Let’s Make A Deal

A tentative deal has been reached between the city of Indianapolis and the Fraternal Order of Police over stalled contract talks. The two sides have been at odds over retro pay, causing officers to picket city hall and Monday Night Football. Under the terms of the tentative agreement, the issue of retro pay will be addressed in 2007 talks in the new Metropolitan Police Department. The officers will get pay parity on January 1, 2007. They will work a six-day work week, with three days off and will get to decide how they want their shifts structured.

So, despite the fact that the dumbass piggies voted down the biggest raise any public employee ever sees, the city is going to cave (again) to them.

    The FOP is today’s klan.

FYI, the deal was voted down, not because of the raise contained in it, but due to the fact the insurance and other benefit increases would eat up nearly all of that raise by themselves. Once again, a member of the public takes whatever Bart says as the undisputable truth. A society that does not challenge the words of its leaders is doomed to fail

Insurance costs are going wild for everybody. It sure would be nice for everybody if everybody could get pay raises big enough to cover sky-rocketing insurance cost increases and get still get pay increases better than cost-of-living on top of that. I suspect damn few working people can get such a deal. Police wages are not immune to the same problems everybody else faces.
