Oops!

Here are examples of some those moments in politics when things don’t go quite the way they were planned.

The Obama campaign wants to charge the press for access to its election night party in Chicago.

The RNC apparently spent quite a few bucks on Sarah Palin’s wardrobe and hair.

The Jill Long Thompson campaign misspelled the campaign Treasurer’s name in its latest ad.

A woman  convicted of stealing from her church last year managed to make it as an election judge in a voting center in Marion County.  She was discovered by the judge who sentenced her who notified the Clerk who notified the local GOP who notified the woman her services were no longer needed.

Oh well, I guess it just goes to show that nobody’s perfect.

Ok time to put a little humor in our lives. Watch this short vid and see who would be the best to send to Washington. http://www.aarpvote08.org/index.php?d=V2lsbGlhbSBNeWVycw==

  • Think Again

All good examples of campaign snafus, Abdul. Thanks for the giggle.

JLT’s slip is just one more…not all that surprising.

Neither is Sarah’s. She’s as phony as they come. They should’ve saved the money and gotten her a Constitutional tutor. If she’s a real hockey mom, why didn’t she grab a wardrobe consultant and go buy 25 outfits at Kohl’s? Can you imagine the spin that would’ve gotten? The most-expensive thing a Hockey mom has in her minivan is her kid’s skates. Don’t forget, Cindy McC’s convention wardrobe shopping spree was like $400K.

Michelle Obama looked great on a TV show recently, and said she got the dress off the rack for $100. And the Obamas are “elite” ? LOL

Where were the common sense police on this Saks-Needless Markup gaffe? Is anyone at the McCain campaign paying attention? And for all that money, SP looks, well…kinda Vegas-ish. This woman has lost almost all credibility. (Was it Cindy McCain’s idea?)

It did overshadow the release of the 2007 Palin tax return yesterday: they made about $166K gross, and paid about $22K in taxes. Seriously. I paid more on much less income.

She’d be better off with the Obama tax plan.

This won’t move any voters, but it was just plain stupid.

  • Rico

She may have lost all credibility with you, TA, but I’m not sure that’s saying much. In my opinion, she’s the most credible of all four candidates. By the way, how very sensitive of Barry to ‘rush’ home to his ‘gravely ill(typical white person)grandmother’.

Maybe JLT can take just $25 from one sucker who paid for her ad and get a new haircut so she won’t look like Mo Howard.

  • Tom

Again traveling the high road, Rico. Do you even have a grandmother?

  • Jerry

Think Again, put your denim purse down, take some deep breaths, and calm down. Wow, I knew you would enjoy the article about Sarah, but…wow! That’s some pent up frustration there, maybe with your own wardrobe? ha

If we want to talk vice presidential candidates, let’s talk about the HUGE statement Joe Biden said over the weekend. He guarantees that within 6 months under an Obama administration, there will be an international crisis to test Obama. And urges supporters not to worry when it doesn’t seem like they are sending the right response. Huh? What? And you’re worried thatSarah looks too Vegas-ish?
    -
Obama will be tested says Joe Biden, the same guy that said Obama wasn’t fit to be President! And he would be proud to be VP with McCain because McCain would be good for America! WOW! WOW! WOW!
    -
How this wasn’t the biggest OOPS! of this post, or even mentioned, is beyond me.

I think Palin is the best of the bunch too.

  • Tom

What is the big “oops”? I don’t think it’s outlandish to say that Obama may face an international crisis, a “test” in the first six months. I dare say the tests he knows about – the war, the economy – are big enough. I just hope he goes after anyone who really threatens us, the way Bill Clinton did, and leaves oilperialism alone.

  • Tom

Now I see where Al Quaeda has come out in support of McCain. That make him a terrorist?

  • Wilson46201

Poor Gabrielle Campo certainly could have used some of that $150,000 the Republicans spent on those shopping sprees for the Palins. That $150,000 certainly could have bought some TV time in Indianapolis…

  • Rico

No, I don’t have a grandmother, Tom. Your point? Incidentally, Barry’s biological grandmother is eating dirt sandwiches back home in Kenya, along with his half-brother. So please forgive me if I’m a bit cynical of your guy’s sentiment about family.
I, along with many thinking Americans, would like to know the true reason for this trip. If she is, in fact, ‘gravely ill’, why wait four days to go see her? Apparently, she’s not hospitalized yet. She may, however, be in time for his trip. That will give him an excuse to be at the hospital where he was allegedly born and perhaps look for his ‘real’ birth certificate.

  • Taxpayer 834512

Charge the press access for the election night party? The DNC need to roll out a red carpet and have an open bar. They needed a job done and the job was done well. “Opinion writers” and “journalists”.

  • http://www.hoosiersforfairtaxation.com Melyssa

No taxpayer, the press must now pay tribute to Obama for the privilege of selling their souls.

  • John Howard

“Now I see where Al Quaeda has come out in support of McCain.

Hmmm, is ‘reverse psychology’ being applied to endorsements now? Endorse the opponent of the guy you want to win because you know (think) people will fall for the ruse?

  • Tom

John: It’s the ol’ double-back-whammy, terrrorist style. The motives in this world get so confusing but fortunately boggers are here to clear it all up.

