It is unfortunate that today’s politician is more in tune with his/her own interests and those of their friends than in what the people need and want. The ego and arrogance of these politicians will be rewarded, in time. All too often have we seen the mighty fall from great heights, to be dashed on rocks of their own building.

Go ahead America, allow the Kennedys, Bushes, Clintons, Carsons and such to continue to build their own fiefdoms and political kingdoms. When your personal freedoms have eroded to the point where you have to present papers to anyone and everyone just to travel to the store, all in the name of “security”; when you have no money to spend once you get to the store because the government has confiscated it all in taxes, perhaps then you will look back and ask yourself, “Where has my country gone?”

We are heading down a road that the Founders would have trembled at. If you vote against André you will be labeled “racist” and “religious bigot”; vote against Hillary and be called a misogynist; vote for secure borders – jingoistic. Every group has a slur for those that do not line up lock step with their own point of vanity.

We are to the point where civil discourse has given way to screeching accusations. I am awaiting the day when we have a repeat of the caning of Senator Charles Sumner. Reason and common sense have taken leave of our leaders on both sides of the aisle.

To borrow from Christopher Latham Sholes: Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. As the owners of this country we, as voters, need to force our politicians to temper down the rhetoric and screeching. New laws and restrictions will not do it, but rather new ideas and convictions. Refuse to vote for any candidate and their minions that resort to any form of “baiting” whether it be race, sex, religion, orientation etc. Vote only for the candidate that shows the “content of their character” and their ability.

Jon has demonstrated he can get the vote the old fashioned way door to door, person to person, heart to heart. I was reared in the party of Harry Truman, molded by the early 60′s and see a nation rapidly moving into chaos. Our greatest threat is ourselves. Rampant crime caused by various social ills and a stagnant economy will be our own un-doing.

I might even donate a dollar or two to Jon. Carson is not the candidate that understands the needs of this district. He would be nothing politically without his last name. Andy Jacobs statement that having a African-American political dynasty is downright stupid.
