So Much For “Operation Chaos!”

  • Think Again

Nice picture. Only problem is: McConnell is too close. He needs to be moved faaaaaar away. Like back to Kentucky.

  • Taxpayer 834512

Agreed. However, my cropping would be if our Speaker were a comfortable couple of thousand miles away, say back home on a beach.

  • Jerry

Feinstein and Pelosi and the world is ending, oh noes.

  • Think Again

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that, Taxpayer.

I could get ugly and point back to the reign of Speaker Gingrich. Who was mean as cat snot–left the cancer deathbed of his wife for divorce court and the arms of another woman. Yeah, THAT’S someone we want 3rd in line. Or Speaker Hastert, a genteel fellow who let Congress run amuk.

Or the Chief Justice, who screwed up the oath, ceremonial tho it is.

But the happiest part of today is that that dunce George W. Bush is gone. The world rejoices.

    So does the Constitution.

  • Rico

You’re already ugly, Think Again, and pretty damn stupid. It appeared to me that your boy screwed up as well. Maybe someone ahould have put the oath on a teleprompter.
I, like you, don’t know the details of Newt Gingrich’s personal life(gee, I thought that was off limits), but the man is a visionary. To defend Pelosi(or Reid, for that matter) is anothet one of your shortcuts to thinking.

  • IndyErnie

    Give’m hell Rick.
18 yr old farm boys and girls take that oath every day and get it right and a Harvard Senator stumbles through it??? jezz.

  • Taxpayer 834512

Bush kept us from getting nailed after the towers. That’s about all the positive I can say about him. Unfortunately, Pelosi doesn’t seem to lack Gingrich’s cat snot demeanor and seems as dogmatic as Bush (that’s pretty dogmatic, Folks).
    .
Here’s hoping President Obama is step-up from all of this. Sincerely.

  • Daw-g

I really believe “operation chaos” kept hillary in the game far longer than she should have been. Face it. Obama kicked her butt…with both feet!

  • Rico

By the way, Think Again, why haven’t I heard you comment on the oratory skills of the new Democrat Senator Caroline “Ya Know” Kennedy? I thought, above all else, one’s ability to articulate his or her viewpoint was paramount.

  • Rico

Actually, I’ve only read your commentary. Thank God. The thought of hearing the voice that goes with your mindless rants gives me a cold chill.

  • Tom

I go away for a while and come back and find Rico has not gotten the memo about rising above petty ad hominem attacks, “recriminations and worn out dogmas”. I am also a little disapointed that no one has brought up the Rev. Lowery’s insult of whites in his benediction today. Even I was outraged. Come to think of it, the Reverend seems to have missed the same memo as Rico.

  • Think Again

I’m with you on Caroline’s speech pattern, Rico. Fingernails on a blackboard.

As for the oath: watch it again. Barack tried to correct the erstwhile Chief Justice.

“Oath” means, the oath-taker repeats the Oath-giver’s words.

Careful with the “stupid” moniker…it fits multiple folks. Do you ever read any of the SCOTUS opinions? As long as Clarence Thomas is there, someone is less intellegent than the Chief. Sadly.

  • Rico

No, Tommy, I just don’t believe the memo that Obama is our savior. Those like you who feel it is the dawn of a new day are in for a surprise. Our President played the race card from the bottom of the deck during the campaign, so it seems a bit naive to believe we will all be singing “We Are The World” now that our first black (though white-gated-community-livin’)president has been elected.

We reap what we sow. Americans will pay the price for such profound wrecklessness.

  • Rico

I also give God thanks that the most liberal justices on the U.S. Supreme Court will most likely be the first to leave. President Barry couldn’t do any worse than Stevens and Ginsburg.

  • Jon G

Gotta agree with your post # 13 Rico. I’ve said two words from the beginning of the primaries, ‘Chicago politician.’ It will raise its ugly head again, and this time maybe the media won’t give him a pass.
    -
If we were truly trying to be a non-racist nation (and I truly wish we were) then we would’nt have heard words like ‘black’ or ‘African-Amaerican’ at all today. Maybe the media ought to start by leaving out those words and just call him a ‘man’ or an ‘American’ or just another guy who is the king, er, I mean President.

  • Jon G

I dunno Think Again. I don’t know what oath yoi watched but it sure looked like BO screwed up the thing pretty bad on his own. I even watched it on a couple different sources to make sure it wasn’t edited. I guesss he gets a free pass on that one also! Why not, huh?

  • Jerry

After watching the media for the past few weeks, and all of the African American citizens proclaim their love for Obama . . . and 100% optimisim for “change” . . . I’ll be the one to say it:
    -
The inauguration and Presidency wouldn’t have been near as eventful if a black Republican would have won. Not even close. The majority of blacks are Democrat. The majority of the media is Democrat. The majority of Hollywood and the Internet is Democrat. nuff said. get real as others have said. wake up.

  • Rico

Black Republicans, and in particular black conservatives, are villified by the dems with the help of the media. Colin Powell was an ‘uncle Tom’ until he came out in support of President Barry.

Abdul had the audacity to say on his show today, “..this would be just as big as deal if John McCain were being inaugurated”. What a f***ing joke!

What little credibility you had left, Abdul(as a so-called conservative supporting the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate) has just been lost by making such an outrageous comment.
I congratulate you on your pending nuptials, Abdul. I can only assume your future bride ia a Barack fan and has your nuts in her Coach bag. If not, I suggest we send out an APB and find’em fast.

  • http://none Mauri

I’ve said this before.!!! Let us come together as one and move forward into thid century.

  • patriot paul

If we have learned anything about Obama, its that he is more practical than philosophical. I’m not going to wait 100 days to offer thoughts on his policies, but let’s stay focused on the issues and how they affect us; not his flubbed-up oath, assisted by the Chief Justice.

