What a shock. I’m going back to doing the dishes. This is a foregone conclusion. Long live the carson dynasty. yuk

  • BigRic

Wow. He won on the first round. There’s a statement. Thanks for the latest breaking new Abdul.

This is a sad day for my party. It clearly hasn’t learned its lesson from last November. I hope many of my fellow Democrats will join me in voting for Jon Elrod (assuming he’s the Republican nominee), and support another Democrat in the May primary.

Apparantly Carson’s last name and poor qualifications were just too much for the party insiders to resist.

I’m a little surprised that Carolene didn’t come in a close second but a distant 4th. Somehow I’m not shocked by the results with Andre being the favorite of party insiders. Wish I was there to see it from your view…Keep it up Abdul!

    What a pathetic choice

    Vox,
I’m voting in the Republican slating and I’ll be voting for Jon. I’m sure he’ll appreciate your support.

  • http://www.blueindiana.net Vox Populi

Chad, so far that support extends only for March 11, but maybe after May depending on the results of my party’s primary.

  • http://www.vote4miller2008.org Chad Miller

Vox, I completely understand. The great thing about the primary is that the people vote for the general election candidate. To some degree I was hoping for Carolene Mays to win today. Perhaps another time.

I gotta say I am with Vox Populi on this one. I will be supporting Jon Elrod if he is slated for the special and will be backing David Orentlicher for the Democratic Primary in May. Should Carson also win the primary I will probably vote for the Libertarian in November.

  • http://www.vote4miller2008.org Chad Miller

Otherwise, I hope its Elrod all the way!

  • Snark

Vox Populi: This is a sad day for my party.

Disgusted sez: What a pathetic choice.

Oh, well. We Democrats had a good run. Looks like a Republican victory coming up in the Seventh to go along with our loss of the Mayor!

  • thundermutt

One can easily imagine Andre Carson winning the special election. That sort of thing happens all the time when Senators and Represenatatives die in office and a family member (usually spouse or child) or key staffer is the sentimental favorite to fill out the term.

    Focus on May.

This, from the party that railed on endlessly about Greg Ballard’s ‘inexperience’? Oh, wait, Their guy has had 2 months of experience, sitting in around 4 City County Council meetings.

The last remaining hope is that the people of this district are smarter than the democrats are willing to think we are.

  • anonymous

Great. More of the same crap representation proposed by the D’s.

  • Mrs. Precinct

I was there. We just handed the election to the Republicans.

  • fed up

Well, it seems the republican party has decided that the black democrats, thus Carson, will retain the 7th as agreed upon every 2 years. When will everyone wake up and realized this?!!!!

The Marion County Republican Party is promoting Elrod who promotes the gay rights agenda; unfortunately republicans don’t widely support gays. The State Party is pushing a guy named Rose who is a “Ron Franklin” like candidate for the state republicans.

All to assure nice smooth “sure” elections for everyone except those in the 7th District who must suffer two more years of lack of meaningful representation.

We need NEW party leaders, period and for Indianapolis to stay AWAKE!

  • fed up

Isn’t it odd that Carson and Mays received the most applause when introduced but Mays only had a paltry 26 votes?

In Mays fashion I’m sure she “paid” some people to create a “public perception” that she is important, liked, and admired. (not)

The truth revealed itself though and the clapping and cheering did not:

“psyche others into thinking that Mays was favored, due to the cheering, so vote for her when you get up there or ‘you’ll face Carolene’s Mays wrath’ after she wins”. It was all intimidation–the Mays way.

Who were those people clapping and hooting for Carolene Mays, obviously not voters. She is so “phoney” it makes me puke.

She has been running campaign commercials on Brighthouse TV, disquised as official communications, for a several years now attempting to attract senior citizens votes for her run at congress. She couldn’t wait for Julia Carson to die and despised her. I wonder if she paid for the airtime with Brighthouse cable or did they ‘donate it’ as part of the required community program component with the City of Indianapolis?

Can everyone else get such free commericals?

The Mays’ are under every rock that has a nickle under it.

    GREED!!!!!!!

FedUp–Mays had a huge contingent in the balcony, these were volunteers who came with her to set up. The PC’s were not favorably disposed toward her.

  • Fed Up 2

I agree with Fed Up and I am so relieved that Carolene Mays didn’t win. I’ve watched her antics in the statehouse and the 7th would have been sold down the river.
