I HATE TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE
City-County Council Member Ron Gibson is on cloud nine after disorderly conduct charges were dropped this week, however he may have just traded one controversy for another.
The day the charges were dropped Gibson had a news conference outside the City-County building. He read a statement that was issued to the press on government letterhead and distributed by a council staff member on government time.
I was always under the impression that council staff and materials were for council business only. When Gibson was charged last year, it was not in connection with any of his duties as a council member but in his actions as a private citizen. Therefore, I really don’t think it’s appropriate or proper for an elected official to use government resources for matters that are purely private and personal. Or if they do, they should reimburse the government for the time and resources they used.
I am willing to bet that there is some rule against this. But light of recent actions by this council, somehow I don’t think the rules really matter these days.

Perhaps the Council can put the matter on the ‘pending’ section of their agenda and possibly vote on it at some future meeting.

“IC 35-44-2-4
Ghost employment
Sec. 4. (b) A public servant who knowingly or intentionally assigns to an employee under his supervision any duties not related to the operation of the governmental entity that he serves commits ghost employment, a Class D felony.”
Perhaps a couple of misdemeanors will be the least of his worries.

What would really be interesting to know is “how much does council attorney Aaron Haith get paid?” Does his salary from council, compared with the salary of previous council attorneys, give him the ability to do “pro bono” work for city county council members of both parties or just the majority?

More negative campaigning? Nothing positive yet to say about the GOP Council candidates?

So what you’re saying Wilson is you don’t mind government resources being used for private purposes?
October 12th, 2007 at 10:43 am
Wilson,
Are you so partisan that you cannot see corruption and illegal activity going on in your own party? Are you such a party flack that you don’t care that this bunch of Dems have hijacked a party that once looked after the “little guy”?
Its no wonder the Dems are getting so much bad press.

Wilson….really??? is that all you got…..I know you must be a halfway smart guy to see the corruption going on right? On a side note….I think all the CCC Repubs running are positive and going to take it well and run things the way they are supposed to be, but I will tell you something…..If they mess up I will be the first to call them to task. I personally think you are being paid a little extra by someone to type junk on a blog and not say anything bad about your corrupt party……confirm or deny? Thanks

I heard Gibson on the news saying how he cried over this whole thing and asked himself, “Why me?” Unbelievable. This guy sits on council? Grow a set!

Ron calls a news conference during business hours to thank his God for relief. He takes almost all his space on is CC webpage to profess his faith.
It’s a pretty flimsy faith, evidently, and full of inconsistencies and lies. And he knows it.
Two fellow council members, on the IFD payroll, show up. They come and go in city cars.
On their lunch hours, I’m sure.
Wilson, this entire incident was avoidable. But instead of letting it slip quietly away, these fools call more attention to it, and practically dare someone to call them on their brazen misuse of facilities, equipment and time.
It’s not ugly politics to call out the truth.
And the truth is, Ron probably shoulda been tried. Under what warped sense of values, does anyone condone flat-punching or shoving a (female) police officer?
If she were out of line, there are procedures to deal with that. I’ve filed a police complaint before–and it got a fair hearing. It wasn’t a quick process, but it was fair.
So, the only “consequence” from the entire mess?
The female detective in question, got a written reprimand for failing to properly document her file and officially request permission to work the extra-hours bar security job. Talk about shooting the messenger.
Yeah, Ron will get re-elected. But I got my eyes on him. And so do a lot of other folks.
He’s learning at the knee of President Gray. Which, Mr. Gibson, is not a good knee from which to learn. At all.
I’ll avoid the obvious two-knee double entendre here. Although most folks who know Ron have already “gone there.”

Wilson is a robot. He cannot think for himself. He just parrots back the same nonsensical responses over and over. He does not believe that these corrupt people should be held accountable for their actions, because then he wouldn’t get to be their little patsy anymore. Smoke and mirrors and no brinas – that’s what little Wilsons are made of.

Isn’t the term Crackers a racial slur? I do not believe in anyway I have ever called Wilson a derogatory name or racial slur. Why do you, Wilson, feel you are entitled to not do the same to me?

I’ve been buzzing around these blogs for a while now and I can tell you that it’s likely the individual posting is not Wilson. If it were, his posts would have nothing to do with anything…

Anybody can use whatever name they want to here. You can even use a name like this one. You can say whatever. You can try to discredit people by stealing a well-known NetName and writing stupid stuff. You can write repeatedly here using a variety of names to make it look like there a whole bunch of people concerned about a topic.

Theft of assets and government services plus maybe a violation of the false claim act shouldbe there too.
Good call, Abdul

I believe the press release for ron gibson was at 4:00 pm. sweetpea was there. administrative firefighters work 8:00 to 4:30 pm. so why was that idiot standing by his crook friend gibson on fire department time?
October 12th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
Crow, you are correct. “Cracker” is a slur. Since Wilson is on Andres campaign staff, is this what Andre Carson calls his constiuents??
October 12th, 2007 at 6:01 pm
Now you guys should be nicer to Wilson. He has to cling to the party because they are all he has. Where else will he get to be a doormat? No one else will take him…even as doormat.
October 12th, 2007 at 7:34 pm
I think Andre Carson must be calling his constiuents “Crackers”, a racial slur that is just as unacceptable as any, since this is who Wilson has been hanging out with and obviously picked up his verbiage.
Shame on the Democrats. Just shameful.

You are a communist and need to cease to exist!
your also a liberal idiot. get off Abdul’s blog!

Willie Lynch is my Grandpa! Anybody can write whatever one wants here. Anybody can use whatever name one wants. This is getting to be as gross as the Talkback feature in the Star.

I wonder if Sweet Pea has paid any State or Federal taxes especially withholding taxes on his workers?
October 13th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
More importantly, has Sweet Pea repaid all property tax he didn’t pay on his daughters house? He was getting the Homestead on his and his daughters and you ONLY GET ONE!

Bart lies.
Wilson lies.
’nuff said.
