I applaud the Mayor for this! Abdul, you certainly heard me recommend this on your show several times. I am astonished that it could possibly be- in the best way possible!

I can not believe after Mondays meeting they choose to hold Fridays meeting in a smaller room ? Did they think that the Gov's call to freeze tax rates to 2006 levels would be like throwing a bucket of ice on the protest ? Did they think the tax payers would - thank goodness we do not need to pay that increase - all is w ell - I can go on with my life as it was.

Notice the Mayor did not offer up ANY cuts until after 2 weeks of protest.

I think when the Mayor announced the COIT increase in June he and the CCC figured they could pass it through with mini8mal opposition.

We need to keep the HEAT on the politicians from BOTH sides of the isle.

I have a theory, so just stay with me for a minute. For all of those who have gone to the meetings, spoken, and watched have you noticed that it is only the people who OPPOSE their actions? No supportors. Now, it isn't because they don't care, they can sit at home and watch it stream on the internet if they don't have cable, but they have been dictated to stay home.

Why? Because if they came it would make for a LARGER crowd, and the last thing the CCC, Bart and Frankie want is any kind of crowd that would attract any more attention than it already is. They all hope the sheep who follow blindly will miss the commotion and dutifully drudge to the polls (if they are open) on election day and faithfully pull the "D".

Just something to think about.

Muckraker, you forgot the two cars the deputy mayors each have. It is pathetic that Bart say he can't find anyplace to cut.

Why not start by eliminating the unnecessary executive positions on his staff, such as a few deputy mayors, City Council attorney, Director of Public Safety, Asst Director of Public Safety, Public Safety Advisor, and take their city vehicles away from them? This would save an estimated $1 million dollars, which could be used to hire needed city employees in all departments of city government!
