ELECTION DAY OF RECKONING
This is it. No more commercials. No more ralllies. No more blogs. No more spin. Just good old fashioned get out and vote. The only thing that has surprised me about this election how suprised everyone else seems to be about how close things look today. Anyone who has been paying close attention should not be surprised at today’s uncertainty.
Of course the polls show incumbent Mayor Bart Peterson slightly ahead, however who would of thought a two-term incumbent with millions in the bank would have to pull out all of the stops in the last days? Easy, anyone who showed up at a tax rally over massive property tax increases and saw the City-Council raise income taxes 65 percent.
The fundamentals have been here for a long time. It just amazes me with how long it took everyone else to recognize them.
Because this election is so close, it is all coming down to ground game and turning out the vote. Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians will be looking for voters the way an Ethiopian looks for food. (Pardon the dated 1980s reference.) And he who finds the most wins.
We’ll talk later today.

I’m doing my part here at work today – put a sign up reminding people to vote, bring their photo ID, and telling them how to find out where their polling location is. I can’t endorse anyone in particular, but if people aren’t voting then there’s no chance at all that they will be choosing the right candidates for the job.

Anybody keeping track of which precincts are having the most “battery” trouble? A post-election survey of the totality of the Marion County precincts might prove illuminating.
Some “Democratic” precincts seem to be working just fine, while its the M-K and Republican precincts that have moved or are using manually marked ballots.
My wife said that Precinct 67′s machines weren’t working either earlier this morning.

Abdul,
If Ballard does win the election, and the cadre of corruption gets the boot, do we have to call you King Maker Shabazz?

varangianguard – that’s a great point. Hopefully Abdul or Chris is keeping track of the callers. I guess it would be easy enough for one of us to listen in to the radio show and record an unscientific poll, well those of us who don’t have to work.

Voted just before 9 in precinct 46 (precinct 57 was co-located there) in Pike. It was very quite with more poll workers outnumbering voters by at least 3 to 1. At that point, about 100 votes had been cast in each precinct.

Abdul, I get it–hyperbole–but famine-torn east Africa? That’s beneath you. Besides, he who found the most, in many cases, still died.

Give me a break, it’s an outdated 80′s joke – it’s called humor. (or an outdated attempt at humor) If you get too wrapped up in forcing diversity everywhere, it looks like you can lose the ability to laugh.
