RETURN TO SENDER
Heads up! An ordinance will be introduced on Monday’s first City-County Council meeting to take control of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department from Sheriff Frank Anderson and put it under the control of Mayor Greg Ballard. Republicans have a 16-13 majority on the Council, so I don’t think there will be much of a problem getting it passed.
I’m also hearing that language will be included in Marion County Government consolidation legislation this session that will require the General Assembly to approve any effort to return control of IMPD back to the Sheriff.

Thank God!(or insert the deity of your choice)
Things won’t change overnight, but we are on our way to being proud again.

It’s too bad what the former administration has done to this city, and it’s fine law enforcement community.

Hey trolls…heads up
Your guy won the election. It’s time to stop bashing the past administration for anything you don’t like, even if youi are wrong sometimes.
It’s time to govern.
I know it’s tedious but it’s gotta be done.

Think Again, think again. For eight years Peterson’s administration laid the blame for a multitude of problems at the feet of Lugar, Hudnut and Goldsmith. The previous administrations failed to take care of: the sewers, police/fire pensions, abandoned houses etc. Even after Bart was reelected, and the problems were definitely HIS problems he saw nothing wrong with laying off the blame for what he was not getting done.
Ballard is the new mayor, and he has a right to expose to public scrutiny the malfeasance that the past eight years of governance has allowed.
The problems that this city faces due to shortsightedness on the part of Peterson’s administration should and need to be brought to light. Only then will the taxpayers understand what must be done to correct these problems.
I find it disingenuous that those supporters of the Democratic machine here in Indianapolis were the first to jump all over the prior Republican administrations, and are now saying that this new administration needs to let sleeping dogs lie.
As long as you were the ones bashing and trashing others it was okay. But heaven help those who are now calling for review and scrutiny of the Dems.

I love how all the Peterson supporters, especially some in the media *coughtullycouch* want to act like the opposition is being snide. When the shoe was on the other foot, we heard no end of how Ballard was inexperienced, out of touch, etc. Turnabout is fair play.

Ah, but this is the Democrat way. Clearly you are not yet enlightened, Grasshopper.

Former IPD officers, how soon we forget! MCSD never had trouble with contract negotiations but historically IPD has ALWAYS had to fight with the MAYOR-not just liar BART but previous mayors as well. Possibly it won’t be a problem with Mr. Ballard, but what about those that follow? Mr. Ballard is unusally cop friendly. You all should know that is not normal! You better think twice about this! Frank may be unreliable, but his term is on the downslide. The next Sheriff WILL BE a true representative of law enforcement, not just a bobble head doing what car 2 tells him to do!

Thanks MCSD but no thanks. I’ll take problems with contracts over having to worry about who I have to know and whos butt I have to kiss.
