Dysfunctional Family Values

I’m going to surprise a lot of you today by taking conservatives to task. You can pick yourself off the floor now. I have always considered my own politics best summed up as a socially progressive, capitalist pig. In other words, do what you want, just don’t ask me to pay for it. And I find it offensive when elected officials use morality as a ploy to get ahead in politics, but when you look at the skeletons in their closet you’ll find they have swords and shields.

Just go down the list, U.S. Senator David Vitter, evangelist Ted Haggard, Indiana Republican activist Glen Murphy and now Ft. Wayne Mayoral candidate Matt Kelty. Each of these individuals made a political living pointing out the flaws in the moral characters of others and now, with the exception of Murphy, found themselves on the receiving end (insert joke here) of scandal.

I accept scandals and politics. However, I like most voters, can’t stand hypocrisy. If you’re going to run on a platform of family values, it would be nice if you actually had some and left me and mine alone.

Matt Kelty is a dear friend of mine. I came through knowing of Matt through a friend’s fundraiser. From that moment ago, five plus years, Matt has been a man whom I’ve known to be honest and truthful! We all make mistakes, and interpret items differently, are not we human? Unfortunately, Matt’s willingness to be a political outsider, and stand up for the truth, and work hard for it, has gotten him a backlash from those who do not know him well! Matt will come through this a bit tougher and a bit wiser, but most importantly he will come through it with the many supporters who care for him.

As I am an overseer for a 501(c)3 organization, it is not who gave the money, but how you spend the money. Matt will spend funds appropriately, whether they are deemed his family’s, his friend’s or the public’s. He is a honest man, whom I trust to do a fair and just job, and I will do everything in my power to get him elected!

Actually, it is also who gives you money…sounds like you should go through your own closet before defending a criminal like Kelty!

Abdu’l, I’m with you: run on what the hairy heck (technical term, ya’ll) you plan on doing. Leave the sniping on character flaws alone (oh, and work to fix your own).

The Family Values schtick has run out of gas. Frankly, I don’t see the FamVal people checking the pedigree of the people they do business with–just the people they vote for. If they did, they’d probably be naked and homeless.

    Move on!

9:33 – and the neighbors of the serial killer will always tell you they are the nicest people in the world. Trust me, nobody TRULY knows anybody.

Kelty’s campaign could have directly accepted that money; there was no need for him to skirt the law.

He may be the nicest guy in the world, but it looks like he sinned to win.

There are rotten apples in every barrel, the Family Values folks are no exception. And I’ll bet most of them are glad to see these imposters brought down.
