IMPD Officer Clings to Life
IMPD Officer Jason Fishburn is fighting for his life today after being shot in the head. Fishburn was shot on the Eastiside in the 800 block of Euclid. He and several other officers were serving a warrant on a man wanted in the murder of 69-year old Clifford Haddox.
Fishburn was also shot in the torso. He was taken to Wishard where doctors operated on him to alleviate the swelling in his brain. He is now in a medically induced coma.
The suspect was also shot, but his injuries were not life threatening.
Fishburn, 29, is a five-year veteran of IMPD, married and comes from a family that was in law enforcement.
Chief Mike Spears is calling on the community to pray for Fishburn.

I know this family. There isn’t a finer family in the law enforcement community. What a crying shame this is.
Of course they have our prayers. Godspeed, Jason.
Shot for serving a warrant. You didn’t mention the arrest of the shooter…I’m assuming that happened.
The job of LEOs is never simple. The easiest of tasks can be deadly.

The shooter was wounded in the shoulder and is in custody. He is the suspect in the murder of the elderly man who was beat to death in his home on Hamilton Ave.

In the words of Leon Russell:
Well, I don’t exactly know
What’s going on in the world today
Don’t know what there is to say
About the way the people are treating
Each other, not like brothers
Leaders take us far away from ecology
With mythology and astrology
Has got some words to say
About the way we live today
Why can’t we learn to love each other
It’s time to turn a new face
To the whole world wide human race
Stop the money chase
Lay back, relax
Get back on the human track
Stop racing toward oblivion
Oh, such a sad, sad state we’re in
And that’s a thing
Do you recognize the bells of truth
When you hear them ring
Won’t you stop and listen
To the children sing
Won’t you come on and sing it children
He’s a stranger in a strange land
More true today than when he wrote them…

Deus meus,
cum sis omnipotens,
infinite misericors et fidelis,
spero Te mihi daturum,
ob merita Iesu Christi,
vitam aeternam et gratias
necessarias ad eam consequendam,
quam Tu promisisti iis qui bona opera facient,
quemadmodum, Te adiuvante, facere constituo.

What do we know so far about the shooter? Did he have priors? Was on the street because the jail was was full?
No photo or mug shot anywhere to be found. If the guy had priors then where’s the mugshot?
I’d like to see what this scum looks like.
What’s the deal on the shooter?

This is really uncalled for and too bad. A combination of consecutive murders, a shot police officer, a police force in defensive-mode, and the evening festivities brought on by IN Black Expo should make for an interesting next few weeks.

The question is, will officers be proactive during black expo and stop the drug use,the many fights that break out, enforce curfew laws(not doing what they did last year, the fake curfew enforcement, could only stop 12 and under, driving around using the pa to give warnings for hours before taking action). and take action against the needless cruising. What is wrong with an event that over 200 police officers are used to control it? What happens to the rest of city when everyone is downtown?
