Mr. Joe, if Greg Garrison used racial slurs against someone he would be just as wrong as Amos. I don’t listen to him every day but I would say I’ve logged a few hours here and there and I’ve never heard him use such a despicable reference such as calling someone an Uncle Tom. There’s no excuse for it, plain and simple, yet Mr. Brown regularly uses such hateful and caustic rhetoric.

I haven’t read his column in the Recorder on a remotely regular basis so I don’t plan on holding the affiliation against Ms. Mays, but if it’s anything like his radio show…

So Joe, it seems to me that what you are saying is that politicians pull the wool over our eyes. I agree with you 100% if that is what you mean. They tell us what we want to hear.
My experience in politics tells me that ‘new’ politicians really do want to change things but when they get in office it doesn’t take long to realize that they can’t really make a dent in the system so: if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. That’s just how our political system works. Now having said that I still have faith in a guy like Mayor Ballard. I truly believe that he was/is sincere in the things he’s said and stands for. Like I’ve said and Abdul has too, time will tell. Let’s hope he can circumvent the machine to truly make a difference.

Hey,Jon whats pal? If I quoted you wrong I apology, however, let’s talked about the issues my friend. Myers, Mays, David O, Carson, Obama, Billary,etc. These guys get paid for their abilities to get high ratings. Almost like Myers recieving bonouses for declinning medical claims, or Mays voting herself a payraise or Carson missing votes etc. Let’s get with the program people!

Joe, you must have me confused with someone else. Regarding your quote ‘and as Jon G says :” leave the meds alone,’ I’ve never said that in a post here or anywhere. The only thing I will say regarding this discussion that there is a difference between journalism and entertainment/commentary, albeit a very fine line nowadays.

If we’re saying Mr. Garrison’s mind is as sealed shut as Mr. Brown, I would agree. However, I think I differ as to what constitutes journalism versus commentary. Lastly, how far is it going to fly if only we in the white community will deal with our white leaders? I long to escape into some Star Trek episode as much as the next guy some days. But, I think we’re all stuck here trying to get along. Mr. Brown and Mr. Garrison both get to take their lumps as public figures.

If Bro. Amost is a racist, then MSNBC, CNN, FOX, PBS, CBS,NBC,ABC, Meet the press, Face the Nation etc. It’s called journalism open your mind and take a deep breath Mucraker and get over it and be a part of the solution not the problem. Economy, Health Care, War in Iraq, Violence in our community, Education Crisis, Booming Gas prices, Welfare reform. Pick one of these issues and give us your opinion on how these candidates are going to address them. Amos is journalism, the candidates and elected official represent public policy this is where the dialouge must go.

Yesterday I heard Amos Brown refer to a Supreme Court Justice as “Uncle Thomas Clarence.” What a vile, despicable thing to say. Muckraker, while I agree he certainly says a lot of racist things, he’s just as willing to sell out other black people if they don’t fall in line with his political agenda. That’s what makes him a truly soulless individual. On top of that, he’s kind of an all-around village idiot.

Joe, I have a point. Does publisher/candidate Mays spread her views through her writer racist Amos Brown?

If she disagreed with his racist views, she has the authority to terminate him from her payroll at the newspaper in the same way that Obama could have walked out of a service in which racist views were being advocated but did not.

This district is diverse, Joe. The representative will represent the entire district. The representative should bring the constituents together and also represent their interests as a whole, not just those of a racist mindset, which are in the minority. If the representative has hatred toward the constituents, or a majority of them, then the ability to represent them properly is hindered.
