CARSON PICKING OBAMA?
I’m hearing 7th District Congressman and candidate Andre Carson may endorse Barack Obama today. Carson has been on the fence for a few months every time I asked him. Carson is also a super delegate.
A formal endorsement would also signal a tight race in the 7th and by supporting Obama, Carson would be endearing himself to the 7th District Democratic voters where polls show Obama is winning overwhelmingly against Hillary Clinton.
11:05 a.m. Update: Apparently on a conference call this morning, Carson told reporters Obama is going to endorse him for Congress and that the deal was worked out prior to his support for Obama.

Does this mean Evan will also endorse Obama. He told all of us on TV that Andre was the BEST qualified person among the hundreds of thousands in the 7th District to lead us as Congressman. Hence if Andre says it, that means its the best choice and Evan must follow? This only shows the traditional stupidity in my party. I’d love one election cycle to see some good old fashioned common sense.

Wow, Mo Dem…you really still like to play that game? You know the one: your enemies must be my enemies, my friends must be your friends.
It doesn’t work in 21st century shruken-world politics.
Maybe, just maybe, Evan and Andre have differing opinions on this issue.
I get the strong sense Evan wishes he hadn’t endorsed so early.
Vive la dierrance.

** “differance”

Vive la Différence.

While we’re dreaming, what if we voted (among the paltry choices typically available), for the candidate with the most common sense, regardless of party, race, or relegion? That means no longer spending money we don’t have and eliminating loopholes that shouldn’t be there anyway. Oops. Sorry. ….lost my head there….what was I thinking?…..back to the trough with the rest of cattle……..

Evan Bayh will drop support for Andre like Andre’s spine has gone putty.
April 16th, 2008 at 10:39 am
I refer the readers to a recent Editorial Letter in Nuvo which seems to address this issue concerning Bayh and Hillary.
April 16th, 2008 at 10:48 am
Well I’d think that if Evan thinks Andre is so smart about things, he would want to switch to Baracko. But I dont care either way, I’d not vote for Evan if he ran unopposed for Dog Catcher of Marion County. When he and Andy can say Andre is the MOST qualified of all of us in Marion County then that tells me their judgment is lacking in common sense. My Democratic Grandpa is spinning in his Southeast Missouri grave. I got a call from the cemetery sexton asking me to stop commenting so positively on republicans the other day.
April 16th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
I was going to vote for Obama in the primary. However, because he cares so little for us that he is endorsing Andre Carson, that changed my mind.
April 16th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
I understand Heather Mills-McCartney will be “stumping” for him, too.
April 16th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Mely we are not of the right mold for those two. With your background and me a homo I am sure that Andre and Baracko would prefer to associate with others over us. I’d be happy to sell either a yellow page ad though. :-)
April 16th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Evan backing Andre is like Bart backing Monroe. What are these people thinking?
April 16th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Andre Carson does NOT know what he is doing.
___________________________________________
Any first year Political Science student would tell you that Andre GAINS NOTHING from this endorsement and LOSES 100% of those who are supporting Hillary Clinton.
____________________________________________
Also, this move doesn’t help Obama much, if at all. Andre seems to have very little political power as a brand new congressional freshman and seems to be in a fight for his political life (even if he doesn’t know it).
__________________________________________
Yes, Obama wants Andre’s vote as a Super-Delegate, but if they were smart this endorsement would have come after the Primary.

Please, let me know if you think that I am incorrect about this (anyone except wilson). I can’t see how this will help either one of them in the Primary.
April 16th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Of course sexist Andre was going to support Obama. Andy Jacobs did and Andre doesn’t have an original thought of his own!
April 16th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
“Lobbyists and CEOs have too much power in Washington. That’s got to change, so we can help working people. I am Andre Carson and I approve this message.”
Andre the Clown for got to mention that 71% of campaign contributions are from PACs… SEVENTY-ONE PERCENT.

