May I Direct Your Attention

I was out all day yesterday attending funeral services for my wife’s aunt so I did not get a chance to put something together for this morning.  I will have something up this afternoon.  In the meantime, check out my column in today’s Indianapolis Star.  I write about entitlements and how the people who get them need to get with the program if we’re going to turn this country away from financial ruin.  I’ll be back this afternoon.

Madame DeFarge is not going to be very happy with your comments.  The Jacobins are getting restless.  I salute them.

Teach a man to fish, you feed him for life.  Give him a fish, and you’re guaranteed his vote.

  • cynical sam

Hmmmmm, gives a new slant to “fishing for votes”.

    What about carp?

In Chicago, will you get two votes for Yellow Fin Tuna (and will the voters be deader than the fish)?

    Nah, she loves chocolate.

Abdul’s comments about entitlements are ironic.  No one exhibits an aura of entitlement more than Abdul.   He is entitled to the Columbia Club, martinis and his expensive cigars.  The people he is talking about are hoping for help in getting food and medicines to regain their health.

  • Sassy

I believe Abdul pays his membership dues, buys his own drinks and cigars with money that he earned.
Thats the difference between Abdul and the entitled who stay home smoking dope and snorting crack while making more babies that others will have to support.

Paul Ogden is spreading a rumor that Abdul is out at WXNT.

    What’s up?

    WIBC come calling?

Come back when you know how to read.

I can’t disagree that Abdul is not exactly a symbolic sea of tranquility in our burgeoning class war.  However, our vision of massive ”redistribution” is right up there with romance without finance.

The most maddening thing about the wimpy debt ceiling deal is that for all the angst over a 21 cents reduced for 50K dollars ratio, both sides didn’t have the balls to tackle entitlements (this side of provider reimbursements for medicare).

60%+ of our spending basically ignored out of fear by our public servants, as our credit rating is downgraded.  About as good a sales job for a benevolent monarchy as I can think of.

England is trying to be adults about it, and you see how well that’s going over.  It gets worse the longer we wait.

Out of poor choices, I suggest percentage increases in cuts and taxation across-the-board, or a dollar amount “contributed” varying over 2-3 income brackets (whether taxes paid and/or benefits reduced).  Without simplicity, finger-pointing never stops.

While there may well be blood in the streets before this is over, we can certainly guarantee it with no perception of sacrifice by all.

We would do well to have a leader.

And doesn’t know how to driver?  Are you really that beat?

Entitlement is the wrong term. You are not entitled to a damn thing Ramon. I take it from your post that you are one of the parasitic amoebas Abdul was talking about in his article. No one owes you a living. You need to get an education then  job and then a LIFE. If you would be willing to put i the hard work Abdul has, you could have martini’s, expensive cigars and a membership to the Columbia club. But you and the scum like you expect everything to be handed to you. please Ramon, explain in detail, why you feel that you or anyone else is “Entitled” to the tax money that hardworking Americans give to the Government.

  • cynical sam

I don’t know about you, but I really don’t need a leader. I will assume the position of leader for myself. I will accept full responsibility for all my actions. I will accept full responsibility to carry on in life with the utmost care not to be a burden on anyone else, ever.

    To quote John Galt

I swear by my life and my love of it
that I will never live for the sake of
another man, nor ask another man
          to live for mine.

Also, remember that the Federal Reserve runs this country, not politicians who are merely Federal Reserve employees.  If you doubt this, you are doomed.  Due diligence, baby.

The results of Socialism-Marxism=London riots-Philly flashmobs-Wis. State Fair attacks……..More to come once it is over 50% percent on the dole, working for government or being financed by government.

  • cynical sam

Uhhhhh, we passed 50% long ago. A better target would be 80%.

Still waiting to hear your detailed explanation, as to why we need to give our money to able bodied parasitic low life degenerates such as yourself Ramon.

  • Steved608

I can agree with Abdul except for a couple of points.
One the defense expense does not include the costs of the two wars, nor has that cost been included in prior budgets.

Two. As of January 1, 2010 I have paid $116,000 into social security and my employers have paid in the same amount. If I work to 66 another $108,000 will be in there based on my current salary. This does not include what my wife has contributed.  So please don’t tell me that it is an entitlement. The fund was set up to be a trust fund, the fact that politicians, Democrats and republicans have raide it and left IOU’s in place does not make it and entitlement. The money owed is a debt, just as any debt owed to a foreign country.

I have a pension, but I sure want some of what I have paid in without some mealy mouthed politician saying that I am getting an entitlement.

I appreciate Abdul offering to forget the money he has paid in, though I am sure that since I have paid in close to the max since I was in my 20′s and he just turned 40 that I have a good bit more invested in the program that he has. The offer is appreciated though.

Having said that I am sure sorry to read that you will be leaving the program. I have enjoyed meeting, talking on the show and blogging on your site. You have made the station much more interesting and I am sure more profitable. I wish you the best, sure will miss your humor and
views on everything. I guess it will be back to Bob and Tom till noon and Michael last name unpronounceable.

All the best to you and your wife Abdul, where ever life takes you.

I have totally enjoyed every minute of your show.
