is reportedly down in Florida watching spring training.  Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think taking off work during your potentially busiest time of the year is a good idea.  Especially when there are serious issues that need to be worked out.

Meanwhile sources say Senate Republicans keep caving into the Democrats on just about every issue, when Democrats don’t have the votes.

I’m going to try to sort all this out in the morning, but I can tell you one thing,  this is a heck of a way to close out the last days of session.

It looks like the Tribune got some things wrong and some things right. If I read you correctly you are defending your sources since all you did was report what they said. Your sources on the matter should now include Mr. Stilwell, I think. If I read right, the Speaker stated that Mr. Fry's absenting himself had NO BEARING on the delay. I think the truth matters. Don't you?
  • pascal
The Saturday March 13 issue of the South Bend Tribune reports via Kevin Allen, that Mr. Fry would have been willing to return on Wednesday or Thursday if his presence were needed. "I could have come home at any time if they needed a 51st vote", remarked Fry. The Tribune reports that Abdul Hakim-Shabazz of WXNT-AM of Indianapolis reported Thursday evening that Fry was in Florida...to watch baseball...and that his absence was dragging the session into extra days...". As I recall, Abdul reported what "his sources" fed him. His sources appear to be FOS where the F stands for Full, the O for of, and the S is left to the limited imagination of his "sources". If you believe the real reporter here who actually talked with Fry then the source you need to know is a guy named Stilwell who is alleged to have been in constant contact with Fry.

I stand by what I wrote. If you don't like it, take your business to another blog and have a nice day.

As to Schneider, there is right wing, and then there is the right thing. If I want to see sock puppets, I'll watch Kermit & Miss Piggy over Punch & Judy partisanship--blind following--any day.

Agreed, the vacuum moulded Lubbers is ideally suited for a do nothing position. I’m surprised she didn’t get a position as an Old Navy, Super Modelquin. Perhaps, the stick up her backside was too large?
  • Think Again
You're disappointed in Schneider? How the hell can that be? He just got there and he's further right than Atilla the Hun! Do you want him to be MORE right-wing?

Theresa got a good gig. Sit around all day with a staff of 12 and wring your hands about spiraling college costs...publicly smack the university presidents around every couple of years......do nothing about it...get $120K a year. Stan Jones perfected that cushy job.

In a lot of ways, she was perfect for it.

    Abdul,

This is funny. Keep up the humor. It is good for my heart.

There are only two things I don’t like about Cindy Noe--Her face. But, that may be said of all of the inmates in that ass-ylum.

What a disappointment Scott Schneider is as Theresa “This is what happens when you hold your Barbie too close to the stove” Lubber’s political doppelganger, as well.

Then you have Luke “COITus” Kenley. Able to stack manure higher than Milwaukee stacks Milorganite.

And then there is Mitchpoleon, the ringmasturbater of the entire bleeding circus.

The worst thing is that it is malignant. I used to be an R. Refuse to be a D. So, I suppose that leaves mercenary as my final choice.
  • Think Again
LOL Jack. I've dealt with Cindy Noe twice on specific legislation. She needed help to find the elevator.
  • jackthelad
Not one of them, on either side, is worth a cup of (name your Poison)! Perhaps if we let the Orkin Man fumigate the place whilst in session, it would counteract the Goofy Juice?

"Bubble Head" Bosma, Cindy "I can do mental splits" Noe, "Fat-Pat-Rat-Hat" Bauer are only the un-notables in this Star Wars Whore House.

All state, local and federal “government” needs a flush handle installed--And, used judiciously!
  • Chris
Due to the cost of taxpayers, maybe we can bill him?
  • Chris
It's one thing to make an issue on personal issues, but if this is true, it's a dereliction of duty.

He has agreed to serve the public, and unfortunately, that means you have to sacrifice trips with your family to FL. That is part of the sacrifice when the public honors you with their representation.
  • Think Again
I'm so dmaned tired of the SNAFU attitude by the Hosue leaderhsip--both sides of the aisle. Term limits need to kick in. Off with their heads.

Bosma is no better. He's rarely out their with his own ideas, just "the Democrats are crazy."

Not being Democratic, is not enough this year. And in some areas, it could be poison.

Someone please name me one House member of either stripe, who's been there past 4 terms, who's worth a cup of warm spit. And if you say Hinkle, Noe, Bosma, Fry, Bauer, Espich...you'd be wrong.

All the good stuff has been coming form younger members (well, younger in experience).

We need leadership. Period. And I don't care where it comes from any more.
  • John Howard
Rep Fry can't possibly be missing. Speaker Bauer would have been on TV bad mouthing him for obstructing progress. Oh, wait... Fry's a Democrat, isn't he?
  • pascal
Fry made plans well in advance. It is not his problem that the House decided, via their leader, to take a paid vacation for a week. Same thing with Burton's golf, pay money for airfare, schedule a tournament for charity and then be blindsided by a Speaker playing games.
It must be cheering to libertarians to watch R's stampede themselves into squishes.
  • Think Again
Fry was always an arrogant cuss. Bauer enabled him.
  • Rico
....how about burnin' some folks at the stake?
  • wilson46201
Yes indeedy Rico -- in addition to hanging, Blacks were routinely doused with gasoline and burned in lynchings. Of course, civilized human beings consider "burning at the stake" cruel and unusual punishment, expressly banned by the U.S. Constitution.

Rico reveals his inner brutishness and brutality with such disgusting calls. Please talk to your pastor about your sick urges !

I've got multiple sources confirming this tonight as soon as my twitter feed went out. Go get your torches and pitchforks.
  • seanshepard
Torches and pitchforks? I keep waiting...
  • Hector
Before the mobs storm the Statehouse, why doesn't someone confirm or deny the rumor that Fry is in Florida at Spring training. Too much emotion being spent on unconfirmed rumors.
  • Indiana_Barrister
I'm now hearing his flight returns tomorrow. But will it land in Indy or up north?
  • Taxpayer 834512
Both Skunks and Weasels to me, but Bauer lowers the deck on a GOPer at a fundraiser while one of his own is at "spring training". You're kidding, right?

I thought it was just something in the water. But, as imperfect as ethics reform may be, it would never have never gotten off the ground without state newspapers raising cane (complete with stats and pictures), during an election year. It's ironic the Speaker referred this morning to bills being held "hostage". I wonder who was the chief obstacle to ethics reform being passed - year after year.....
