Lugar Calls for Major Course Change in Iraq
U.S Senator Dick Lugar tonight called for the nation to take a major course change in Iraq in order to achieve success. In a live speech on the Senate floor and posted on the Senator’s website, Lugar said the current surge is not working and the United States runs the risk of failure in Iraq unless it changes its policies.
Lugar says he does not see the Iraqis reaching a political settlement anytime soon under current conditions. He also says while the U.S. military is strong, it is not indestructible and Iraq could have devastating effects on its ability to function in the future. Lugar also calls on the U.S. to end its dependence on foreign oil by increases fuel efficiency standards. And he says a bipartisan solution on Iraq is less likely as the 2008 election
gets closer.
Lugar offers several recommendations to fix the situation in Iraq. He says while Iraq should be prevented from becoming a terrorist haven, Lugar says the U.S. should redeploy its forces throughout the region to ensure security and also remove itself from the fighting between sectarian forces.
He also says the U.S. should go on a diplomatic offensive and open discussions on Iraq with all parties that have a vested interest in the nation.
Lugar is the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Sadly, Senator Lugar will go down in history as the watchdog who didn’t bark — he was the Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for most of George W Bush’s disastrous War on Iraq and he was a cheer-leader, a rubber-stamp, an enabler. Colin Powell has seen his own reputation damaged forever - Dick Lugar is in the same fix.
Still, it’s good he is finally coming to realize what most Americans figured out some time ago: the current losing policy in the Middle East must be changed.

Wilson 46201. You are quite the over opinionated person. You must never be wrong as well I am sure. Such a know it all. Have you run for, or hold, an office since you seem to have all the answers?

No, Wilson is a misguided democrap mouthpiece who finds no fault with the current corruption in the democrat party. He criticizes anti-gay Christians for their beliefs and Republicans who challenge his democrat officeholders. He needs to get his own website instead of dominating the comments on all the others. Actually, he’s a pawn.

Lugar has made a public effort to expose scandal in the past - especially with regards to finacial corruption in the CFR/Trilateralist driven World Bank, which in 2004 Lugar said includes about 5 - 25% of World Bank Funds. That’s on the order of 100’s of billions of dollars - enough to make any defense contractor dream of sugar-plums dancing in Baghdad.
While I tend to support his statements on Iraq, I do so at arms length. Anyone whose been paying attention knows that this is the same position advocated by everybody’s favorite insiders, Kissinger and Brzezinski. I like to refer to them as the Rockefeller Robber Barons. One of their institutional associates (read: ‘CFR’), Robert Gates, has vocally shared their position.
So the question is “Why has Lugar taken the establishment position, in opposition to the President?”
The answer is quite simple, considering that GWB’s father, GHWB, is an intimate companion of these insiders, along with his budding “best friend” William J. Clinton.
They’ve achieved their objective. Iraq is in complete dissaray, they are involved in multi-factional conflict, and their neighbors are already imbedded with financial and ideological support of the various fueding plenipotentiate hopefuls. It’s Belgrade 101 redux.
So given that this is the outcome many of us have predicted from day one, and that any serious Washington insider like Lugar should have been certain of while the rest of us on the outside were only speculating based upon precedent, key players, and the geopolitical circumstances, the next question is “why would Lugar suddenly share the sentiments of the globalist elites?”
What’s the common thread between them and Lugar? I’m placing my bets on Israel. Lugar has been a champion of AIPAC at every turn and on every corner.
And why would AIPAC and Israeli leadership support Middle East turmoil? It’s very simple. With the region in an uproar and facing devastation - especially if Israel were attacked or directly threatened - they would be delivered from their fate by the same organization who assured their inception - the United Nations.
It plays into the hands of the UN supporting elites such as Brzezinsky and Kissinger. It plays into the stated ideology of Robert Gates, who is now in charge of the US military. And it plays into the hands of Israel, who would benefit greatly if regional regimes were eliminated and replaced by willing “leaders” who would gladly establish new Constitutions in alignment with the goals of the UN Charter.
Only time will tell. But Lugar knows for certain. As the future unfolds, remember this post. If I’m correct, if the US is drawn further into Middle East turmoil and our military is called upon for broader regional activity, remember that this has been planned and endorsed by our leaders - on both sides of the aisle.
We shall see.

“However, [Lugar spokesman Andy] Fisher said the speech does not mean Lugar would switch his vote on the war or embrace Democratic measures setting a deadline for troop withdrawals.”

It looks like Wilson already owns http://www.wilson46201.com. Wilson, I will host your site for free, set up a blog, and do anything else to get you on your own site. Let me know how to get a hold of you…hotmail email address or whatever.

Thanks for the kind offer of assistance, “Jerry”. I also own about 80 or so other web addresses - I am not exactly a novice on the Internet — I’m proud of writing Julia Carson’s campaign webpages back in 1996 and then her official Congressional website.
Sadly, some shadowy GOP operatives are upset that I post accurate and truthful information about their schemes and candidates — they want to shut out alternative voices in their rightwing echo chamber…

Wilson, I’m not looking to shut out anyone’s voice. I just don’t want this website and others to be the “Wilson 46201 Show”. Leave the hundreds of comments / posts for your own website, which again I will gladly set up and host for you if you do not currently have hosting.

Well, I wasn’t a big Lugar fan to begin with. When he mysteriously tried to rework the I-69 expansion to protect his own farmland (at the expense of everybody else), I was irked. However, when the idea came up of renaming I-465 the Letterman Expressway and then suddenly that got replaced with Lugar Boulevard or whatever, that sealed the deal for me. He’s a politician.

He was criticizing policy in Iraq back before the 2004 election, which got some traction (though it was surprisingly limited given the looming election and the focus of that on Iraq).

“Shadowy GOP operatives”?
Wilson, The Pawn, wrote that hilarious letter from the Sherrif’s office, didn’t he?