PoliSci Student, no actually you are right in that his endorsement is ill timed when he could wait unless of course he is being paid off with a job in a future Baracko administration because he thinks he is going to lose. In that case he has made the point of endorsing and costing himself the election and something to barter with afterward if Baracko wins.
April 16th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
I’m amazed that Carson’s vast body of legislative success has already risen to the level of getting endorsed by a presidential … candidate (if that’s really what’s going on).
If Carson is endorsing Obama … so what? That would seem a little pompous or narcissistic to me. A congressman for a whole month and ready to start endorsing presidential candidates? Now if Julia was still in that position and was, as long-serving congresperson doing an endorsement that would seem to have value.
Ultimately I think all of the recent endorsement business has watered down the value.
April 16th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
When and if Evan drop support for Andre, will we drop our support for Evan, its that simple.
April 16th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Sean Shepard was the Libertarian losing candidate for Congress. Will that make him a Libertarian SuperDelegate? If so, who will he support for President on the Libertarian ticket? Does it matter?
April 16th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Honestly I guess of democrats I am the only one in Indiana not thrilled by Evan and his clones (Ann Delaney, Joe Hogsett, Bart Peterson, etc. etc. etc.) When he got elected Governor I was looking for a job and applied with the state and got a wonderful letter grading my application at 1000 percent out of 100 percent but we have a hiring freeze, then they continued to hire people less qualified for jobs I was over qualified for, but I was the wrong race and gender to get those jobs. The minority candidates got an up and add the double minority status of being a woman and there you have it, the gay white man with the 1000 percent received a failing grade at a state job. When patronage jobs went out the door, the party went out the door.

Senator Evan Bayh has NOT endorsed Andre Carson for the Primary Election!
______________________________________________
Bayh only made his previous endorsement for the Special Election, when Carson was NOT running against other Democrat. I do not expect Senator Bayh to make any endorsement for this Primary.
______________________________________________
Bayh’s previous endorsement was almost total risk free. He had virtual nothing to lose by endorsing the ONLY Democrat in the race.
_______________________________________________
Obviously, Bayh knows when to make win-win endorsements and Carson does NOT.

Personally, I would like to thank the Democratic party. You are giving me a CHOICE for President, Governor and the 7th District…and I’m going to have so much fun!
April 16th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
So then is Melyssa joining the “Ron Paul Revolution” now?
April 17th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
I think I know you Missouri Democrat, don’t I? I do recall you are from Missouri, political, and gay. I did not make the connection until now. Maybe we should both vote Republican in the primary and vote for Ron Paul.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
And Wilson…FYI, I’ve been a Ron Paul supporter all along! He’s the ONLY candidate that makes any sense.
April 17th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
Will Barack Obama pay for Andre Carson’s mediocre television advertising?
Perhaps the Obama/Carson/Farakkkan black racial purity connection is stronger than you thought.
Will Wilson support Clinton still, or will he follow his lover Andre to the Obama camp?
April 17th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
Hippie Joe you sound like a true biggot, you should stop smoking that sh@t!
April 17th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Evan who????? That man sold his soul the minute he went national. I haven’t heard him change his pro-life stance yet, but he’ll have to if he runs with Hillary. What a political whore!
April 17th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Hippie Joe are you sincerely serious about running for the United States Congress? Please tell us why we should send your racist ass to office.
April 17th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
PS. David O should keep his head up and run for the United States Senate we are ready to send Evan Bayh a strong message of non support. The man Evan that left Indiana worth about lets say a 100grand, and now is worth a reportley 15million, good job Evan, I see why you endorsed the Clintons they are worth over 100 million bucks. Carson has done what any political leader or candidates would do. Give the man credit. Let’s not talk about Senator McCain.

Here’s a report from Jim Shella’s blog reported on Advance Indiana blog:
____________________________________________
An item on Jim Shella’s blog hints that U.S. Rep. Andre Carson has run his tap dry. According to Shella, Carson ads scheduled to air on WISH-TV this week were pulled after the campaign failed to make advance payments. Shella writes:
_____________________________________________
TV ads for Congressman André Carson slated to run on Tuesday, Wednesday, and today did not air because of a failure to make the required advance payments.
______________________________________________
Carson campaign manager Alex Zwerdling confirmed this afternoon that no payment was made. He, at first, suggested that that it was the result of a strategic decision, then changed his answer to, “No comment.”
_____________________________________________
If Carson is truly out of money and unable to purchase a sustained media buy in these closing three weeks of the campaign, that provided all the more incentive for him to swap endorsements with Sen. Barack Obama.
