Lugar on Biden

Barack Obama has picked Delaware Senator Joe Biden to be his running mate.

Here’s U.S. senator Dick Lugar’s reaction, “I congratulate Senator Barack Obama on his selection of my friend, Senator Joe Biden, to be his vice-presidential running mate. I have enjoyed for many years the opportunity to work with Joe Biden to bring strong bipartisan support to United States foreign policy.

“I share the disappointment of many Hoosiers that my partner in the Senate, Evan Bayh, was not selected on this occasion, but I believe he will continue to have widespread support for higher office during many years ahead.”

Lugar made his statement while en route to Tbilisi, Georgia.

I’m off to cover the event.  It will be a long, fun day, for a political junkie like me.

Biden — the perfect foil for Palin!

I hope now we can all feel safe in our selection of Sen. McCain over Sen. Obama. This first of the many major decisions a potential president must make shows the kind of judgment he would possess as a president. I have never been excited about the plagarizing Sen. Biden. He has that smile that says I am better than you which is why no one ever got excited about his prior campaigns for President. He didn’t go over with Iowa voters because they knew he was fake. Now that the election is finally secured by Sen. McCain maybe we can get the economy going before he takes the oath and give him a boost and the ability to rest his 70+ year old brain some.

Well, Mo. Dem, get over it. They’re gonna win.

What a congenial and gracious statement by Sen. Lugar.

So much for HOPE and CHANGE….I do think Biden is honored to be on the ticket with such a “clean and articulate man..”.

Check out the video posted on Hoosiers for Fair Taxation. http://wewillnotbesilenced2008.com/video/index.htm

Maybe Democrats & Republicans should caucus together & save on gas…

Rico, what is this “clean” obsession you’ve got?

Lugar’s statement today almost redeemed himself in my eyes. Very gracious and magnaminous. Slick, too, becausae he knew it’d get picked up over and over on the (lazy) national news programs.

To refresh everyone’s mind: this is the same senior senator who stood by idly, wasting his foreign affairs bona fides, while Bush manipulated intellegence with Shooter, and got us into a stupid war. A testosterone-driven grudge match with horrid implications and consequences.

If he’d only spoken out so quickly then, we likely wouldn’t be in this mess.

True leaders don’t remain silent when their words could have dramatic effect, even if they’re unpopular.

I don’t see how (short of a blatant terrorism “smoking gun”) any historically-based geopolitical advisor would have told Bush to go into Iraq given hundreds of years of sectarian acrimony. Somebody got a historical rebuttal? I think a much better case for international(not Lone Ranger) cooperation’s upon us with Russia-China being Iranian energy customers. The Petroleum Dance is winding down on planet Earth, with the U.S. still on the sides eating chips and dip. We need to find some partners and get out on the floor. It looks like the Hyrdrogen, Solar, or Wind hoedowns are a-ways off.

TA, you democrats contridict yourselves too much. Is Bush an idiot or is he a criminal mastermind? Is he too stupid to be president or is he so intelligent that he was able to dupe the entire congress and American public into going to war in Iraq for his OWN personal gain?

If he is so smart, what does that say about your party?

Think Again, I agree with SnW. Lugar is as close to a Democrat as Lieberman is, and you still find reason to complain about him. Lugar is a wimpy liberal “Republican” that will never get my vote again. He basically campaigns for Obama and hasn’t said one thing about McCain that I’ve heard. I’ll vote for a Democrat for the first time in my life against Lugar.

    Well said, Jerry.
