Go to the linked HFFT blog for a message to all of your real republicans...the ones that want government to:
1. Be small
2. Be open and accountable
3. Keep its nose out of our personal lives
4. Leave our guns alone

JD - your initial post implied otherwise. Thanks for the clarification.
.
Regarding economic recovery, everything Obama says SOUNDS hopeful. But remember, a campaign has nothing to do with policy, truth, reality, or intent. It's all about "message". Whoever conveys their message most effectively will win, so long as the corporations who benefit from policy agree to promote them in the media.
.
We need to move beyond Obama's "message" and get into his policy. Based upon his record, upon the policy record of his advisory staff, and upon his recommendations for change, Obama will do nothing more than radically build upon the economic and other policy foundations that have been advanced and implemented by each successive White House's for the last 40 years.
.
This media chosen, corporate candidate is not a solution to maintaining and protecting the integrity of the Constitution and the strength of US soveriegnty. And race has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I am not saying its all about color...what I am simply saying is we (ALL PEOPLE) have made progress in this society and some of us are still living in a shallow world. I wouldn't care if he was purple, blue or orange for that matter. I am for what is right and what will DIG our country out of this HOLE we are in. We all know the economy is in the worst shape. So if we can elect anyone...let it be someone for the people and elected by the people.

It is so sad to see blacks interviewed on TV who are just swooning because of Obama being the democratic nominee.

All they can say is how great it is to have a black man to elect president.

NOBODY says anything about his policies, beliefs, past political record, etc.

If that isn't RACIST, I don't know what is.

The contrast of our vast, collective decline to a man who looks and sounds refreshingly different seems to have also given him a free pass in dodging discussion of the sacrifice needed to save our country. If Senator Obama's leadership is the real deal, I hope I'm wrong and he's a closet fiscal and environmental conservationist- or will find the pragmatism to lead us that way.

At the end of the day, the man is impressive. He possesses lots of grace and has outstanding stage presence. It is easy to see how shallow minded people will get caught up in support of this given the horrible state of politics today. Where is the substance of his agenda? Bush and his republican friends have betrayed the opportunity given to them. Lets hope that Obama does the same to his supporters. If he does not, this country will be taking a sharp left turn, and it is onto a dead-end street. Then again, can he cause more damage than Bush has created? And can we absorb more political dysfunction?

JD - would it also be progress if an Idi Amin was given the chance to run the country?
.
If you are truly awake, race won't play ANY factor in your approval of a political figure. It has absolutely ZERO impact on policy once the individual is sworn in. Do you honestly want a President whose policies are a model of marxist ideology, and who has been promoted to the top of the political food chain by corporate media?
