Illegal Immigration & Indiana – In Their Own Words

I’ve been posting some interviews over on IndyPolitics.Org regarding the immigration debate following the U.S. Supreme Court decision on the Arizona law.  I’ve decided to repost the interviews here.

The only interview I haven’t been able to do yet is with State Senator Mike Delph, the author of Indiana’s illegal immigration law.  Delph and I plan to get together soon.  When we do, I will post his interview here as well

Angela Adams – Local immigration attorney ( 8 minutes)

Jose Gonzales – Owner of La Voz de Indiana, the state’s largest bilingual newspaper. (5 min each)

“Maria” and “Natsha” – Two Indianapolis-area women.  Maria is a recently naturalized citizen.  Natasha is an illegal immigrant. (10 minutes)

Interview-sminterview—all the more to drag it out-We now have government against we the legal taxpaying, showing our I.D.,  law-abiding citizens, going broke paying for all of this. All of this mess comes from the  government  including the Supreme court who did nothing that smacks of any resolution just send it all back to more legalizing. All those, so smart ones -who care ony to get elected and it is politics first and what is right for America is last. Send up the smokescreen ,so the people can  argue this and  that, all the while the current laws are  ignored by the very people who are supposed to enforce them. So here we are -woe woe -powerless except to complain. None of this immigration business would have occured if government was doing its job over their years-updating and fixing as it went along. As Royko once wrote “We suffer from terminal jurisprudence”.

The Senator is probably the only one worth interviewing.

  • Ramon

Most immigrants are law abiding citizens and pay taxes.  You have swallowed whole the entire bigotry b.s. spewing from the radical right wing.

  • Scooter

Most immigrants come in thru the ‘front door’… the LEGAL way.

    There’s the problem… the illegals.

In my lifetime there’s been 6 or 7 amnesty programs with the promise that it would be the last time.

    Yeah, sure.

Wanna see World Records set for the 100M, 400M, 1500M, 5000M & marathon in Indianapolis??

Drive up to a construction site in a full-sized GMC SUV, get out with a bullhorn & holler:  “IMMIGRATION!”  and “ICE!!”

(All you’ll see is elbow, asshole & shoe sole.)

On second thought…. I think it was the DNC saying it was the right-wing 1 %’ers that wanted the illegals so they could have cheap labor.

  • Oops?

    Really, Mr. Meacham?

  • Ramon

I will stand by my previous post with the following clarification for the finger pointers like Scooter who have no basis for their allegations.    Most undocumented immigrants  are law abiding and pay taxes.

  • Pascal

All you are doing with your clarification is stating that 51% are as you say but that 49% might be zombies, murderers, rapists, terrorists, or thumbsuckers.  I don’t follow things too closely but seems to me that someone who broke our laws to get into our county is ipso facto, not a law abiding person.  Do you mean to say that after busting numbers of laws by getting here illegally that they generally buy car insurance, and abide by all the rest of the laws that they know of?

Every time I hear the term “illegals” I immediately think of the US gubmint.  I guess the difference being the “foreign illegals” come here to work and the “elected illegals” are only concerned with stealing from the public.

  • Rico

Please don’t try to reason with poor Ramon.  His head may implode.

  • Ellyn

May I comment the only reason I stumbled on this because our government will make my fiancé of nearly 5 years hace to go back 18 mos and up to 10 years plus fines and about 10,000 in lawyers and i told it would help if I had severe medical conditions so therefore we are not getting married yet we have had rings and had gotten all the clothes dates and plans settle thanks u.s. gov two people that have known each other for 12 years and been a couple for almost 5 it really hurts and I checked his record the trouble he has EVER been in was a learners permit violation

  • John Howard

No, from what you say he entered this country illegally. That makes TWO things on his record. The first one was a biggie.

  • unsatisfied Citizen

Law abiding citizens well I was married to an Illegal he hit me and the police charged him money and let him go he also has some D.U.I.s same thing got more money and is still living in the U.S.A. and has a good paying job. His boss has been turned into the I.C.E. department and all that the boss did was pay out some money. You know what you say tax paying too well Do you think that its fair for illegals to be able to use children from Mexico like Nephews and Niece’s on their taxes and since their are so much Kids that they just borrow each others relatives. Is that fair?
