The Supt in Wayne Township makes MORE money and has fewer people under him.Do we even know his name? Sounds like someone has a bone to pick with IPS and pals with the charter school/voucher lobbysists.

The Board just extended his contract through 2013.....they must think he is going to be around and in good health.......oh, I forgot. This is the IPS School Board and they dont think and dont express their opinions and dont dare disagree with Dr. White.

Funny, Melyssa, but I just don't think there ever was a $20K clothing allowance. Good blog fodder, but likely not true.

He's got enough going against him, that he doesn't need the clothing thing to poke at.

Wanna have fun with an IPS board member? Get one of them aside for five questions. Ask four relatively harmless questions which require short answers, and read their reaction. Then ask him/her about Eugene's health, and watch the board member turn eight shades of red.

It's a real sleeper issue. That and his age--the man will likely retire in a couple years. And he has no succession or transition plan in place, as far as we know. The board is guilty of malfeasance if that's remotely true.

The people around him are all sock puppets with no spines. He needs to be training a successor. This is not a small issue.

Think Again, should we get Dr. White his own image consultant too? I know where we can get one for about $48k per year plus benefits. I think we can afford it. How can we not afford to maximize our $20k clothing investment?

An inquiring mind might seek out the IPS Foundation. School corporations' foundations are moshpits for superintendents' off-budget pet projects. That would be a good place to "hide" a $20L clothing allowance.

And if this guy is getting any clothing allowance at all, taxpayers should demand a style consultant. White has the sartorial presence of a bull in a china shop half the time.

Hint, Eugene: just because the color matches, it doesn't necessarily look good on an overweight tall 63-year-old man.

Think again......the lack of a clothing allowance in the contract got my attention as I did see the agenda item which approved a $5000 INCREASE in his clothing allowance. I would like to know how much it actually is and was hoping that the contract would reveal that but as you correctly noted, it is not mentioned there. Rumor has it that is is $20,000. Sometimes rumors are true and sometimes not....but is interesting that it is not in the contract....if he had a health problem and someone had to fill in..we would really be in bad shape with the likes of Prudence Bridgewaters or Jane Kendrick.

Puzzled, I read this contract twice. Please point out any clothing allowance.

And altho the resolution regarding performance evaluation isn't attached, I'm betting the board had little input into it. That is Gene' M.O.

The critical portion of this contract is Sec. 6.2 (Medical Evaluation). An annual physical by a board-chosen doctor is not a part of most Superintendent contracts. It certainly invites the question: is this man healthy?

And that invites another question: does he have a sufficient succession or replacement plan? Look around him--a bunch of flunkies and yes-men(women). Anyone who dares dissent is dispatched to Siberia or fired. That is vintage Eugene White.

The contract is a typical Superintendent contract in its tenor and tone. Written entirely to favor the employee.

This school board needs to grow a set and protect taxpayers, students and employees, in all contractual matters. But don't hold your breath.
