Earlier today the US Senate approved the nomination of Judge John Roberts to serve as the 17th Chief Justice of the United States by a vote of 78-22. Hours later he was sworn-in as Chief Justice of the United States at a ceremony at the White House. Justice John Paul Stevens administered the oath of office. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts issued this news release today. CBS News has more.
