The Bar that’s Not in a Government Building
I’ve spent the past few days tracking down a story about a police incident at the Carmel home of an Indiana Pacer so I didn’t get a chance to comment on this. However everybody seems to have an opinion on Carl Brizzi and his 10 percent ownership Harry’s and Izzi’s which is under construction in Circle Center Mall.
There is a question as to whether a county prosecutor can own an interest in an establishment that serves alcohol. There appears to be conflicting case law in the matter. RTV 6, which I play news analyst, offers one theory and the posts over at Advance Indiana offer another theory.
I haven’t had a chance to look at all the facts, but I will. However, I have a hard time believing that the lone county-wide elected Republican in a Democrat-controlled County would purposely open himself to an attack over something like this if the answer was an easy one.
And for the record, Circle Center Mall is not a government building and there’s probably a lease agreement more than one-page long.

Actually, if you want to get technical, I think Circle Center Mall is a government-owned building (or CIB),…
Not to split the hair too thinly.

Actually I like to think of myself as an independent-leaning hypocrit and not a member of any political party. But thanks for reading the blog.

What’s the point of Brizzi having the juice if he can’t use it?

And Abdul…I bet they pulled permits to build out the space

11:48 PM Don’t the Simons own that mall? At least that’s who the owner of the Maggie Moo’s in Circle Center writes the rent check out to every month. City money back in the Hudnut days I think paid for acquisition and demolition.

Who does own Maggie Moos? Eric Dickerson’s official financial disclosure form to Congress did NOT report ownership. The place is run by a disgraced former school principal – that ice cream store is actually owned by a corporation oddly named “Schools Out”. So who owns that Indiana corporation? Couldnt be Dickerson who did not disclose such ownership under penalties of perjury.

Dear Perplexed.
What business is it of yours who own’s Maggie Moos or any other business that does not belong to YOU. Mind your OWN business…it’s crumbling.

The issue isn’t who owns the building. The issue here was the Brizzi is a law enforcement officer and they can’t get alcohol permits. Like it or not, it’s the law and one would expect an elected prosecutor whose wife had a nice little paid position with the State dealing with alcohol laws to know this. It’s not like Carl has been so busy in court that he couldn’t have taken the time to research this . . . .
