It Ain’t Over Until…

To put it mildly, Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Jill Long Thompson has not had the best of weeks.  As a matter of fact when you really put the rubber to the road, her biggest moment has been winning the May primary and you could argue it’s been all downhill from there.

Fifty something days to go and what does JLT have to show for it: sagging polls, few specifics on policy initiatives, money problems, just to name a few.  But despite all that, I haven’t written off their campaign just yet.

If you will indulge the Star Wars geek in me, JLT is like Luke Skywalker.  She’s got one X-wing fighter and has got to get through the Imperial fleet,  make down the Death Star canyon, and fire two laser torpedoes in a two-meter exhaust shaft and get out before the darn thing blows up.

It’s not impossible, but JLT’s last best hope to salvage her campaign is to hit a home run in the upcoming gubernatorial debate.  I take that back.  She has to hit a grand slam every time she steps up to the plate.  She can’t do it by talking about growing up on farm, having and MBA and PhD in business or her three tier tax plan.  She needs to outline details and not just use the same old rhetoric of “good paying jobs.”

A lot of her fellow Democrats have written off her campaign.  A lot of politicos have also written her off.  I’m not ready to write this campaign off yet, but I do have a pen and paper handy if she doesn’t pull off a miracle next week.

Ahhh. My apologies. Your sense of humor is appreciated if not always discerned. Thanks.

    TP,
LOL - I'll take that as a compliment. I honestly don't expect everyone to understand my posts. How could anyone if their source for facts is talk radio, MSNBC, PBS, or the newspaper? Corporate media is nothing more than a distraction from the truth, not a record of it.
    .
The humorous link between improper drug disposal and tweetie-bird McCain is that a large percentage of prescription medication is for treatment of psychotic and neurotic conditions. Hence, a large percentage of support for someone like McCain.

SB- I'm never bored and have acquired a respect for your postings, independent of my ability to understand them all. I'm trying to understand what proper drug disposal has to do with the merit of McCain as a tyrannical globalist? This is an indictment of him as a capitalist (they have to buy more drugs because of improper disposal?), his failings as an environmentalist (improper disposal), or what? Please.

    Namon,
    .
    Understood.
    .
FYI - while it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that the formerly unknown globalist/Marxist Obama was popularized by a controlled corporate media blitz, the following article explains why many people support the tyrannical globalist John McCain:

  • Shorebreak,
I never said anything about voting party line. While I generally vote Dem, that doesn't mean that I always vote the straight party line. (I don't.) The point that I was trying to get across is that JLT's campaign is not doing a good job of getting voters like me (who lean Dem) to want to vote for them. While I do commend Mitch Daniels on some of the things that he has proposed, or helped get enacted (DST!!!, property tax reform, raising the income tax for higher income folks), there are also things that I do not like about what he's done. Most notably the toll road lease. I have also been turned off by the direction that the Republican party has gone in the past eight years. It has willingly allowed itself to be rebranded by Bush/Rove types. Being that Daniels came from the Bush White House, it is very hard for me to ignore that fact. So now it's looking like I'll be holding my nose while voting for governor. (whoever that may be now.)
  • Moneyguy
The debate! Come on nobody watches those things except political junkies. Her biggest hope is that she can pick up votes in a big back lash against Bush. That's her only hope! I doubt if she has a brother who knows the ways of the FORCE! ;)

"JLT did the taxpayers a favor by keeping Schellinger off the ballot."

    Operation Chaos, Indiana edition.

JLT could get elected in a heartbeat by just promising to repeal the property taxes and instituting the "Fair Tax" in Indiana. Oh but wait, fairy tales never do come true do they? Of course they would benefit all the people in Indiana and we can't have yhat can we? Must keep up the special interests and lobbiests needs at all costs.

    Amen
  • I'm voting for Andy Horning. I can trust him.
  • Greg
Shorebreak.....THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Good God, will the American voter ever understand the significance of what you have written? Our ultimate fate depends on it.
  • Shorebreak
Namon - Voting party line for the sake of voting party line is the reason that this nation and our states/cities are in the mess that we have right now.
    .
If everyone continues to follow your rationale, the Dem/GOP cabal that controls our government, takes our money, and subsequently creates policy to benefit private and foreign interests, will continue to suck this nation and our pocketbooks dry. Walking the party line is equivalent to walking the plank.
    .
Try voting for a candidate whom you agree with - even if the candidate isn't one whom the media has determined is suitable for your consideration.
  • I'm a Dem in Marion County, and I'm at a loss for words on JLT's campaign. I rarely ever hear anything about her, other than she's down in the polls. I get mail from various politicians on a regular basis, but I don't recall ever getting anything from her campaign. Since I'm a Democrat, I'd like to say that I will vote for her, but in light of me not seeing or hearing about anything that they are doing, I have no choice but to take a good long look at Mitch Daniels. If someone like me is feeling this way, that is definitely bad news for her.

But, trusting her feelings hasn't worked so well, so far.
