Primary Colors

Although the next election for Marion County Sheriff won’t occur until 2010, a primary race could already be shaping up. Current Deputy Kerry Forestall is already running for the spot currently occupied by Frank Anderson. However, Forestall could find a primary opponent in IMPD Officer and current City-County Council Member Sherron Franklin. Franklin has expressed an interest in running for Sheriff in three years. Both she and Forestall are experienced law enforcement officials with comparable backgrounds, however such a contest would definitely bring the dynamics of race and sex into the mix as Franklin is an African-American female and Forestall is a white male. At least one Republican sheriff’s deputy has also expressed an interest in running as well.

    Run Sharron run!

Can we have one stinking election at a time please? This constant election cycle crap has got to stop.

  • Not a Sherron fan

The election is three plus years away. But this post is still interesting.

Sherron would have to run as an independent or Republican. Which, after two Democratic election campaigns, would be difficult for her.

I’ve interacted with her several times. She’s not the brightest blub in the chandelier. By a long damned shot. Let’s just say she and Lincoln Plowman probably are cut from the same cloth. Capiche?

And can someone please tell me again, why ANY LEO is on the council? Just askin’.

LEO’s are on the council because they are citizens of Indianapolis and they have every right to run for the council, just as Monroe Gray and Ike Randolph are firefighters and on the council. Second you have miss judged Sherron, I’ve known and worked with her for years outside of law enforcemnet and I find her smart both street and politically and I’d vote for her any day before I’d see just about anyone else win
