CARSON FOR COUNCIL?
Marion County Democrats chose Andre Carson, the grandson of 7th District Congresswoman Julia Carson, to fill the vacancy left behind by Patrice Abduallah on the City-County Council. Abduallah resigned after it was discovered he did not live in his district.
Carson received 14 out of 20 precinct committeemen votes for the spot. I have met Carson and he is personable and engaging. It is my understanding that Democrats will try to put him on the ballot. I don’t know if they legally can since all the deadlines have passed.
Stay tuned.

Beth White has already demonstrated she has no respect for our election laws. She knew Abduallah didn’t live in his district and she certified him for the ballot anyway. He abandoned his district at least 7 months ago, if not sooner. You are correct; the applicable deadlines for filling this vacancy happened a long time ago. The Republicans don’t get a pass on the election law to put someone on the ballot and Democrats shouldn’t be given a pass either. Since Republicans didn’t go to court to protect the rights of the voters who were disenfranchised in May, I’m guessing they won’t think it is important enough to make the Democrats play by the election laws in this case either.

It’s odd - the non-crackpot Republicans finally get a non-crackpot County Chair yet some are trashing him already …
Being a political party county chair must be the most thankless position in the world!

Yeah, because we all know how much of a non-crackpot Ed Treacy was, and his sucessor, carpet-bagger Mike O’Connor.
Wilson, you slay me. Actually, you remind me of the Gary Busey character in the 1982 movie D.C. Cab. Check it out as far as his opinion regarding race and power. That fits you to a T.
The fact of the matter is that local black democrats are attempting to solidify their own power base..one that benefits their community and to hell with the rest of the party. Actually, Bart Peterson probably has the most thankless political job-he has to endure the black democrats repeated embarrassments. I’m sure you will shriek hysterical comments about hoods, anonymous nobodies, etc in a pathetic attempt to divert the truth of my observation, but the situation remains. If you actually looked at Marion County Democrat activity over the past year (Gibson, Gray, Conley, and so forth) you’d admit to the truth. However, you wont. Too bad, because you are informed and experienced in local politics to the point of gleefully displaying Republican foibles, but not your own parties.
Pitiful!

On blogs like this, there are plenty of folk hollering incessantly against the Democrats - I merely try to point out that Republicans also have issues, difficulties and problems…

…and Wilson is banned from this blog. Why isn’t Wilson trespassing through the tulips with Andre?
Look: Corruption is as Corruption Does! The Democrat Machine in Indianapolis is so dirty, that it’s time for the Feds to begin Operation Sweet Pea.

It looks like both a Republican County Prosecutor and a Republican U.S. District Attorney find no merit in the hysterical partisan shrieks of some perpetual naysayers…

Nepotism -
It’s a great American past-time. On both sides of the political aisle.

Abdul - sorry to change the subject for a moment, but could you or one of your “associates” look into how many sub-prime mortgage holders are currently late on their payments, in default, or otherwise impacted by rising rates in Marion County?
I was just looking at a Forbes report from last spring that placed Indianapolis third worst in the nation for late mortgage payments on sub-primes. Worst was Atlanta, followed by Detroit, with Indy coming in at third place due to 20% of all sub-prime mortgages being at least two months overdue.
Things haven’t improved since the spring, sio I’d love to see something comprehensive showing where we are today. Especially if we could see historical trends as well - maybe late payments/foreclosures from five and fifteen years ago to help with perspective.
I often go with the adage that Indy isn’t subject to the volatility of east/west coast markets. But sub-primes are a different animal. Any homeowner could be lured into a seductive sub-prime, regardless of market or price.

Even though the deadlines have passed, I’m sure the Republicans won’t do a damn thing to prevent Carson from being put on the ballot. The Democrats play excellent power politics, and the Republicans let them do what they want, when they want.
Now if the shoe was on the other foot, you can bet that the Dems would be screaming foul, and the Republicans would bow to the pressure. They always have.

Speaking of legalities and illegalities, what every happened to the potential challenge to votes cast by Abdualahh? Has that issue been settled, or is somebody doing some serious work on it? The outcome of these questions seems pretty clear if Republicans, taxpayer groups and others never actually challenge them.

Reading Abdul’s posts over the past two weeks has been very disappointing. Where did all the hardnose reporting go Abdul? Why all the same fluff that one expects to read in the Iny Star?
Just my opinion but I think someone came down hard on you Abdul.
Sure, I can stop reading your posts but where did the old Abdul go?

Bob,
I don’t know what you’re looking for. Not every story is some “hard hitting” piece. There is more stuff going on in this town. If you know something, send me an e-mail at abdul@newstalk1430.com.
