Give Me Libertarian…

I’m working on a project this weekend, but I wanted to let you all my producer at WXNT, Chris Spangle, will be leaving the morning show.

Chris has taken a position at the new Executive Director of the Indiana Libertarian Party.

Chris is bright and has a lot of ideas and will bring some new blood to the Libertarians.  Heck, he might even win a couple elections.

He’s come a long way from the kid who listened to the morning show and hated it, which is kind of funny now that you think about it.

We’re making the official announcement on Monday.

Good luck, Spangle!

As a theatre guy, I imagine you appreciate the “foil” he’s been for you. His youth, race, income, religion, and political background providing an interesting contrast (and needed herding). Chris will do well in life & good luck to his successor.

    Looking for a new producer??

    hehe..

  • Mike B

    CONGRATS Chris,

Chris and I worked together on the Horning campaign back in 2004. Yes he has come a long way baby !

Good luck and have FUN !

    Mike b.

  • schoolboardgreg

    Chris,
I’ll miss your contribution to the show.

  • Think Again

Taxpayer is right. Chris’s enthusiasm and the fact he’ll not let you off the hook easily, ahve made the show a good morning pick-me-up.

Not sure about the job, but, hey…everyone has to believe something, right?

I thoroughly enjoyed his banter with you on the show. When does he leave? His last show should be a heck of a good time.

  • Tom

Andrew Hornung is becoming the new Harold Stassen. I think it is time to hang it up.

  • John Martello

Well, we wish Chris the best.

We stopped listening some time ago, as we felt the program had taken on an overwhelmingly sophomoric tone.

Perhaps a bit more mature coverage is soon to come. Abdul, you do not need a ’sidekick’. You need a quiet producer.

    Good intentions here.

  • Rico

    Good Luck, Chris!
But who now will wipe the drool from Abdul’s chin when he fawns over Obama?

  • Taxpayer 834512

I wouldn’t say it’s been exactly a bang-up week to disparage Libertarians. Our incumbent representation has gotten us into an exqusite mess – bipartisanly. Nor would I say everyone’s a happy camper in this or the prior electoral process. Benevolent monarchy’s looking better….Throwing darts….Senator-by-lottery……Arm-wrestling contests…….

  • http://www.chris-spangle.com Chris Spangle

Thanks all, and thanks to Abdul for the shout out.

And when I find Martello, I am going to put him in a headlock and give him a noogie.

  • Gene

Good luck, Chris. I hope you can reenergize the Libs…the only issue in recent years I’ve heard them rail about was the smoking ban…nothing on the Lucas Oil boondoggle, nothing on the new light rail boondoggle.

LPIN has a voice and an approach that is very different from the combined Dem/Repub party – get in the game !

  • Think Again

Well, the Libs were wrong on the smoking ban, but they need to follow their natural appeal: money.

Their views on budget and expense are quality.

Speaking of which, just for giggles, where the hell do they get the moeny to pay any staff?

Oh yeah, they also need to fan out and get some more candidates. Rehashing the same ones over and over with quotable but unworkable soundbites, is getting a little old.

Maybe that’s why they hired Chris–to find good candidates. If so, more power to ‘em.

Some free advice Chris: screen those candidates well. One klunker on the ticket will ruin months of your hard work.

  • Rico

Somebody should have given Joe Biden that advice.

  • Think Again

Rico, honey, it’s time for your meds.

It’ll all be over in four weeks. Get used to saying: Vice President Biden.

At least he can string together two coherent English sentences.

  • Rico

See what I mean? You’d rather be told a lie than the truth, as long as the lie is told by an articulate, eloquent person. Character and substance don’t seem to matter to folks like you.
I do apreciate the revelation of your gender (uh..or orientation) in your greeting to me. It explains away some of your apparent disdain for Gov. Palin.

  • Think Again

Rico, you guessed wrong, but then you’re rarely right on here…nothing new.

I don’t need lies form anyone. With Sarah, it’s particularly difficult to tell exactly what she’s saying because she butchers the language so badly. But what I heard Thursday evening was about one-third tall tale, one-third distortion, and one-third brain overload.

    I’m betting that last one-third wasn’t difficult.

I’ve had it with presidents, or presidential wannabes, who cannot speak well enough to avoid comedians’ jabs. Words do matter. McCain is an excellent speaker, and his verbiage is often well-thought-out. His policies are something else, but he sounds like he understands his issues. Not so Sarah.

W has made a career out of butchering the language, and Sarah is a willing student of that gibberish. It demonstrates a clear lack of intellectual curiosity or depth.

Also golly gee youo betcha heck fire.

  • varangianguard

    Congratulations, Chris!

But now, Abdul will be able to have you on as a guest.

  • Becky Williams

Chris, you will be missed! Good luck in all you do. I’m concerned with who will keep Abdul in line with you gone.

  • Rico

Like an abused dog, you keep going back for more.

And you’ve already demonstrated your regard for the truth. Why should I expect anything more from you with regard to my observation about your greeting?

  • StatlernWaldorf

My god TA and Rico. This thread is about CHRIS, not you two.
    -
Chris, I wish you luck and hope you can help make the Liberatarian a viable party. We need something OTHER than the traditional 2 party system around here. I hope that with the inside info you have garnered from being with Abdul you can get them on the right track.
    -
You know how to get ahold of me if you need my help with anything. CG/SnW

  • Silent Bob

Stop picking on Rico and other sensible Repubs. Don’t judge McCain by Palin. People vote for the person who will become PRESIDENT.

  • Taxpayer 834512

Silent Bob: I salute you. Chinese water tortune has got nothing on you. Why influence through logic, deduction, debate, or history when persistently donning the mask of an unyielding fool will eventually do the job for you? A tip of the sake to you.

  • Disgusted

    Off Topic….

I am furious about Kravitz racist article in Sun Star. What a fool….How can he make a comparison between Helio and Vick. Killing and torturing dogs does not come close to a (possible) financial crime.

    Just curious about others thoughts.

  • Tom

I was wondering why Chris has to quit the show, then I remembered it’s the Republicans who control the public airwaves.

  • Jerry

Oh, oh, another fan of the Fairness Doctrine!
While we’re at it, lets make sure TV, Cable, Newspapers and the Internet have to have 50% / 50% coverage. You don’t think Abdul would stop this blog if he was forced to always give equal coverage to each side?
    -
Best of luck Chris, at least you don’t have to listen to any more fat jokes.

  • Rico

It’s part of the big plan, Jerry. Control the schools, control the airwaves(information), disarm the citizenry,….. Sound familiar?

  • Jon G

Congrats and best of luck Chris…….see you at the track in May?

  • Tom

No Jerry & Rico. There are plenty of optional opinions in those other venues. I don’t even mind that talk radio is predominantly “conservative”. (Barry Goldwater would spin in his grave to hear what passes for that philosophy now.) I just don’t like the public airwaves to be used for one long venomous political ad for a specific party and candidate. I don’t think that my opinion is unreasonable.
