Palin’ Around With Palin

Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin is in town this afternoon.  She’ll be speaking at the Verizon Music Center.  As much as I love covering political events the thought of being anywhere near I-69 at four in the afternoon is enough to make my head explode.

Governor Mitch Daniels will be attending a ribbon cutting ceremony in northern Indiana.

I think Mitch has the right idea.

  • Think Again

Mitch is not my choice for governor, but I’ll hand him this: he has strong political instincts. If I were Mitch, I wouldn’t want photos of Sarah and me spread across the media this weekend, either.

She’s a loose cannon, destined to return to Alaska in 18 days as a governor under probe.

    A ribbon-cutting in northern Indiana? Come on…

She won’t be teaching government at Princeton next week. But, our suppossedly finely wrought cannons of the superior “political class” have got us into an excellent mess, at least in part from a detachment from reality. Either way, we’ll see how inexperience serves us in January, won’t we?

It’s funny watching people here in the office in West Chester, OH as they prepare to listen to Palin this morning outsied our office doorstep. The comments from co-workers who plan to attend give me an idea of what the growing crowd outside is thinking:
    .
    “Hey, better her than Biden.”
“Yeah, but does the VP really have any involvement in foreign policy?”
“I hear she’s done a lot of good things for Alaska – maybe she can help the country.”
    “What’s the alternative?”
    “Obama’s a baby killer.”
    .
I haven’t heard any commenets or banter in support of Obama.
    .
But I’ve heard several of these”
“I’m not wasting my time. Do you really think our votes matter?”
“My candidate doesn’t get any media coverage because he supports the Constitution.”
“Either way, it’s the corporations who win.”
    .
That last comment was a pleasant surprise to me. This is a relatively small company with a relatively small office, so they don’t have Politically Correct office policies that I’m used to that demand refraining from political conversations. It’s nice to hear that people are waking up to reality. I credit the internet for breaking through the media stranglehold on accurate and truthful reporting.

That last comment you overheard, Shore, is sad. I believe it because I hear it a lot, too.

The other comments are just, well, stupid. A month ago, I’d have said “under-informed,” but hey, we’re 18 days out…time to cut to the chase.

Taxpayer: I don’t know who you think has been running our country for the last 7.5 years, but yes, he has gotten us into a fine pickle. Few folks will describe W as anything other than an Ivy League middle-of-the-class lazy legacy.

We’ve done worse, but not in my lifetime.

So, pray tell, if it’s intellegence we’re seeking, why would we vote for someone who finished four from the bototm at the Naval Academy? Where he was also a legacy.

Little known (and scary) fact: this is the first election in a long time without a Kennedy or Bush/Nixon on the ballot. Yikes. Dynasties be damned.

I hope that everyone recalls the Palin choice in future elections. It points out the harm that the popular – mostly Republican – disparagement for government engenders. If one does not think there is any proper role for government then no care is taken in choices for elective or appointive offices. We have seen this in a number of Bush choices (“great job Brownie”). The current problems largely grow out of choices made by people who do not care about the quality of government because they confuse the need to control and improve government with the need for government at all. Oh what a difference a believer in the nobility of civil service would have made in the last 8 years. Al Gore, we really missed out.

Once again, Think Again’s catty, jealous, shrew-like personality is revealed. I suspect if Sarah Palin was as hideous as Hillary, TA wouldn’t have a problem with her.

For a bunch of folks agreed in theory on our failure being bipartisan and netting a “uniparty” debaucle, I don’t hear much about Carter, Frank, Dodd, or Clinton’s contribution to our housing/financial woes. Granted, George W. Bush is in a class by himself. I think most agree on a “proper role” for gov’t, while differing on the specifics. But, a fine education hasn’t assured success as a public servant(Frank and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac), or in crafting ideology based remotely on economic or real life reality(Obama on wealth “redistribution” and healthcare “rights”). Again, Bush is our poster boy for what can go wrong with a Yale education. Nor, am I hoping all sheetrockers file for City-Council rep tonight.

Here’s the crux of the issue – anyone who believes that Obama or McCain will be running the country are as delude as those who belive that Bush or Clinton ran the country. Those people are just mouthpieces whose job is to implemnt the policies of the private interests who propel them into office. Johannes Koeppl (Ph.D., former German defense ministry official and advisor to former NATO Secretary General Manfred Werner) captured it perfectly when he said
    .
“The interests behind the Bush Administration, such as the CFR, The Trilateral Commission – founded by Brzezinski for David Rockefeller – and the Bilderberger Group, have prepared for and are now moving to implement open world dictatorship within the next five years. They are not fighting against terrorists. They are fighting against citizens.”
    .
If you know anything about current national politics, you know that the Brzezinski camp is 100% behind Obama. If you don’t know that, or if you don’t know what that means, you’ve probably been relying on media to tell you what’s important, and therefore you have no clue about what’s actually happening.
    .
And if you jump to conclusions and believe that the above quote implies that an attempt at open dictatorship would be implemented solely by the US, you’re basing your opinion on an incomplete set of facts. The quote says “The interests behind the Bush admin….” They’re very busy in countries around the world – not only the US. As for how it would happen in the US, it would most likely be under the guise of martial law, with people initially accepting it because the media tells us that it’s for our protection.
    .
    Tinfoil hat?
    .
Only if high level defense officials and NATO adviusors have come off their meds. Which I highly doubt. And only if the historical record and actual writings of people like Brzezinski are a complete fabrication. Which I also doubt, considering that the man brags constantly about his anti-American, pro-globalist efforts – including his initiative as NSA to Carter to implement a radical form of Islam in the ME by planning to allow Russia to invade Afghanistan in order to intentionally militarize the people of the region. That’s from Brzezinski’s own mouth.

    Abdul,
Google the communist manifesto. Some of Obama’s speeches come straight out of there.

  • Think Again

Rico, dear heart, is is time for your meds.

And for what it’s worth, I never supported Hill or Bill. But in terms of brains, Hill has Sarah beat by a country mile.

  • Rico

Of course, everyone knows Hillary is the smartest person alive—a horrible human being, but a smart one.
