Stimulating Indy

Want to know what the city of Indianapolis would like to spend economic stimulus on?  Click here.

The total cost, $268,323,010.

  • Think Again

Who made the decisions about Indy’s allocations? Congress, the city, both?

And what the hell is “Top 30 Residentials” ?

  • Silent Bob

Maybe Gov. Daniels will get a pair and join many of his Republican Govs and reject the bailout money. He has always braged about Indiana’s financial standing. Rush was right about this stuff and I am glad he speaks for the GOP.

Check out what Carmel would like to spend the stimulus money on. It is giant compared to Indianapolis.

    This isn’t a bailout. It’s a handout.
    .
The only practical item is bike paths and pedestrian ways. We’re gonna need ‘em when service and retail gets much worse into the 4th quarter and 2010. Folks are gonna need safe ways to get back and forth when automobiles become less affordable. Sanitary sewer upgrades are important but I’d have to see the plan before buying into it’s sustainability. If it’s not modular with localized hubs (as opposed to one large single system) I wouldn’t drop another dime into it.
    .
I can tell you one thing for certain. If I were Walmart or some other company whose been relying upon cheap Chinese resources, I’d be salivating over the current economic crisis. As service and retail dries up in the US and people are out looking for any job they can find, and as commercial real estate faces the same bubble that we’re facing in housing, I’d have two aces up my sleeve: As the largest low-cost retailer, I know that my custome base will expand as median income levels deteriorate. And as those incomes deteriorate and jobs dry up, I know that I can shift my cheap manufacturing base from China back to the US.
    .
In fact, if I were an economist working for large mulit-national corporations, that’s a strategy I would have lobbied for. Maybe I could encourage government to eliminate trade barriers so that protectionism wouldn’t effect my bottom line.

Abdul or anyone: Who comes up with the “jobs created” for each of these? 150 jobs for bike trails and pathways? Come on! Years ago I read the plan to expand the Monon further north and branch it to an east/west directions and I don’t believe that plan included 150 people.
    .
Who is coming up with the number of jobs being created? 10 jobs to replace hardware and computer software? C’mon! I’m starting to smell something and it smells like bull poop.

  • Tax Payer

What about our stupid Mayor and his arrogant wife, and their China Town?

  • Buzzy Whitlow

I vote for the sewer project. First, we need to replace our nineteenth century sewers very badly; and second, it is such a big project that it will keep a number of folks employed for a long time. And isn’t that the supposed goal of the stimulus in the first place?

I like the list. If we are going to be broke later, we might as well be broke with good functional sewers and infrastructure.
    .
They better not let Ir$ay and $imon cut in the stimulus line.

We’ve only just begun. Don’t take the money so when the Free Republic of Indiana comes about in a few years, we won’t owe money to the SSA (Socialist States of America).

Looks like Carmel is on a full court press to get taxpayer money…

    interesting.

    I sincerely hope Mitch passes.

  • Think Again

So, Rush speaks for the GOP, huh?

This Democrat certainly hopes so. He’s entertaining, but…taking your cues from a pill-popping, twice-divorced gasbag is not what the GOP needs right now.

I’d be a little more scared if you said Gov. Crist, or Gov. Pawlenty. They’re doing practical governing.

Chinatown…hmmmmm…..how about the area just north of Fountain Square, south of downtown? Or, the entire town of Speedway?

TA, that is what is wrong with Libs like you. You think that we cannot discern between entertainment and truth. Well, I for one can. Regardless of what you may think, your thoughts are NOT superior to anyone else’s. No go tell the rest of your lib group the same thing, they need to hear it too.
