I received a call from my friend who had talked with Mr. John. They were amazed at his attitude to tell them how to vote. I told him if he calls again he should ask if he is same guy who bullied Elrod and Ballard out of their races by steering support from them. This is fast becoming the party of negativity instead of high morals and character. I liveoutside Indianapolis and I hear that Zoeller is heavily supported around state and people are offended that Marion County thinks it controls who should be in office. Funny, Ballard and Elrod surely support Zoeller given they did their races on their own.

I have some news to come as to why he picked Costas.

Something is stinky in Indy and I had been a fan of Daniels' for the most part. This makes me rethink the people leading some portions of his campaign and why he listens to them.

Using the AG office as a stepping stone for higher office is exactly what our state doesn't need. I heard Costas was recruited for this spot in an attempt to get a Northerner on the ticket. It seems like he was "guaranteed" the nomination without having to convince the GOP delegates. And from what I have seen, he has not been campaigning much. Whereas I have heard Zoeller has been working very hard and attending many Lincoln Days. Folks really like him. I would think his ties to Carter and Quayle would count for something up north and the last time I checked a couple D's have filled some congressional spots down south. Greg's southern roots certainly could help there. I hope this doesn't backfire on the Gov. He really seemed to miss the boat on this one.

Whatever happen to experience, and why wouldnt the Gov go with someone who already knows the day to day operations of the AG's office? Zoeller has been the deputy AG for the past 8 years, with a proven Conservative record going back to the White House and Senator's office with Vice President Quayle.

Political futures---i like the endorsement of Costas he is someone who could take the AG position and become a senator one day, as what is what happens in many other states (for some reason in Indiana AGs dont go onto higher office)...(also, i say Senator, b/c i would like Todd Rokita to be our next governor),,,but speaking of political futures, there is no way Brad Ellsworth isn't calculating his in the futre past his House seat, b/c he is yet to endorse Clinton or Obama and Hillary carried every county in his district...i think he is looking to a run for governor in 2012 or perhaps the Senate sometime...

Daltonsbriefs is entirely correct.
.
.
Besides it's the appointed positions that political hacks without real job skills maneuver for. Only accountable to your patron in those jobs, not the electorate.

Mayor Jon Costas has the ability to perform the job, so do lots of other men and women. The key, as explained by the Governor, is getting elected ... Republicans tend to forget that politics requires getting elected.

Ahhh....now I see....
-
The ability to actually perform the job well isn't the issue -- doesn't even seem relevant.
-
The ability to be a "proven vote-getter" is more important.
-
I wish that I could get a job where the qualification to actually perform that job isn't relevant.