  • John Drake

You’re right, Abdul. So much for Mush-head Limbaugh too. He used to think for himself and represent a principled conservatism, but somehow over the years he reduced himself to a Republican shill, lacking integrity.

  • Shorebreak

Don’t worry folks. Before long, the foreign press will be spelling our new President’s name as “O’bomb-a”. His most senior foreign policy advisor wrote the agenda to gain geostrategic control of Eurasia and Bush has implemented 50% of the plan. You can read the guys damn book and see a 1:1 comparison of his recommendations and Bush’s accomplishments. Hell, the book even has maps and drawings of recommended progress. Only a fool would declare otherwise.
    .
And people think that Obama won’t continue where Bush left off? There’s an expression for that, people. It’s called “pipe dream”. You’re living in it.
    .
How will Obama justify increasing US military action in Pakistan and Afghanistan, among other expanding theaters? Easy. The same way Bush justified it. By using a perceived external threat. That’s what Brzezinski wrote that they need in order to gain our support for pre-emptive military action.
    .
As for change, Obama declared a complete renewal of the US economy. Even that will be an extension of policy initiated by the Bush Administration. For the “sake of our economic security” Obama will use the “global economic crisis” as a rationale to tie our economic policies to a set of global standards that will be regulated by an international body. To make sure that the systemic failures that are hurting us will never happen again. That foundation was laid by Bush’s G-20 meeting last quarter that resulted in a decision to move to global accounting standards.
    .
Here’s my message to all of you people who base your opinion and observations on the reporting of mainstream media: garbage in, garbage out. When you make your decisions and you establish your beliefs based upon lies, expect to be granted a lie in return.

  • Bemused

After all the hype..after all the gushing hyperbole of various print video and blogging journalism that spawned this Obama, I’m glad he is President..because as of 12 noon yesterday, all of his campaign rhetoric is history, toast, dust in the wind. I think he will find himself in over his head on multiple occasions (notice I said ‘think’, not hope-I wish him success only because of our country).

If thats so, I blame any sheeple who fell under the incandescent glow of ‘hope’ and ‘change’ propaganda for any resulting Obama foreign and/or domestic debacle.

To use a military analogy: would you entrust the leadership of a 15,000 member Division to a buck Private, whose leadership experience is nil?

Independant Thought, Obama-nuts. Live it and use it in your daily lives. Finally, if one reaaaly wants tog et technical, Obama is not our first black President. He IS our 43rd and a half white President. First bi-racial, yes.

(cue the indignant, tremulous cries of racism on my part)

  • Think Again

Jon G: I taped and watched the ceremony on CSPAN. I prefer its almost-commentator-free raw footage.

And this is how it went, lest the breathless far right try to recast it as something else (cue Fox hysteria):

Chief Justice begins first sentence of oath, pauses, Obama repeats.

Chief beigns second part of oath, incorrectly, Obama starts to repeat, realizes words are in wrong order, but, after one second of thought, repeats just as the Chief indicated.

All it would’ve taken was a 3 X 5 card. That’s it. But the Chief thought better of it, and he flubbed it. There really is no other explanation. Am I happy about it? No. Am I surprised? No. Does it change anyting?

    Absolutely not.

I’m still kinda chuckling over the black Republican thing…oxymoronic though it is.

    Hilarious Larry. Keep it up.

Oh yeah–are you the same Larry who calls into the show sometimes? Just curious.

  • Shorebreak

    TA – I don’t see comments from a Larry.
    .
Regarding the oath, I’m the last person on this planet who would let that kind of statement slide at a swearing-in ceremony if I thought there was any merit to a complaint. In this case, you’re 100% correct. The only issue is the stupidity of Roberts. We have a new President who can’t put a cognitive sentence together without a teleprompter, and our Chief Justice is so arrogant that he can’t write a few words down on a cheat sheet? Gimme a break. It’s the blind leading the naked. It’s no wonder corporate finance chooses these people to lead us – they couldn’t tie their shoes without having their hands held.

  • Think Again

Sorry, Shore. You’re right. Jerry, not Larry. Was thinking about my brother Larry, and my other brother Larry….and I still wanna know if it’s the guy who calls Abdul’s wonderful show regularly. I usually giggle at Abdul’s attempts to needle Jerry. Great entertainment whilst brushing my teeth.

I re-viewed my recording of the oath just now. The pained look on Obama’s face is, I honestly think, an attempt to not make the Chief look, well, stupid. Which failed.

I read on a law/academic blog that the oath is ceremonial anyway, and that the president assumes the duties at noon on Jan. 20 whether there’s an oath or not. I know not whether that’s correct…just repeating what I’ve read. And because they were a few minutes behind, if that is correct, Obama was already president anyway. I’m told that disaster planning scenarios are actually practiced, to allow the commanding generals to know where they should seek leadership at one second past noon.

And CNN just reported that Obama re-took the oath this evening to seal the deal. Strange happenings.

Nonetheless, the tape is clear: it’s Roberts’s error, and Obama tried to give him an eyebrow lift and pained smile to get him to redo it, which the Chief barely did.

But that’s just me. I’m still pissed that McConnell is anywhere close to the seat of power, because he’s a flaming jackass.

  • Jon G

TA, I see your point. I spoke without thinking it through and didn’t do the research about the oath and how it is supposed to go, but it does seem like they both screwed-up. Who cares anyway, we all know BO can’t talk without a prompter. And Bemused, I agree with your post @ 23 100%. One thing I’ve noticed but I guess the media hasn’t is that BO is going to shut down the war but he is going to escalate things in Pakistan and Afganistan. Aren’t those things kind of the same things? Oh well, what do expect, another waffle.
