Answer this question. What did the brass, Mayor and Sheriff do to address the homicide rate one year ago today after the Hamilton St massacre? Among many intiative they created a SLED Unit – Street Level Enforcement Division – to combat crime, specifically, homicides, gun and drugs, and robbery. Well has it worked??? Homicides for 2006 increased and 2007 does not look much better. So why do we still have a SLED unit that appears to be ineffective against homicides, guns and drugs and robberies? Think of all the other intiatives (or knee jerk IMPD PR items) that have been instituted and appear to be a bust? So business as usual with IMPD brass the Mayor and Frank Anderson.

The Mayor held a press conference in front of the house where the horrible tragedy happened. He used the opportunity (in front of all the TV crews)to talk about the $10 million dollars being spent on sidewalks and streets there and how the sidewalks will better things for them. He seemed real sincere, just like always.

1:32.. we got our “NEW” police officers. They replaced the “old” ones. (meaning the ones who retired) Bart didn’t lie on this one. It was a play on words.

Abdul, ask the Mayor and Sheriff why the MCOPS van is staged at 10th and Gray. Manned 24 hrs for the next few days, its taking beat officers out of service for no apparent reason other than to make sure the van doesnt get stolen! Or perhaps its an election year ploy, staged for the anniversary of the Hamilton st murders. Either way, its nothing but syle over substance.

Meanwhile, IMPD is still shorthanded.

Actually both trials will be getting underway this summer. It’s not uncommon for criminal trials like this to take a year to get started after all the preliminary work is underway.

1) The trial is the purview of the Prosecutor Carl Brizzi. Perhaps Abdul should ask him since they’re good friends.

2) The neighborhood improvements are on there way, including 5 million dollars in side and road repair.

It is strange how some trials are more “speedy” than others.

It is a sad anniversary. The mayor is about photo ops, not substance. He doesn’t care about the poor or middle class of this city only the fat cats with the cash. That is sad. Unfortunately, something like this will happen again and he will say “HOW HORRIBLE” and go back to working on a Super Bowl bid.

Shameful.

I find it odd that it has been a year since the massacre and no trial. Why?

No, things are worse. Remember how the Mayor promised the residents on Hamilton all those improvements in their neighborhood? Hasn’t happened nor will it.

Go out and talk to the folks on Hamilton Abdul. Ask them to be on your talk show. Ask them if things are better now.
