SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION
I have to take a few minutes to engage in some really bad shameless self-promotion. Because Indiana is so crucial to picking the Democratic nominee for the Presidency some of us local politico types have been approached by the national press to offer up our perspective.
I’ll be on KABC radio in Los Angeles later this morning.
I’m doing an interview with Fox News Saturday Sunday afternoon at 4:15 Eastern time.
And here’s the icing on the cake, Al Jazeera English wants me to co-host their election night coverage. There’s nothing like going global.
Of course I’ll also be helping out over at RTV 6 and WXNT.
This is another reason why I love politics.

Congrats. You’re the best media person I know that is not just still “tuned-in”, but proactively elicits opinion from the public. Your head may be big, but your ears are still open. Knock ‘em dead.

Congrats Abdul…. one suggestion. When I watch you it appears you are having a great time. Look studious and serious on the global front and seem more like the contemplative political scientist you are…. LOL. But seriously, we do want you to grown into a big time job so you might strategize on how you appear. You do like what you do and I applaud that.

Good for you!

I’m glad your self-promotion is shamless, if not shameless! ;-)

The Republicans often talk about capitalism. They talk about profit as a great thing. I think its called the American Dream? I am proud that Abdul has this opportunity. I just hope he shows that serious side instead of that incessant smile showing how much he enjoys all this. LOL.

Incessant smile = Cheshire Cat = Abdul.
April 25th, 2008 at 9:16 am
and…. what a nice smile it is! I am sure his banker sees that smile very often. In fact I bet he gets a Christmas Card from the bank, the bank branch manager, the bank tellers and even the bank janitors.

Get it while you can; Indiana will soon be the media’s afterthought again.

You should appear with a cigar in one hand and a martini in the other…
April 25th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Way to go Abdul! And I agree with the cigar and martini commentator look that Adam suggested.
April 25th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Congrats Abdul…..have fun!

Good Job Abdul! – and remember that your success is mostly due to bringing otherwise unreported issues to the people and challenging the status quo as a result. Take the opportunity to show your edge when you’re in the national spotlight – introduce a critical issue and invite debate – and you’ll definitely place yourself in higher demand.

Al Jazeera is a terrorist-sponsored, anti-American media corp. regardless of whether English is spoken. As far as the other gigs go: Congrats, Abdul.

Rico is correct. All the more reason to go with the martini/cigar combo during their coverage. And if Hillary can squeak out a victory, just look straight into the camera, shrug, and say, “Too bad, Hamas!”

Wow Abdul,
It is gonna be hard to jump over your EGO in the next few weeks. Really good luck and be safe.

Rico,
Al Jazeera started out as the BBC’s Middle Eastern Bureau in Saudi Arabia. After disagreements with the Saudi government, the Sultan of Oman (a long term strategic ally of Brit and US corporate leadership – ie MI6 and CIA) migrated the staff to Doha and created Al Jazeera, where the former BBC broadcasters were joined by numerous Ted Turner employees from CNN.
Without going into any detail, Al Jazeera is nothing more than a propaganda operation, similar to FOX News, the BBC, and CNN. The only difference is that Al Jazeera is subtly used to foment hatred of Christians and the West, while FOX, CNN etc are subtly used to create hatred and suspiscion of Islam and the Middle East.
The key to understanding this dichotomy is uderstanding that both Al Jazeera, and it’s western propaganda counterparts, are created and staffed by the same organizations. If you think Al Jazeera is any worse than FOX or CNN, you’ve probably been relying upon corporate media as a basis for your opinions.

Shorebreak- where do go for “unbiased coverage” of national/global events? Corporate or private, online or print or radio or tv? Or, do you have a recommended mix that when looked at as a whole, triangulates you to what’s really going on?
April 26th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Pardon- Correction: Shorebreak- where do you go…
April 28th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
We are in agreement. Shameless is a good word to describe you, Abbie.
