Turn Your Anger Into Action

If you’re like me this morning, you went through the roof when the story about how thieves had stolen copper from Gleaners Food Pantry that led to the spoiling of hundreds of tons of food that would have gone to families in need in our area.

I gave myself a few minutes to yell but then decided getting mad won’t do anybody any good, but getting moving will.

If you can, take a few minutes today and make a donation to Gleaners.

Log on today at Gleaners.org and find out how you can donate food or money to help those in need. Or call Gleaners at 925-0191. That’s 925-0191.

It’s time like this where a community’s true character comes to light. Do your part today. Log on to Gleaners.org or call Gleaners at 925-0191 and make a difference today.

    Truly a worthy cause.

Why is there a need for Gleaners?

Is it not the function of the Center Township Trustee and ALL Trustees to take care of the poor thru “poor relief”?

Props to private charities (the way it should be) and to the guy on your show who donated $580. Nice guy.

Gleaners is a very worthwhile cause! The sad thing is that this is a result of The Democrat Machine, that has let crime increase to this outrageous level where our most kind institutions are hit in an outrageous manner!

The Machine has created a revolving door ‘justice’ system called an Arrestee Processing Center that keeps criminals on the street, only select cases are prosecuted because The Machine cut the prosecutor’s budget to give to the sorry public defender, in Marion County does anyone go to prison for any reason??? No. Criminals are released on “home detention” which has no meaning and is not enforced.

You see? Crime is up because The Democrat Machine loves crime! It creates fear…fear of lawlessness and being victimized, burglarized, raped! The Machine loves to instill fear in others….

…and then: “Tax and Spend” on a croney or adding patronage employees. Don’t be surprised if The Boss asks his executive “Public Safety Consultant” to hire a staff of 25 to explore the reason why Gleaners was victimized! It would be true-to-form Machine.

The answer is to stop wasting money on a Colts stadium and put it into a giant super-jail, and to fill it with the criminals.

Bob, there is a need because of things like the new COIT. I heard the reverend from the church on S. Meridian say that the 65% increase will hurt the people of his parish. IF they are making 25K the new tax will take antoher $125 from them - that means no shoes, clothes or FOOD for these kids. That is why we give. Be sure to thank Bart come election day!

Why not lock all the thugs in the new stadium, give them guns, and let their natures take care of the rest.

I’ve always thought it would be a good idea, instead of tearing down the RCA Dome when it’s finally closed, to turn it into a Thunderdome-type gladiator arena. The ticket sales would help pay off what’s left of the debt on the original Dome. We could put whoever is responsible for spoiling all that food in there with the woman who let her kid run around on the interstate with a diaper on a few months ago. I for one would pay to see that.

The question about the respective roles of trustee poor relief vs Gleaners seems to be a good one to me.

For other bloggers, anger management might be more helpful than anger amplification.

I just took a look at Gleaners Management and Board of Directors off their website. What’s the Executive Director of the Indiana Democratic Party doing on Gleaner’s Board?
For an organization that started in a garage they seem to be loaded with a lot of local politicos and business insiders now. I’m glad to see Browning is on the Board, times can get tough living at Crooked Stick.

Now if it’s the County Township Trustee’s job to make sure poor people have food vouchers then why are poor people in need of Gleaners in order to be able to eat? A poor starving person cannot just walk in to Gleaners and get a can of pork and beans to eat, they have to go to a “charity” that Gleaner’s supplies “donated” food to.

All of which begs the question as to why millions of taxpayer dollars got to the State’s Township Trustees to feed the poor thru “poor relief” and the poor still need to rely on food donated to Gleaners to eat?

Why not just have Gleaners be in charge of “poor relief” instead of Trustees? I suppose it’s because the shake houses will “buy” a food voucher but won’t take a can of beans to play their game. Given that scenario, I suppose a Gleaners IS needed.

Trustee food vouchers are issued to a specific grocery store with a specific purchasers name. The grocery stores must then submit the papertape receipt to the Trustee for payment. Those food vouchers are not fungible.

Gleaners serves all of Central Indiana with more than 100 townships covered in several counties. The majority of rural township trustees issue hardly any food vouchers whatsoever — that’s why private charity is needed when some local government wont do its mandated job.

this is clearly heinous and i am glad to see the community coming to the aid of such a fantastic organization. i do have a question. didn’t gleaner’s have these refrigeration units alarmed? since they contained perishable items, they should have had a temperature monitoring system that notified someone when it went out of range. i used to manage a facility with a temperature controlled warehouse and was paged any time it went out of range 24/7. since they had perishables of such value in it, i connot imagine it wasn’t. in any case, as a preventive action they need to have such a system added.

I agree that the system should have been alarmed, but without a backup plan, what good would that have done for the food?

Maybe large foodbanks should work together to contract with local refrigeration truck companies for emergency support. An alarm could go to foodbank reps and to the contracting company so that immediate contact can be established and perishables could be placed in temporary storage until the problem is managed.

Good job fundraising today! We had a fundraiser where I work this morning. It is inspiring to see our city pull together and supports the notion that private individuals and businesses will support the the needs of the poor without being subject to socialist taxation by force.

    10-4 to a donation — a good thing.
