A Three Percent Headache!
The Indianapolis City County Council is introducing a proposal that would give raises to numerous county and township offices. Proposal 612 would give three percent raises to the County assessor, auditor, clerk, coroner, recorder, surveyor and treasurer. All nine township assessors would also get raises.
This is an exercise in really bad judgment for a number of reasons. First, the raises kick in next year after a number of officials just got elected into their new office. Many of them Democrats, which will raise an eyebrow or two by some members of the public. Secondly, at a time when the County is strapped for cash, no elected official should be taking a raise with county funds. If anything, if you based the pay on performance, I could argue some of these elected officials (i.e. the coroner) owe the taxpayers money.
This is a bad idea that comes at a bad time that could only raise the ire of the taxpayers. Who’s running the show on the second floor?
We need to have a long talk!
By the way, the proposal also takes the salary cap off of Frank Anderson’s salary.
We really need to talk!

It is all about the money anyway. Not about service to the people.
The Democrat Party: The Party of the Rich
Democrats constantly accuse the Republican Party as being the party of “wealth and privilege,” while selling themselves as the party of the “common man.”
Yet the facts paint an entirely different picture.
According to labor statistics, in “blue” states with a majority of Democrats, the average income is $100,000. While in “red” states with a majority of Republicans, the average income is $30,000.
The biggest supporter of the Democrat Party, George Soros, is a billionaire. The other major supporters are Hollywood elites.
Among the wealthiest presidents to occupy the White House are:
John F. Kennedy (D): $20 million ($124 million today)
The Kennedy Trust: $400 million ($2.6 billion today)
Lyndon Johnson (D): $14 million ($82 million today)
Herbert Hoover (R): $8 million ($88 million today)
Franklin Roosevelt (D): $1 million ($11 million today)
In the 2004 presidential election, the order of wealth, starting with the wealthiest, was as follows:
1) John Kerry (D): Billionaire ($1.2 -$ 3.3 billion!) - includes Heinz Ketchup fortune
2) John Edwards (D): Millionaire ($70 million)
3) Dick Cheney (R): Millionaire ($50 million)
4) George W. Bush (R): Millionaire ($15 million)
When you hear Democrats complain about “Republican” wealth, note that John Edwards’ wealth alone exceeds the wealth of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney COMBINED.

Abdul, I’ve worked for the county for over 20 years, 8 as an elected township assessor. I am a Level I and Level II State Certified Assessor Appraiser, with numerous International Association of Assessing Officials classes under my belt. I am also the lowest paid assessor in Marion County. With or without the 3% in 2007, I will still be the lowest paid assessor in Marion County. It’s time the CCC looks at a new pay structure which takes into account both experience and training.

Arnie, just wait until Bart gets his way with consolidation and see what a screw up that is. You’ll wish us poor low life assessors were still around. When was the last time you tried to get anything done at the city level? Try it, you’ll be amazed at what a well oiled machine it is….NOT!

“Keeping It Real” is actually Jocelyn Tandy who spammed the identical cut-&-paste screed at other local blogs … poor Jocelyn has never won an election so she might indeed be looking longingly at such salaries!

Ms Williams, consolidation of Marion county township office will happen and soon. Even in Franklin Township. Taxpayers can no longer afford the expence to support outdated thinking of republican as yourself and here in Lawrence township. Enjoy the next four years. Your last!

Hmmm I wonder what’s going on here? It looks like every office except the prosecutors office got a raise. I wonder why the only office the republicans won didn’t get one. Makes you wonder doesn’t it?

Becky Willams, you are a liar and a thief. Lets not reveal the fact as to how many of your immediate family and your close friends work in the Franklin Township Assessors office. YOUR friends get low tax rates, everyone else is in jeopardy. we know, we had to sell our home because of you. You should have the sheriffs stay with you at the New Bethel Ordinary eating establishment, that is where you spend most of your waking hours. Residents of Franklin Township are tired of you robbing them, and if your fat-ass doesnt fall over before your term is over, Im sure you will be in the unemployment line. By the way, does the assessors office drug test its employees?
