THE “RACE” FOR SHERIFF

As the tug of war over the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department continues between Mayor-elect Greg Ballard and Sheriff Frank Anderson, there is another fight that is getting ready to flare up as well.

There are rumblings in the African-American community that if the soon to be Republican-controlled City-County Council takes IMPD from Anderson and gives it to Ballard then it would be taking power away from the Black Sheriff and giving it to the white Mayor. So forces are gathering to begin the obligatory protests and letters to the editor, etc.

Before people get too worked up they may be overlooking one little detail. If Anderson has his way, power will already be transferred from the Black Sheriff. The Sheriff has already endorsed his right-hand man Kerry Forestall for the job when he runs in 2010. Forestall, by the way, is white.

So anyone who plans to protest or march on city hall to object to power being taken away from the first Black Sheriff and given to a white guy may want to stop by Anderson’s office on the way. This way they can avoid looking like total hypocrites and instead just silly protesters.

The police department SHOULD be under the Mayor as it is in large cities around the country. Period.

    Abdul,

They don’t care about the facts, they just want to hold on to as much power as they can.

  3. Concerned Taxpayer & Citizen

You don’t really expect facts to get in their way, do you! (rhetorical question)

    And…

  5. Bill Brown

Has anyone thought that if Ballard gets control of IMPD the pea shake houses are history. Tthat is why the community wants to stop Ballard from taking IPD back.
    Sorry about your luck Sweetpea.
Give it up Sweetpea. your busted and no fat city contract after you retire next month. Pea shakes will close and all the ghetto mafia and corruption will fall apart along with some inditements we are hearing on the street.

Monroe, i don’t know if you can read, but if you can read all about John Gotti, also called Teflon Don………this will be good reading as you pass the time away in prison/

Tokens are meant to be spent.

Well Bill Brown, you hit the nail on the head.

WILL MOVING IMPD UNDER CONTROL OF MAYOR BALLARD BE THE END OF THE ILLEGAL NUMBERS RACKETEERING OPERATIONS IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY?

I for one, will give Mayor-elect Ballard 90 days to bust the Black Syndicate that controls the illegal numbers racket (pea shakes) and their subdidiary criminal enterprises after he takes control of IMPD.
If this does not happen then we can safely assume that Ballard is no better than the Mayor he replaced. In fact, Ballard could find himself in a world of hurt for failure NOT to act.
    Our eyes are watching.

  8. Nytlaw

terms of 90 days is absurd! How did you come up that time deadline. please show me. I will be watching. Then I will show you the resources that we have and do not have on IMPD because of the Bart Machine. Dont forget, when they ( pea shake operators ) are let out of jail within in 2 days they just open another one. But at least with Ballard I do suspect alot more backing for IMPD to do their jobs and get resources and man power to do it with and not be told at roll calls ” dont confront the pea shake houses “.

Please show me how you came up with this time frame !

    Nytlaw,
Precisely what type of “resources” does IMPD need to take down the illegal numbers racket? I assume IMPD still has arrest powers don’t they?
The problem is this, organized crime does not operate in a vacuum. Without police assistance they cannot exist. Without political assistance they cannot exist. Without media assistance they cannot exist.
So where does Greg Ballard stand? After he assumes control in IMPD will he continue to allow police protection of black organized crime running the illegal numbers racket and their narcotics trade, prostitution and loan sharking enterprises? I think that’s a fair question and one which Ballard WILL be forced to address at some point within 90 days after he assumes control of IMPD.
It doesn’t require a great deal of thinking for one to see that Frank Anderson is looking to cut a deal with Ballard to insure that black illegal numbers racketeering will be allowed continued protection.
With Brizzi involved in the mix it will be interesting to see exactly how much influence that black organized crime will have over Ballard.
If Ballard takes the position that his soul is not for sale to anyone at any price then he WILL start to clean up this town. It is his choice as to whether or not he makes that call to the Department of Justice, a call that previous Mayors never made.

  10. Nytlaw

You give this “black organized crime” way to much credit; being able to coordinate a multi-layer protection across party lines to Ballard. Although you have it right when you speak of the corruption that grasp ahold of Sheriff Anderson (remember he said his existance as a child was fron these houses) and out going Mayor Bart Peterson, oh,and lets not forget Monroe Gray also who has been seen visiting these homes on several occasions.
The media is biast ffor all democrats, its well known. Ballard is a republican, so we can count them out in standing with justice, the will stand against the mayor elect and make all envolved in the peashakes just victims over poverty looking to get ahead and the “man” hasn’t given them enough. ( you know the self entitlement stuff)

Arresting poweres are still up in the air, at he moment, we will wait to see the out come on that one from the state. Resources, like surveillence, narcs to set up. without it there will no convictions, no evidence no warrnats, no arrests, no conveiction. Its a Brizzi thing, look at his record.

Ballard is not a eal maker, you only suspect that he may be or that you hope he is not. But rest assured he is not.

still waiting on this 90 day thing to be clearified!

  11. IMR

It’s absurd that Anderson or anyone else would throw up race as an issue, Anderson doesn’t even support the concept, he is supporting a WHITE successor.

As for the peashakes, these houses are common nuisances and should be leveled and replaced with a Peaceful Community Maintained “Flower” garden, compliments of Sheriff Bling-Bling.

Yes, the dems will try to “buy” Ballard to allow them to keep the peashakes, though they may have to come up with cash since they can’t deliver the votes, snicker.

The preachers will try to “cash-in” on Ballard by convincing him that the low turn-out in center township was because they told their congregation to stay at home on election day.

    Didn’t happen. We checked. snicker

A few ministers will say they told their congregation to “vote for the person who does not want to raise your taxes” implying vote for Ballard.

Didn’t happen. We were there. snicker

In reality, few blacks cared enough about Rozelle Boyd, King Ro, Ron Gibson, or Bart Peterson all the subject of controversy in the news with the 300 East Fiasco, Ron Gibson’s drunken assault on a female police officer and his subsequent behavior on the council during the Monroe Gray ethics investigation, and King Ro, well–his name is King Ro, ‘nough said.

Of course, blacks NEVER had any connection with Bart Peterson, thats why the state of black Indianapolis is so “horrible”.

Peterson left the black community to suffer with these thugs in charge of us for eight (8) entire years, always refusing to help us and ignoring their abuse of power over us.

He treated us as though we had no rights, only the chosen few black businessmen, 1 black business woman, the black legislators, and the black expo officials had rights, and they could abuse the rights of others, so long as they delivered that black vote.

Bart prefered NOT to have a relation with the black community, therefore he choose to “not” protect the citizens from these black leaders in return for their delivery of the black vote.

So…now Bart’s history. No Congress, No Senate.

The ghetto mafia’s mouthpiece on Radio One and the local black paper will scream bloody racism the first chance he gets. He’ll demand every black person “flood the phone lines at the Mayor’s action line”. He’ll rant and rave like a lunatic from 1978, he’ll host town hall meetings to convince those in the black community they are in charge (not), He’ll call Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, they’ll cry to the black legislators who will try to wheel and deal using their legislative votes, wow, how many votes does the black caucus have on the floor? Not very many. Of course, without the machine, the “shakedowns” aren’t very effective either, no juice.

Yeah, Mayor Elect-Ballard is going to be okay. Very few politicans are blessed to owe so few people after getting elected into a Mayoral office in a world-class city.

    He’s the “People’s Mayor”.
