THAT’S GOTTA HURT
The National GOP has got to be sweating like a bunch girl scouts at R. Kelly’s house. Republicans suffered a major defeat in a special election in Mississippi. Democrat Travis Childers beat Republican incumbent 54-46.
The special election was to fill the seat of former Rep. Roger Wicker who was appointed to to fill the vacancy left by Trent Lott. President Bush won the district in 2004 by 62 percent. This was a classic race, heavy GOP spending, appearances by Dick Cheney, recorded messages by the President, Laura Bush and John McCain, as well as GOP attempts to tie Childers to Barack Obama. None of it flew. Childers won by adopting the simple adage that “all politics is local” and he kept it that way.
Republicans have a shot at getting the seat back in November, but party divisions may hamper those efforts.
Republicans have lost in special elections in “safe” districts in Illinois and Louisiana. If something like this can happen in Republican rural Mississippi, just imagine what could take place here in Indiana.
My friends on the second floor of 47 South Meridian probably are.

It’s different here in the 7th Congressional District. Our Republican Party “organization” typically plans to lose, so no new result down South can affect the outcome.

One would think that with the Ballard victory last November the party would wake up and put in a real effort to take the 7th. You know, strike while the iron is hot.

this country is in for a world of liberal hurt for the next several years. republicans forgot about why they won big in ‘94.

Uh–wake up, Sugar. The code words like liberal dont work any more. Reagan’s been dead awhile now. It was nice while it lasted for ya, but how about joining the 21st century?

It’s bigger than sweeping in with a mandate of higher taxes on higher incomes, tweaking obscene big oil profits, eliminating off-shore tax evasion, and stopping pension fund abuses. It’s bigger than stopping dillution of infrastructure and salaries through illegal workers, or transforming the childbirth entitlement to child protection, or even capping the leviathan of entitlements in general. It’s all of the above, and Iraq. It’s both the revenue side and the spending side, and most of all getting two wretched parties to cooperate when the chips are down for the sake of country.

I know this is off subject but did anyone catch the requirements for voting in KY as described in the Obama brochure. It reads; “All voters must produce identificaton or be PERSONALLY ACQUAINTED with the precinct officer before voting.” No voter scams going on in KY now is there! Makes IN seem pretty hip with our voter ID law.

ha, Jon g that is a pretty good find. That is laid back Kentucky for ya! I swear whenever I have a business call in Kentucky they are likely going to be friendlier than here.

How about thinking for once, Think Again? Fifty years of Liberalism has given us a pathetic public education system, 1.5 million abortions a year, a decimated black family and has only widened the racial divide. Conservatives did, indeed, blow their chance at turning things around for the better. Libs, however, when back in control will take us to the brinks of hell. They already have a good head start.

By the way, Abdul, thanks for advertising the DVD questioning the existence of Jesus Christ. Do you get a kickback from Al Jazeera for that?
