Clickety on down at the CDC link: an estimated 46,000 deaths per year from second-hand smoke.  And over $5 billion a year in medical expenses.  Someone pays that.  Private insurers, you, me….

Now please give up on that sorry-assed excuse.  The “freedom” argument makes much more sense.  It’s a loseer, too, but it makes more sense.

Try this on for size:

Govt. has, for a century or more, regulated vital public health issues.

You cannot use formica in a restaurant kitchen because cuts can harbor germs.  Stainless steel is favored.

You cannot smoke in a kitchen.  For obvious reasons.

You must have a certain number of parking spaces and exit doors.

It’s a natural progression and link.
