ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER 525,600 MINUTES

Today your favorite (fill-in-the-blank) turns another year older.  When someone asks my age I tell them “I’m old enough to know the difference between right and wrong and still young to act with occasional wildness abandonment.”

I do find that as I get older, I find myself keeping a more even temper about things.  I’ve adopted the rule that for every moment of joy, rapture and divinity the universe gives you, there has to be an equally excruciating moment of pain.  It’s like a great night of wine, women, cigars and songs followed by a really bad hangover the next day.

I will admit to every once in a while throwing a grenade or two to stir things up, but that’s only when things have gotten too quiet around here.

I consider myself a very fortunate individual.  I’m doing what I love and getting paid for it.  I have a great family, an awesome circle of friends and a woman who can see past all the bravo and bluster, see me for who I really am,  and still likes me anyway.  She should be nominated for sainthood.

I’m taking the rest of the day off and will post again on Tuesday.  Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and take a second to remember what this day is really about; the men and women who laid down their lives for this nation, so we could enjoy the freedoms that we have.

Personally, I picked an age I like and I’m sticking with it…I’m 29 forever. H.B.T.Y.

    Abdul,

KUDOS, KUDOS KUDOS to your sidekick Tully on his most recent article on the Indy Star regarding Mayor Ballard. He has finally written something worthy of ink. And a shame on you for not having him on your show to elaborate.

    Good Fortune has followed Ballard

It seems to me that Tully couldn’t find anything else to write about so he had to change his tune and bash the mayor. “Luck.” What does luck have to do with it. The fact that Ballard got elected and the CCC is R now has nothing to do with luck but everything to do with the fact that we didn’t think that the D’s where getting the job done. Mayor Ballard could have passes on the super bowl if he wanted to but his administration getting it only proves that Peterson’s failed at his attempt-Ballard won , Peterson lost. And getting the police dept. turned around only proves the ineptness of the previous administration. How does any of what Tully describes prove luck, it only seems to highlight a case of the failure of the Peterson regime. Oh, if you look at our winters over the past few years you would find that we have been very mild with few significant snowfalls, so is that luck too?

It is very simple. Tully is a putz and too many people give him credit for something he hasn’t earned. Everyone kisses his ass because he is the political hack for the lame excuse of a paper this town has to offer.

Tully should be thanking his lucky stars. He is like the local weathermen, paid to give us their opinion but not taken to task when they are wrong. Which way is the wind blowing today? Just read Tully and you will find out.

I take Mr. Tully and the paper to task for giving the late Ms. Carson too much slack. I’m not a fan of dynasties, be they Egyptian, the Yankees, or Center township. I thank him for lambasting Dan Burton. Most of all, for better bringing the Phoenix situation to the light of day.
