I’m just trying to figure the impact on the taxpayer..

A taxpayer-funded group, (IPS), is going to sue in court, (also taxpayer-funded), the State of Indiana, (funded by taxpayers), over it’s alleged non-performance of it’s taxpayer-funded job, in relation to the education of (hopefully), future taxpayers…. many of whom are supported by taxpayers already.

Darn! So that’s where my taxes go!

I do recall Esperanza Zendaha (sp?) being ousted for speaking loudly about the non-accomplishment of IPS.

She ticked-off the school board, the teachers & the parents. Turns out, she was right.

Was the object to improve the high schools? If so, and they have improved sufficiently, then why bother? White has the better argument here. Middle schools are generally cesspolls of learning wherein remediation for all of the previous failures are recognized and dealt with. If Bennett just wants to make a point about the legislature’s two decades plus of flat hands, why doesn’t he just say so?

A very interesting concept. Unfortunately, it would bastardize the system….haphazard parents are at least half the problem within IPS.

And “haphazard” is a kind definition of too many IPS parents.

Just for pun, why wouldn’t parents & students wronged by IPS, bring suit(s) of their own? How “hard” really, would that be?

All this is after, what, 5-6 years of allowing test scores to slide? I don’t think Zendehas (sp?) or others were give this big a carte blanche.

I’m not a fan of Dr. Bennett–at all. But honest to God, this process was open, honest and time-consuming. Frankly, a little TOO time-consuming…but every step was mandated by law.

Legislators need to consider this: when the process plays itself out in the timeframe IPS used, the subject schools have an entire academic year to “gear-up”–or go the other direction–before the takeover.

That’s too damned long.

It’s toying with kids’ futures for nine academic months. It’s unconscionable. Nothing good can come from this delay.

IPS Board: we’re watching your vote on this lawsuit. ANY board member who votes to pursue legal action should be thrown out of office as soon as possible. I’m thinking next election for some of them.
