PRIMARY COLORS
Today is the primary. You know what to do so go do it. Here are my predictions about today’s outcome and the reasons behind them. You’re welcome to add your own.
Presidential - I say Barack by 2-3 points. While Hillary leads in the Real Clear Average Poll and she has the mindles zombies participating in Operation Choas, I think the 160,000 new registered voters will be enough to put Barack over the top if they come out and participate today.
Governor - I give this one to Jill Long Thompson. Jim Schellinger’s campaign only came to life in the last couple weeks. And Long Thompson has been ahead in just about every poll that’s been taken. I give her the nod by 5.
7th District - I hate to disappoint the Andre Carson haters but I think he will pull this one off, also by about 5 points. Had it been a two-person race between Carson and Myers, I think Myers would be able to score a clear win. He may be able to eek out a victory by a couple points, but I think the Carson-Obama connection puts Carson over the top by 5 over his challengers.
5th District - I don’t think change will come to the second most Republican District in the country. Dan Burton will likely stay. I think if Jon McGoff had more money and hit Burton earlier this would have been a different story. The sliver lining in all this is that if there is a God, this will be Danny’s last term in office.
These are my predictions, but the caveat in all this is that it could change. :-)
Go vote and don’t forget your ID.

Now they’ve got YOU doing it. Carson ‘haters’.
Sorry, it’s not a matter of hate. He’s a very pleasant person to talk to. He’s just not got the right stuff for the job and doesn’t deserve to be there, despite the ‘pity vote’ he’s received.

No offense John, but the Carson complaining gets old after a while and I honestly think that some people have obsessed over Andre and Julia just way too long and they need to move on.

Joe: Amen, Bro. Abdul!
May 6th, 2008 at 7:38 am
Well at least today we can move on to either start supporting him or go Republican with Jon Elliott. I share that you can only complain so long before the complaints themselves are the problem. If we can’t find someone so dynamic like an Obama for our Congressional District, that is our problem. We don’t have to plaque the entire city with it.

Abdul, I played in Operation Chaos but I am not a mindless zombie to have voted for Hillary. If this crazy state allows me to go in and ask for the other party ballot don’t blame me, blame the people running the game. Frankly, I am more afraid of an Obama in the big seat than I am of Hillary.
-
As for my district, if the people in my district are too stupid realize that they will get more of the same old same with Andre than I want to change that.
-
To quote you, Abdul, “Don’t hate the player.”

If it’s obsession to detest election to public office based on name, race, gerrymandering or corporate funding, versus merit and stance on issues, I’m an obsessor (albiet idealist) in that line with Mr. Howard.

“I honestly think that some people have obsessed over Andre and Julia just way too long and they need to move on.”
Yeah, what’s a little incompetency among friends?
May 6th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Abdul, are you even registered to vote, in Indiana?
May 6th, 2008 at 9:30 am
We had quite a wait for voting this morning in Precincts 47, 48, and 49… about 15 minutes each while the other one was babysitting in the car. Oh, and just like last year, I caught a bunch of electioneering going on. This time, the Democratic posse was out front with a bunch of leaflets asking what party you were from, and when I pointed out the sign outside said he couldn’t campaign there, HE MOVED THE FREAKING SIGN.
Then, I got inside, and they had the literature at the sign-in table for 47. I asked the lady when I got to the front if she was campaigning for Andre Carson, and she said it was somebody else’s who left it there. The inspector, who was on the phone, gave me a dirty look and motioned to her to get it off the table. There was another one at the sign-in for 49, but nobody was in line there. The funny thing is that Carson doesn’t even represent our district.

I’ve got a right to beeeyotch about the carson. they represent my district.

You can complain all you want. But instead of the perpetual complaining, why don’t you register more voters than Democrats, get them out to the polls and go win.
May 6th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Wow, what’s with all the name calling today, Abdul? “Mindles (sic) zombies” and “Carson haters” - this is well below your usual standards. Perhaps this whole thing is getting to you.
May 6th, 2008 at 11:59 am
Abdul, it sounds like you are the one complaining about people choosing how they will vote.
-
Good for the people of Indiana who ARE choosing who they will vote for. It sounds like all the media and pundits are pissed that the PEOPLE have a mind of their own and don’t follow what they are ’supposed’ to do.
-
Let’s face it, the last time the Indiana primary MATTERED was 40 years ago. Odds are that we would have to wait another 40 years to see anything like this to happen again and WHY shouldn’t I be participating?
May 6th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Operation Zombie participant - I’d gladly support only letting R’s vote in the R primary and D’s in the D if you mindless party bozos would pick up the tab for the primary - but since I have to foot the bill how is it “crazy” to allow me to participate?
Unfortunately we don’t have any minimum IQ threshhold before we allow people to vote - so the best we can hope for is that the R-Zombie vote (I like his movies more than his music) and D-Zombie vote (Dweezel?) cancel each other out leaving the decision in the hands of those of us that actually think for ourselves.

Abbie, How much have you had to drink? Someone cut him off when he starts posting. Obama (unfortunately) will not win Indiana.
May 6th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
I take it by your silence that you arent registered to vote, Abdul? And you call people who have taken the time to register, and who can vote for whichever party they want, “mindless zombies”?
At least those people you disparage took the time to actually express their vote, as opposed to a (not deserved) haughtily kibbitzing.
May 6th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Hey Say What,
I voted and have done so in just about every election since 1992.
May 6th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
the plain fact is there are more democrats than republicans is the 7th. we could register till were blue in the face and it will always be the same.
May 6th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
i was listening to limbaugh today, he is still under the impression that we dont have daylight savings time here and telling his listeners as of 2 pm today the polls in indiana are open till 7 pm. As he calls himself Commander in Chief etc. it caused me to think, this ist he leader of the opposition that disrupts is all, a man whose own mother said he couldn’t pass ballroom dance.
May 6th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Hey MD, please do your homework and get your facts straight before you lambaste. Otherwise you just make yourself look bad. In certain parts of this state, the polls are open until 7 PM EST, because there are portions of this state on CST. 6:00 CST = 7:00 EST. For the record, CNN and RUSH both got it right.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:24 am
Rush openly stated yesterday Indiana is not on Daylight Savings Time? Is that true Uncommon? Of couse not, we know it is not true now don’t we. As for poll closing times, those can varry yes, but he was having a debate with someone on air about the time and one person thought it was 8 and he said it was 7. I don’t care about that, a national radio personality that is supposed to be so great should know our great republican governor got dst enacted into law. For the record I like dst.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
I had Carson winning the 7th by 7%. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he would win by a whopping 22%. If that doesn’t tell ya something about the City of Indianapolis, I don’t know what does.

for precinct captain:
Laura Spearman 8 (73%)
Darla Williams 3 (27%)
