Time Off

I’m heading out of town today.  Another fun week of playing lawyer, fulfilling other legal obligations and trying to decompress.  Since I will have my hands full Indiana Barrister is taking a break as well.  We will both be back August 8.   Enjoy my time away.

Is the current Superintendent of IPS doing a good job?  With so many High Schools in IPS doing so poorly, many (myself included) do not believe so.

What good is another ‘created’ layer of management going to do?

Nothing, ‘cept cost more money & impede ‘repairs’ of what is already broken.

  • Think Again

Your service is admired and appreciated.  Truly.  I tried and they wouldn’t take me.  Asthma.  My dad wore the uniform 44 years.  Served in Vietnam.

The goobers have the IQ points. No question about that.  But their dogmas interfere.  Way too often.  All 535 are constantly posturing for the next election.

Which is why I’ve reluctantly come around to supporting term limits, and federal campaign financing.  If they’re only there for a defined period, and their campaign treasury is dictated, and it’s not consumed by powerful lobbyists, then maybe–just maybe–we get better decisions.

But we have to realize that those restrictions, in an odd way, give way some freedoms.  It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but I’m ready.

Our Founders would be aghast but sometimes, you’ve got to alter their intent to get to a purer result.

  • Think Again

OK, Scooter I really, really tried, so pay close attention, because it’s noted in my above post:  NO, he is not doing a good job.  Hasn’t been for over two years.

I think Ms. Kennedy wants a school adviser in her cabinet, and highly-visible, to help all local schools–the townships, parochial, charter, home schoolers–to work together in a concantrated manner.  Not with authority to change things, but with the bully pulpit and a 25th-floor focus.

That doesn’t even remotely exist in the Ballard administration.

  • Think Again

    You’re hilarious.

What are you going to do Nov. 9?

She didn’t have to resign.  She decided to do something else.  And that chair is only big because the current occupant has traveled the world eating at buffets on our dime.  We could overlook the expanded girth if he produced good results.

The current 25th floor is a sad outcome.  Many of us hoped Ballard wuld do better because he owed no one–he had a tremendous opportunity as the first person ever to hold that distinction.  Wasted opportunity.  Within ten days of his administration, the powerful lawyers recognized a golden oppoprtunity via limp leadership, took over, and their clients have won every day since.

Do you need the littany again?  North on South, meter deal, water deal, checkbook zoning….

And that’s the name of that tune.  The whole city knows the chorus.  Except you.  And a few others.

    Pitiful.

Yada…yada…yada….same old song & dance ”I hoped better of Ballard”, BS.

    Ballard
did more in six months than Peterson did in EIGHT YEARS! And Ballard hasn’t
    stopped.

    I know
being a DICK comes naturally to you TA but give it a rest, will ya.

    Ballard’s
here and he will be for another four years.

The more I reflect on my various assignments & TDY’s, the more fortunate I feel to have done what I did.  The trust and responsibilities, the people… oh man.  The people in the AVF were fantastic.

All the IQ points in the world makes no one effective. Integrity, (the ability to do the right thing, even when no one is watching), is what is so needed in DC, now & in the future.

Term limits are in our own hands, and lobbying of an elected or appointed law maker or regulator should be illegal. Period.

Didn’t Ben Franklin say something about those that give up essential liberty for a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I’m worried that this great experiment is threaten by the overly comfortable lives we have come to enjoy day in & day out, and now the propping up of those that are along for a free ride.    We as a Nation have forgotten how to face a hard challenge & make sacrifices to attain a dream.

We have turned into a Nation of wusses.

If this person would have no authority to affect change in a coordinated manner between the schools, state, parents & children….. then it’s just another do nothing position that government (and government schools) are already flooded with.
