My Dinner with Democrats
I attended the Indiana State Democrat Annual Dinner last night, much to the surprise of a few folks. U.S. House Majority Steny Hoyer was the keynote speaker and the crowd was very receptive to the usual cast of characters, Bart Peterson, Pat Bauer, Julia Carson, Evan Bayh, etc. Also getting warm regards were new Congressmen Joe Donnelly and Brad Ellsworth and returning Congressman Baron Hill.
As I sat down to eat one of the people at the tabled asked me why was I there? I said to see if I could get a free meal from the Democrats like I did the Republicans. They wondered how I could do that, insinuating that I don’t like them. That is so far from the truth. Fundamentally, I like everybody. I have very good relationships with members of all three parties, there are women in all three parties I wouldn’t mind dating and there are people in all three parties that I can’t stand.
I give my Democratic friends grief in Marion County not because they’re Democrats, but because they’re in charge and this County’s crucial problems are happening on their watch. If the GOP were running things, I’d be all over them. My criticism isn’t so much about party, but position. And Democrats are in the top position in Indianapolis. And I reminded my Democratic friends that with my criticism there are three things they can never say: I’m not fair, don’t do my homework, nor am I wrong.

Abdul, what you saw is the typical Democrat response. Even the lovely Judy O’Bannon made such comments to a Republican that went along the lines, “I didn’t know Republicans could be so nice.”
I just hope you didn’t drink from the kool aid they sent around.

Luftwaffe chief Hermann Goering was also widely considered charming, witty and a delightful dinner guest. True, he was a tad more conservative than your average Republican!

Wilson, are calling Abdul a Nazi???!!! That’s low even for you.
May 6th, 2007 at 11:56 am
“truthteller” is obviously not a good example of a surprisingly congenial, nice Republican — sorta proves the rule, it seems…
May 6th, 2007 at 5:08 pm
Wilson, calling Abdul a Nazi?! Just pitiful.
May 7th, 2007 at 4:30 am
Wilson is a white bigot and self-appointed spokesman for the Democrats Ghetto Mafia.
May 7th, 2007 at 5:28 am
Isn’t it ironic that all the nasty namecallers are hiding behind fake names - ashamed of their lies and slanders … their gross lack of civility brings disrespect to their beloved GOP!
May 7th, 2007 at 8:29 am
Wilson, your lack of civlity brings disrespect to your beloved Democratic party!
May 7th, 2007 at 8:31 am
Being “open” with your namecalling, lies and slanders does not make you a better person, Wilson. In fact, noone even comes close to filling that role the way you do. So what does it matter if some people are anonymous when the worst offender of all is so open about it?

Abdul, maybe the strangeness of you hanging with the Dems had something to do with you law firm affiliation? Your barely concealed contempt for Speaker Bauer (at least that is defensible!)? Your November 7th bad mood as evidenced on radio?
I consider you to be a right-leaning journalist, but journalist first. You are certainly no partisan hack, but you hang with the Burton crowd, you get labeled as the Burton crowd (not that he recognizes you)

Hey timb,
No offense but you confuse me. The Speaker and I get along well and I actually prefer divided government. So you may want to double check your perspective.

A certain anonymous nobody has lost her downtown law office — if she doesnt pay her delinquent property taxes pronto, she’ll lose her home too!
May 7th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
Abdul, I didn’t know being a “right-leaning journalist” was a bad thing? Do you know how few journalists there are in this country let alone this state? Whether you and Pat are buddies are not (I suppose more likely than you and Melina Kennedy!), you know everyone, you do your homework, and you try to be fair, despite your leanings. You are the only radio personality with inside dope (besides John Ketzenberger) who I would listen to. And, the ladies from the Statehouse, who are lobbyists, committee workers, or Republican lawyers talk about how nice and cut you are.
Take a compliment, even if it is tempered with realism
May 7th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
timb: thanks for the compliment.
Wilson: I know who you’re talking about. No one lost their law office, they moved because of the crime.

if she doesnt pay her delinquent property taxes pronto, she’ll lose her home too!
Is Julia Carson late paying her property taxes AGAIN!!!

Abdul, I got a couple of good photos of you and Hoyer at the J-J Dinner - what Email address can I use to send them to you? I can’t find an address here on this site!

Wilson, you have been placed on the “NO TRESPASS” list at 120 E. Market Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204 as well as at my home address. If you enter onto my property again, I’ll be forced to get a restraining order and have you prosecuted for “Stalking”. If you enter onto 120 E. Market, the location of my office, you will be arrested for trespassing.
I don’t know “who” you are or “how” you became so facinated with me,–I’ve never held a coversation with you, nor have I ever met you. You will receive no further communications from regarding this matter, all other communications will be in the form of legal notice.
Darla Y. Williams, Attorney at Law.

I just stopped in at 120 E.Market this morning — the security guard said you’d moved out — he didnt know where you’d moved to exactly — he thought your home. Yup, you are still delinquent over $1000 on your taxes (public record via the Treasurers Office)
And you forgot the sad Dickerson campaign so soon? You’ve met and talked to me — you also know exactly who discovered the damning police reports on Eric’s bitten daughter.
May 7th, 2007 at 4:45 pm
Besides, didn’t Abdul himself just say you moved out of 120 E. Market because of “crime”? What’s the real story here? Why the attempted obfuscation?
May 7th, 2007 at 8:37 pm
Abdul - Isn’t it finally reaching the point that Wilson ought to be banned from this blog? He contributes nothing, other than personal and slanderous attacks. The continuing platform that you and others give to him is starting to verge on irresponsibility. Please lock him out. And if he signs back on using a different name, then lock that out too. I’m sure it will become obvious quickly enough.

Wilson, speaking of elections, what a HORRIBLE job Beth White has done with this Primary election. I am curious to hear how you are going to defend this atroscity. Empty promises and disenfranchising voters, what a great legacy for the Dems! Pitiful!
May 8th, 2007 at 7:29 am
It will be interesting to hear/read Wilson’s comments on Beth White’s SPECTACULAR running of this election. I am sure it will be the republicans fault.
