Lawmakers will ALWAYS leave open the door for double taxation by passing a new tax, but somehow just never actually getting around to eliminating any old ones. Which is, of course, why the Fair Tax will NEVER be passed in the form its designers hope for. That’s the real fear. You also cannot trust them- So, they eliminate schools from the equation, that does not guarantee they will cut your property tax bill. If they do cut it, they will eventually add more to it. I believe they did that in Michigan years ago but they still have the property tax and friends say, it still is a problem. Make them go for total elimination.