  • Disgusted Voter

What deal did Obama cut with Al Quaeda for this endorsement to throw the election his way? Barack Obama is a liar and a fraud. Unfortunately for the American public, the truth about Obama [this illegal alien]will not be disclosed until after you vote. He has the audacity to charge the media for pictures of his party election night. He has not won the election yet!

  • Shorebreak

Obama didn’t need to cut a deal with Al Quaeda. No more than Bush did when Al Quaeda endorsed Gore. Al Quaeda is nothing more than a boogie man created by the folks who need to manipulate you into supporting their policy objectives.
    .
If you’ve ever seen the movie “Weekend at Bernies”, You folks who still believe it’s real are all the guests at the party. Dead Bernie is Bin Laden and the two kids dragging him around are the US media and the federal government – working overtime to convince you that the threat is alive.

  • Tom

Disgusted: I am thinking maybe a promise to discontinue the Bush policy on hunting down bin Laden. Oh wait a minute, there isn’t such a policy….Incidentally, Bill Clinton, after all these years, has to be feeling a great weight finally lifted from his shoulders with the subject of right wing vilification shifting so swiftly to Obama….”fraud, liar, alien, not one of us (read: negro or worse), Democrat=liberal=socialist=Marxist=communist, anti-American, baby killer, terrorist’s pal, Muslim (for the religiously sensitive read: Jihadist), Caylee’s kidnapper (I threw that one in)”. Well, it will give new life to a.m. radio. Sheesh.

  • Tom

Oh and apologies for my question to Rico. A guy’s grandmother ought to be off limits.

  • Think Again

Palin is the best of the bunch, Melyssa? Are you freaking kidding me?

In the last two days, we’ve learned that she:

**got a $150K wardrobe, that frankly looks like Cindy McCain picked it out (translation: platinum blonde Vegas with too much of daddy’s money and too little taste). A trip to Kohl’s or Macy’s would’ve done her just as well.

**filed her tax return with Todd. In 2007, they made about $166K, paid $22K in taxes, and donated zero to charity. Not bad. Big heart, huh? Oh yeah, she would’ve fared better undere Obama’s tax plan.

**five times asked the state to pay her for transporting her children to and from their home to the Alaskan capital.

**mangled any cohesive defintion of the Constitutional powers of the VP. Again.

Sarah mangles the language. She’s a drag on McCain’s ticket. Sarah is not qualified. So sayeth Colin Powell. End of story.

  • Shorebreak

TA – So sayeth Colin Powell? Like all of those WMD’s that he assured us were in Iraq, so we had to send our children to get maimed and die and pre-emptively invade an entire country so that we would all be secure in our homes? That Colin Powell?
    .
If you place your trust in that guy, we need to talk. I’ve got some excellent deals on prime real estate in Bolivia. You can be neighbors with the Bush family and the Dalai Lama. Cheap.
    .
As far as Palin goes, she’s nothing but cannon fodder. Someone probably told her that they’d have DoJ drop all investigations against her if she agreed to go along with the campaign. If it was a real campaign, she’d be rallying the fence-sitters and speaking in Dem districts instead of bouncing from one upscale suburb to the next so that she can preach to the choir.

Wow, I come on here from time to time to read what Abdul has to say. I find his opinions to be fair and honest… people that comment on his posts, not so much. Take a good long look at your feelings about this election. Some of you are exactly the way these political parties, and our government in general, want you to be. Divided we stand, united we fall. Your allegiance to your party will be the death of this great (but needs a lot of work) country. Please think about that.

Based on your individual posts, I could probably tell you what radio hosts you listen to, what cable news network you watch, and basically, what Kool-Aid you drink. Do yourself a favor and stop voting for a party. While you’re at it, stop your own little negative campaigning for your “team”. Everyone thinks everyone else is stupid for who they’re voting for, when in reality, everyone is stupid for allowing themselves to feel that way. Remember, they are not your favorite football team. They are not the college you went to. They take your money, distribute it they way they see fit (good or bad) and make laws you have to live by. So really, stop voting for parties that divide us intentionally.

Unfortunately, the powers that be want you to pick one of two sides. Vote for the individual. Do that every time you vote. Maybe after 10 years of independent thought and independent voting, we might have a chance for viable 3rd and 4th party candidates. You better believe Democrats and Republicans don’t want that, but for the love of god, WE need that. My ballot will look like a bingo card that never wins, no straight tickets here, man. It’s time for the people to unite and divide the government, not the other way around as it has been for so long.

  • Rico

Think Again is just a self-loathing, catty, small-minded woman who begrudges Sarah Palin her success. Maybe if Sarah was a hideous, baby-killing troll like Hillary, she would get TA’s vote.
The folks in Alaska give Sarah Palin the highest approval rating of any sitting Governor. Of course, they’re not nearly as articulate and intelligent as TA thinks she is, so their opinions don’t matter.

  • Taxpayer 834512

Good news. You won’t have to read my daily tirade on the decline of journalism. Somebody did it for me: http://www.ldsmag.com/ideas/081017light.html

  • Jerry

Think Again, you are stepping in it trying to point out negatives about Sarah Palin when you’ve got Joe Biden on your side. He hasn’t done an interview with his press corps since September 7th and he is in complete hiding now. Why isn’t the media asking “Where is Joe?” He has a very long history of putting his foot in his mouth, and saying whatever the hell he thinks people want to hear. Sarah Palin has made herself more available to the media than Obama, Biden or McCain.
