Officer Shot!

An IMPD police officer was shot tonight on Indianapolis’ east side.  No word yet on his condition, but he was part of a team serving a warrant on a suspect.

I’ve been worried about this for a while.  If these idiots will shoot each other with no regard it was a matter of time before a police officer was hit by one of them.

Public Safety Director Scott Newman told me they are planning some aggressive tactics to crack on crime.

I wonder if they will be aggressive enough.

    Are all of our officers going to have to start carrying an AR15 at all times to stay on equal footing with the criminal element?

    Officer Fishburn (sp?) was shot once in the torso which was blocked by bullet proof vest, but unfortunately also shot once in the head which he is in surgery for right now. It sounds pretty bad and they already are calling him a hero. Trying to figure out one of the recent murders and gets shot himself, crazy city right now. I’m hoping for the best.

    Several cars went past my house located center city, almost downtown. I knew something really bad had occured.

    Jason E. Fishburn, 29, and a five year veteran. Father is also a current officer. The 36 y/o suspect was wanted for questioning in the murder of Clifford Haddix, 69, who was found murdered inside his home on Sunday.IMPD Chief Michael Spears called Fishburn’s head wound “devastating” – terrible news.

    We need officers in patrol groups walking beats in parts of town with high crime stats. Guiliani’s plan worked in NYC. That’s a good place to start looking for answers. We need to pray too.

    Yes, what happen to the walking street patrols, bicycles, etc? The city needs to restore neighborhood policing immediately. their presence in the community did make a difference.

    Why have the officer walking the beat when the city can have jack-legged preachers sing the “Peace in the Streets” then encourage neighbors to ’snitch’ on each other, while refusing police protection–then sit and wait while the criminals and the witnesses simply kill each other. It will help lessen the black population in Marion County, isn’t that what this administration wants?
