24 Hours

With 24 hours left to go before the Indiana primary begins, I’m making this space available for you to promote the candidate of your choice.

It doesn’t matter if it’s federal, state, county, township, school board; Republican, Democrat or Libertarian.  The only thing I ask is that you explain why you’re voting for someone and don’t use this as an opportunity to bash another candidate.

So with that said, ladies and gentlemen, mesdames et messieurs, meine damen und herren, the floor is yours…

McGoff in the 5th: Not a lobbyist, career politican, lawyer, or incumbent (in that order). He is a doctor and veteran.

Hostettler for Senate: Not a lobbyist, career politician, lawyer, or incumbent. He is a conservative against the notion of democratizing the Middle East with some name recognition and experience.

After that- voting for about every Libertarian I can find.

  • tonymendez

Please vote for Tony Mendez for Warren Township School Board.

I'm a life-long resident of the township (1987 Graduate) with two (2) children currently in the school system (6th Grader at Creston Middle School & 10 Grader at WCHS). I've been very active in Little League, Boy Scouts, and many other school activities. I would like to continue serving the youth of our great township.

Luke Messer in the 5th District. All of the candidates running in this district are good people with Conservative ideals. In my opinion Luke has positioned himself as the best person to defeat Burton. He has arguably built the largest grass roots campaign of any candidate in the 5th. He is 100% pro-life, is a champion of the 2nd Amendment and opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants. Luke is an education reformer and understands that education decisions are best made by families at a local level. When Dan Burton had an opportunity to vote for the House Ethics bill, he was the lone NO vote, 430-1. in the Indiana General Assembly, Luke helped pass ethics reforms to protect state government whistle blowers and create the Indiana Office of the Inspector General. I'm proud to call Luke a friend and am asking those of you that live in the 5th District to do as I have already done and vote Luke Messer for Congress on Tuesday.

IPS school board needs members who will speak up to Eugene White and demand some accountability from him. There are many of the candidates who will do that. Among them are Breyer and Forkner…..two of the candidates running are close friends of White and will further entrench the top heavy administration and wild spending habits of IPS. They are Ramon Batts and Leroy Robinson. They do not need to be on the IPS school board.

  • indyhardr

I'm for Jason Fishburns father. If Tom John says that I should vote for him, thats good enough for me.

The $85,000 that Tom John spent on those mailers was money well spent.Im glad that I donated money to the MCRCC. All of those McAtee people should go to jail for having the nerve to earn a living.

Thank you Tom John for your leadership!

  • Wendy

Its “Beyer”. And, yes, I agree. Of course, Roof as opposed to Forkner if you want to get rid of the 'insiders'.

  • thomasfoolery

Scott Baldwin for Hamilton County Sheriff – His 25 years in public service and experiences as a small business owner make him the perfect candidate for Sheriff. Look for Scott to reconnect officers with their roots as public servants and to use his business background to do “more with less.”

I'm voting for Rokita in the 4th b/c I like his anti-gerrymandering plan he introduced as Sec. of State. I'm also voting for Stutzman for Senate. I know that both of these guys have been involved in state gov't., but I just can't bring myself to send a guy to Washington who has already been there or a guy who has been endorsed by the incumbent from the district. The establishment hasn't been true to the values of the people for years!

There aren't any other real contested races out here in Montgomery County, but I'm looking at the Libertarians very closely for the fall in the statewide and national races. I hope that they can capitalize on the level of discontent among the voting public.

  • rd2

But … But … The only reason I'm going to the polling place is to vote against one particular candidate.

  • aellis

I am voting for Luke Messer in the race for 5th District Congress.
There may be lots of challenger candidates, but Luke is the most
qualified and the one that has a chance to win now. Our Country
desperately needs new conservative leadership. Luke is the only
candidate poised to get that done. Please don’t pass up this
opportunity to not just vote for someone new, but to actually elect
    someone new to Congress.

  • JJohnson

I'm supporting Luke Messer in the 5th. A vote for Murphy, McGoff or McVey is simply just a vote for 2 more years of that embarrassment Dan Burton. McGoff came close last time…but alas, no cigar. Messer has shown over the last year that he is the only candidate that has the complete campaign to beat Dan Burton.

  • aellis

Could not agree more! Messer has a great grassroots campaign and has a lot of support throughout the district. I've read comments about voting for non-career politicians and lawyers, but I see Luke Messer as neither of these. He is a citizen that is looking to change Washington. We can see that he has helped Indiana during his time at the State House, now it is his time to do it on Capitol Hill.

  • lawrenceofarabia

I'm voting for Bart McAtee for Sheriff. Given his long career in law enforcement he is the only candidate with the experience to be our next sheriff and he comes without any links to the corruption currently running our Party. We need a change from politics as usual and I feel he is the right man to restore the integrity we need.

  • seanshepard

Solely from a Republican Primary perspective as I reserve the right to vote for any libertarian candidates in the November General Election that prove to be better options (as they often do):

Hostettler for Senate although I'd like to see Bates make another go at something in the future. Hostettler's record in the House was decent (for a Republican) in the pro-liberty area as he voted against the Iraq war authorization, against federal intervention in regulating a religious practice (marriage) and is consistent in supporting lower taxes if not outright, fundamental reform. Still not perfect, but … out of the bunch.

