Well, it is a long time past 5 days waiting for a TA retraction but when you are 100% wrong it's difficult to spin an answer? And, when you are a girlie man in costume of intellectual it's tough to confess error? When confronted with the truth and you not in possession of it the honorable thing to do is to just admit error and that you were talking thru your hat. It's not hard to do after you get used to the pursuit of truth as an avocation and you can regain the respect of honest people when you confess to an honest error or even in your case, a dishonest one.

"She got out because every damned one of those ethical complaints had teeth." Having "finished" the book, TA, would you care to man up and confess total error on this quote of yours? Or, are you going to do another memory lapse like you did on Senator Kennedy's No Child Left Behind Act. "In mid December, 2008, Sarah Palin's Wasilla Bible Church was firebombed, causing $1,000,000.00 in damages".

Finished.

The book actually got better, style-wise, as it went. My overall grade would be C-. Slightly below average for such tomes. And I've read most of them--from President Obama's book, to the recently-released Reagan diaries/letters (which were touching and humble).

Yeah, Rico, I am very proud of my daughters, and vice-versa. We've raised strong, independent young women. Two of them view abortion differently than me, one agrees.

Two could vote last year, and both voted for President Obama. The last daughter can vote next year, and she promises me she can't wait to vote against won't Sen. Bayh. My only admonition to her was, to try to find someone to vote "for." She's working on that.

So, you, see, diversity of opinion can occur...if you allow free-spirited debate and encourage open discussion.

Minds, like doors, don't work when they're closed.

Abdul: This is just not right. We seem to both have the same reaction to Sarah. Expected from me, but you? The Republic party has no room for reason or reality, or did you not get that memo either?
Moderates, such as yourself, are not needed nor wanted in the G.O.P. Please, let's keep the Republic party ideologicaly pure. It is proper protocol to drink the Kool-Aid provided by the party. I see that you haven't. (I think it's grape, try it)
I whole-heartedly support Sarah in her bid to be the face of the Republic party and am looking forward to her 2012 run for the oval office. Hopefully, she will do so on a third-party ticket.
Once again, please do not try to interject rationality into the issue, nor cloud the discussion with facts, it will only make you look sane, and as such, undermine the G.O.P.'s stratergery.

Your daughters must be really proud of your treatment of this woman. I still contend that if she was pro-choice, your view (and the view of all lefties) of her would be quite different. How dare she value the life of an unborn child?

And at least she doesn't claim to write a book that she clearly didn't, as our Narcissist in Chief did--twice!

There's nothing so sacrosanct about public sector gigs (US Senate, Governor, etc.), that people can't leave them in the hands of succession, for other jobs. "Quitters" leave jobs to become: POTUS, CEO's of a private sector companies, Mom, Dad, etc.

Except for a horse or two, few complain when the stall cleaner leaves the stables for another "opportunity."

Structurally embedded, systemic & rampant corruption, have fouled the "high calling of public service." Destruction of liberty is nothing less than the destruction of life, of flesh. The smell of manure is far preferable to the gangrene rot of our republic.

The nation's crapitol is full of... "professional" legislators, and look at the results- not. "Professionals," would guarantee or expand, & not threaten our liberties, right? It's the vomitribe of "professionals" that's given us lawerly, predatorial & dehumanizing tyranny; rather than neighborly government that people recognize as fair.

Originally a four page document, the Constitution was written for EVERY CITIZEN and not one particular profession, has promoted liberty within our republic & throughout the world, for over two hundred years. Criticism of the founders should contextually account for the times unto which they were born, their enlightenment & awareness, that "all men were created equal" would convey genuine debate & purpose, beyond the cultural vagaries of their time. What will we do, in these imperfect times unto which we've been born?

Now, a two-thousand page plus document, which a majority of its proponents have NOT READ, people who abuse the term "representative," proposes a takeover the world's finest health care system & therefore destruction of our liberty & republic; without our consent. If public sector "professionals" are manufactured at places like Harvard & Yale; where do "they" manufacture enlightenment, or is that just too passe (read: unhip)?

Once again, you provide a whole post but not an actual reason to read the book. Seriously, what person who isn't interested in Palin's personal life journey have to read this book? What reason would someone outside of the choir have to read this?

Palin did major in journalism, but writing as a journalist is different than the writing someone would do for a book. That doesn't mean those trained in journalism can't be good writers in other formats, but in my experience, it's hard to break the habit.

I don't know who you're referring to while talking about her resignation. Neither TA, Sean, or myself have said she quit as governor. The only person who did was Guest and Abdul.

I'm guessing you don't live in Indiana, since Indiana does not have party registration.

Pascal, your Vance citation surprised me. Attaboy. Add Elliott Richardson to that list. And our own Bill Ruckelshaus...well, kinda.

Slow reader? More like a reading chore. This book is like bamboo under my fingernails. Three more chapters done, in between working on quarterly income taxes...if this woman, or her co-writer, majored in anything remotely resembling writing, they need to get their money back. Wretched writing style. She writes like she talks--pathetic short sound bites that don't seem coherent when viewed together.

But pray tell, what principle was involved in her resignation? Is that hidden in a later chapter of this sophomoric prose? The principle of circling buzzards? I thought conservatives did the tough work, stuck it out...
