The Black Church & The Mayor’s Race

I sat down and spoke Thursday with Pastor Ron Covington of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on the Indianapolis Mayor’s race.  Democrat Melina Kennedy had just met with Covington and about a dozen other ministers.

He commented on her visit as well as the state of the Mayor’s race from the perspective of the Black Church.  Covington has the unique position of being a member of the Ten-Point Coalition and the Baptist Ministers Alliance of Indianapolis.  Two groups who are at odds at times in the Mayor’s race.

    I’s always funny to me how some folks get bent out of shape about the alliance between some black ministers and the Democratic Party.  Ist’s funny because:

    It’s impossible to trace accurately, because the black community is now spread out all over Indianapolis.  But IF you buy the assumption that Center holds most church-going blacks, you might want to consider:

    Center historically has THE lowest turnout of registered voters in the county.  Sometimes, it’s downright ugly.  

    It’s all about getting out your base.  Each party knows exactly, precisely where that base is.  Street-by-street.

    And for Democrats, it’s not just Center.  Not even close.

    Still a huge admirer of Rev. Harrison and all the 10-Pt. folks do.  Quiet warriors.  They don’t seek or demand press.

    Maafa 21 was shown many times during Black Expo. Any Black Minister who has not seen this propraganda concerning Black Genocide in the 21st Century America ought to.  While it seems that Republicans brought Abortion in great numbers to America, currently it is the Democrats who embrace it.  Black legislators in the Indiana Statehouse seem most eager to carry Planned Parenthood bills.  It isn’t funny.

    The pastor’s response to traditional perception, that black Americans vote single party, was that it’s a thing of the past.  Enter candidates, with a genuine message & outreach.

    I just don’t get it.  The Born Alive Infants Protections Act was opposed by mostly black legislators–including our Thug-in-Chief.

    The most ‘liberal’ member of the Supreme Court, Ruth Ginsburg, favored abortion to control the black population(according to her own words). The Dems have done NOTHING but perpetuate hardship for the black community.  Herman Cain is right–blacks have been brainwashed to vote Democrat.  Agreed. It is not funny.

    Calling our U.S. President “Thug-in-Chief” is a great way to brainwash Black voters AWAY from the GOP/TeaParty — keep it up!

    As much as race-baiting losers like yourself would like to paint such a comment as racist, it has NOTHING to do with his pigment.  How many examples do you want? Chumming around with the King of thugs Jimmy Hoffa, marching with the New Black Panthers, “…..they bring a knife, we bring a gun..”, “…punish your enemies”, “..hit back harder..”., etc., etc.  He’s a Chicago politician Thug.  Nothing more! 

    By the way, YOUR president has made it clear–he is not OUR president.  He is only the president to his supporters (for example, painfully naive folks like you and Think Again).

    While I don’t like a lot of what our president has done, he is still our president and the Thug in chief comment is out of line. When all else fails,play the thug card.

    Wilson, Stockholm Syndrome is inappropriate for men when they are being exterminated.   Even Jesse Jackson knew that Abortion was Genocide before he sold out. Where are the Black Legislators who haven’t gone down for nickles and dimes?