Burton for the 5th. I haven't seen anything out of the other candidates to make me see that they would vote any better than he does. Sure, Dan's been there a long time and has a tarnished reputation but none of the other Republican contenders strike me as being any more libertarian leaning than he is. McVey scared the crap out of me by suggesting he might support BOTH a Federal Income AND Sales Tax (instead of wholesale replacement of one method of taxation with another – empowering the government to do both shows too much trust in government)

If I still could, Carlos May in the 7th. He's energetic, sincere, believes the Federal Government is too large and I know has taken a serious interest in learning about issues, policies and various foundational principles rather than just offering up lip service.

  • Name

I will vote for Carlos May in the 7th. He is the only person in this primary who can beat Carson in the General and his work ethic has shown that he leads by example and does not rely on residual name ID or others to do all the work

  • noblesvilleguy

The only sensible choice for Congressman to represent Hamilton County and areas north and south of here is someone who was actually BORN and WORKS here — Brose McVey. I can't stand the politicians who are running in this race, from the guy who's been in DC for 28 years to the party operatives who think this race is theirs for the taking. We need someone who isn't afraid to call a spade a spade — and that's Brose!

  • andyrdinares

Hostetler in the Senate. I think that he's the only truly independent conservative in the race. A lot of Republicans were partly responsible for the state of the Nation. Hostetler was a lone voice of dissent in the Republican party and with the benefit of time, he has proven himself to be correct.

For Fifth District Rep, it's John McGoff. It's laughable that people think that Luke Messer is the most qualified candidate. Three years in the State House, a stint as GOP executive director and years as a lobbyist make him the most qualified? McGoff is a Colonel in the Air Force and has been to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He's also a Doctor and was Mitch's Health Care policy advisor during the campaign and transition. He's far more qualified than any candidate in this race.

  • LMR

Mike Murphy in the 5th- I want someone with a solid plan as well as experience of leading. He is the only candidate with both.

Marlin Stutzman for Senate- I want a conservative and not just a contrarian. It's not enough in my opinion to have a record of voting no on bills one sees as unconstitutional.

  • indyhardr

I was wrong, the numbers for Tom Johns attack are now at $154,000.

Thats $154,000 of your money. It will be interesting to see how long this stays up.

  • IndyAries

I want to vote against anyone who voted FOR some new liquor law that requires 52 year old people to show ID to buy beer.

21st Amendment stores are now doing this…even though the alleged law isn't effective until 01 July.

Clerk at the store said they were told they had to card EVERYONE, regardless of their apparent age.

  • Karen

How effin' lazy are you? Wow. For the privilege of buying booze you moan about pulling out a card. Wow.

  • http://www.melyssasgarden.blogspot.com melyssa

JO COLEMAN – IPS SCHOOL BOARD

ALLISON MAQUIRE – PIKE SCHOOL BOARD

PAUL OGDEN – PIKE SCHOOL BOARD

CARLOS MAY – CONGRESS 7th DISTRICT

  • IndyAries

“For the privilege of buying booze…”

Are you a fracking idiot? When did it become a privilege to buy anything?

Further, 1) the alleged law doesn't take effect until 01 July; 2) Why would it be necessary, after all of these DECADES, to begin carding people over 50 to buy beer?

I served my country for over 20 years in uniform. How many years do you have in?

Clearly, you and Liberty don't even have a nodding acquaintance.

  • http://www.melyssasgarden.blogspot.com melyssa

    That's hilarious, indyhardr.

    McAtee it is.

  • John Howard

I'm supporting Carlos May. I have yet to see him speak, either a speech or to answer a question, where he wasn't clearly saying what HE believes and stands for – vs reciting a rehearsed talking point. Can't say that for his opposition.

    IA, great post.

I love that some of the DON'T TREAD ON ME crowd when it comes to federal laws have no problem limiting and regulating private industry when it comes to alcohol.

  • Mayor McCheese

I'm voting for Carl Brizzi. Anyone who can F up so incredibly overtly moronically badly and not get indicted/arrested/lynched/etc MUST know the law better than anyone else.

    :)

    write him in people

  • Mikey

I'd like to draw your attention to Scott Baldwin for Hamilton County Sheriff. He's very qualified and I like his ideas about getting back to customer service oriented policing. He also has business experience which will be crucial for our County.

  • wayneguy99

Brian Clouse for Wayne Township School Board!!! A fresh and new perspective is so desperately needed; he will be accountable and transparent to Wayne teachers, parents, students and Wayne Township taxpayers. A former Robey Elementary PTO treasurer…HOSTS mentor…Brian will be a great new face on the old board.

  • guest

I'm voting for Dennis Fishburn. McAtee brings too much family bagage to the race. Even though I do not agree with the Republican Leadership at the moment, I feel that Dennis has more expierence of working in the Jail (which is the Sheriff's primary focus in Marion County). McAtee did everything he could to avoid working in the jail. Dennis also is a outsider of sorts, unknown until this race.

Adult individuals engaging in commerce with each other, so long as no one else's rights are violated and nobody is defrauded, is a RIGHT not a privilege.
